What would you do if you found your senior pastor was having an affair?

It seems that the consensus is CLEAR and "AFFAIR free" for a year... then WELCOME back.

I simply feel/believe that a MAN of the CLOTH that is guilty of sexual sins to BEGIN with... is NEVER to be TRUSTED as WORTHY of leading the flock AGAIN. I call that REASONABLE consequences.... I do realize most will see this as LACK of GRACE and MERCY.

This has nothing to do with being a CHRISTIAN. Of course ALL our sins are forgiven. I just think LEADERSHIP in 99% of the churches is truly LACKING in ACCOUNTABILITY.... and CONSEQUENCES.

This thread asks a question....

What would you do if you found your senior pastor was having an affair?

My response was that it is my opinion that in THIS scenario... I do NOT believe a pastor SHOULD be re-instated in a position of SHEPHERDING a flock.

To tell me.... WELL... You don't even attend church... so WHY does it matter??
I'm still allowed to have an opinion. I don't go to BARS either and I still have an opinion about THOSE places. :D

This does NOT have ANYTHING to do with forgiveness of this sin. It has to do with RESPECT for the title of PASTOR/SHEPHERD.

I stand firmly behind my claim. A pastor that has had an affair SHOULD NEVER be allowed to pastor again... because ALTHOUGH he is indeed forgiven... He cannot be trusted to faithfully lead his flock... and he becomes a stumbling block for others. IF you cannot TRUST your pastor... there is no point in continuing.

I think there is a problem with how people perceive men of AUTHORITY... and I think there is a true lack of humility in many who take on this role.

BEING a pastor is a HEAVY LOAD... just as being a HUSBAND is for a man. Both these titles are deeply MIS-understood and DIS-RESPECTED by many

I think of BOB... MAJOR... and PASTOR GARY when I state this... These men have all shown HUMILITY in how they speak to others... and these men have explained as well as led by example ... the depth and scope of GRAVITY within holding the OFFICE of a pastor. I respect these men DEEPLY. They are men of PRAYER and REFLECTION.
I would go to a church PASTORED by these men because I trust them. I have seen their fruit... and they speak with WISDOM.

It is also my opinion that many CHRISTIANS lack WISDOM. It is NOT wise to attempt to teach someone who is NOT shown RESPECT. Telling someone "the truth" means NOTHING if FIRST you do NOT love them.

There are far too many "Christians" who find it WAY too easy to "Correct and/or Teach" others without the proper condition of heart.
