You Can’t Buy

You Can’t Buy
(Cakes from Greggs)
John 4:14

You can’t buy happiness
But you can buy doughnuts
To get that sugary high,
A cup of strong coffee
Reaches the parts…
No other drink comes close,
And for comfort eating
A chocolate bar or three
Makes everything alright?
These fill a corner
distract for a fleeting moment til the yearning for something overwhelms!

Smoking interesting tobacco
Imbibing the fruits of the vine
Provides temporary distraction
TIL when in the cold light of day,
reality hits and you realise
all that the world has to offer
Has passed its sell by date,

In spite the new, improved,
recipe it’s still all the same.
Different brand, special offer
Two for one,
Still leaving you with that munchie feeling
hungering for more…

Wish there was something to eat that would satisfy
And I would never hunger again?
A long quenching refreshing drink
So I’d never thirst again?
Something that would comfort me
without expanding my waist
Something that would keep me fulfilled
water that would spring
up to eternal life.

John 4:14 But whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst.
