I've never really thought about it in terms of modern borders until I read this post on a blog I follow:

It does say that Abraham's descendants will receive that land according to his covenant with God in Genesis 15:18:
"On the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying:
“To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates— ..."
But when I consider what that would mean geopolitically today, I'm not so sure I feel like it is likely any time soon.
What do you guys think? Is there another way to look at this?
