I see two aspects to this question, both very important:
A. While I totally understand what Joshua888 said and why, what you two guys said is correct and in accordance with the New Testament. Jesus said: "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.” Mark Ch 8:38
The NT is clear that we are to speak of Jesus and our faith in Him no matter the consequences! After Pentecost the Apostles lived this! And Paul also! And they suffered because of doing so (we now believe that most were ultimately martyred for their faith in Jesus and speaking of Him). Suffering is also TOTALLY Scriptural and it makes you strong! For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps: 1 Peter Ch 2:21
B. IS DANIEL FULLY BORN AGAIN?Before I would advise Daniel to speak to his parents according to the above, I would want to make 100% certain that he actually IS a Christian - else a terrible tragedy of a broken family and worse could wrongly occur. Who introduced him to Christ? 1) Did he/they stress to Daniel that he must repent of all the sins he's ever committed against God, including the ones we fail to do? (like loving and obeying Him perfectly).
2) Did he then, in order to be forgiven of these sins, help him to believe in Jesus as both Lord and Saviour including committing his whole life to Him forever? 3) Has he been baptised in water, confessing that commitment, and 4) received the Holy Spirit? ALL these are essential to be certain of being a true NT Christian (just reciting a 'sinners prayer' will NOT do).
And finally is he now fully and effectively discipling Daniel (most churches fail to do this) to bring him to full knowledge and understanding of what a Christian Believer is and how he should live? Matthew Ch 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.
When all of this is true, THEN Daniel could speak to his folks, and would be ready for persecution from them in the likelihood that this would happen. This young man is only 15. We must take great care to very wisely guide him in accordance with God's Word.
