1Cor.15:45-47 speaks of Jesus being the Last Adam and the Second Man. What does this mean? How is Jesus the last Adam? How is He the second Man?

Quantrill

way more is being read into this making it say something completely different

Where does it say that Adam
Adam is also of God.
I really think you need to back up and re-read the context of what is being said. It is talking about Jesus, not Adam. It says that Jesus is of God.

In my post I gave the reference of Luke 3:38. Why do you ask again?

Quantrill

Adam is not the son of God but Gods creation in HIS image. The SON of GOD is JESUS period..............

I answered that question in #4 why do you ask again?

Because it does not say what you are trying to make it say. It is being added to!

You haven't answered anything yet. You mistake Christ as the second Adam instead of the Last Adam.

How is Christ the last Adam? How is Christ the second Man?

......How is Christ the second Man?

It certainly sounds like you are misinterpreting this. "second man" does not refer to Jesus as second in time or order. It is identifying which being is being referred to.

As in my two friends, the one I mention first in my writing would be referred to as my first friend - even tho I may have met her years after the friend I refer to as my second friend. It is a way to distinguish between the two friends I am talking about without using their proper names each time.

Jesus is not the second Adam, he is the last Adam. Adam means man. There were many men born after Adam.

If all its doing is identifying which is being referred to all that needs to be said is Adam or Christ. Instead we have specific numbers and amount designations given to them. 1st, 2nd, and last.

So when it refers to Adam as the first man, your saying it doesn't mean he is the first man? Makes no sense. Just call him Adam and Christ, Christ. "The first man Adam" is what it says, because Adam was the first man. Christ is referred to as the second man. But He was not the second man after Adam. But we are told He is the second Man.

Yes, Jesus is the last Adam. And yes there were many men born after Adam. That doesn't answer the question. Why is Jesus the 'last' Adam. As there were and are many men born after Christ also.

I honestly do not think anyone can answer the questions offered since it appears one person is totally alone in their beliefs in a group who follow God's Word as it is and not attributing more to it than is. So once again, it is time to bid ado to this thread!

I too follow God's Word as it is. But I recognize that I don't know it all which means I study to know more. I have found when you come upon specific numbers or discriptions such as these, that there is some truth behind them.

Are you saying you reject any more learning from the Bible. You have attained? What new things have you learned lately from Scripture?

You said earlier, it just means one is physical and one is spiritual. Ok. I could generalize and say also, it just means God loves us. Thats what God is trying to say here. He loves us. True. Can't argue with that. But, I think God has given these things to reveal something for us.

How the simplest things can so easily allude you, I do not know. First and second are identifiers in verse 47 only. If you reaqd verse 46 it shouyld be obvious what is going on. Yes Paul could have said Adam and Christ or Adam and Jesus, but he is teaching an important lesson about Jesus nature and purpose.

45 And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 46 Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. 47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. 48 As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. 49 And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

You didn't answer the question about the last Adam. How is Christ the last Adam when others were born before and after Him?

Your explantion of the second Man is lacking. You havent said anything. I know the first is earthly. I know the second is hevenly. So? Why is He called the second Man?

Quantrill

The reference to Jesus Christ as the Last Adam can only be referring to Him as the Last Representative of the human race. There will never be another. Just as Adam represets the human race and his actions are attributed to that race making all guilty of sin, (Rom.5:12) so Christ represents a new race, that of the redeemed, and His actions are attributed to His race making them righteous. (Rom.5:19)

The reference to Christ as the 2nd Man is not as clear. But much is here I believe which sheds light on Gods work of salvation. Here are some Scriptures to consider.

Gen.3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Gen. 3:20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

Gal. 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

Gal. 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

I did answer this.

As for your other comment, I did not address it here as it has been addressed in another thread.

You argue like an atheist. That iks not to say you are an atheist, only that you argue like one which is very unproductive.
