Dreams are a natural way for the mind to rest and reset itself for the coming day. However, God can and does use dreams to communicate messages. This is one of the ways he communicated with ancient seers. I also believe he uses it today to communicate, but like miracles, such activities are rare.
 
In general the mind is processing information while we are sleeping but I do believe thay God communicates thru dreams.

I am someone who receives messages thru dreams.
