But do I have to rebuke the sexual thoughts that arouse me?

Depends who you ask really.

I say that you shouldn't and accept it as part of your natural life. Thinking of it as sin is not a healthy state of mind in my opinion.

Others may well say otherwise of course.

The behaviors seen in the Middle Eastern cultures can be explained fully by three characteristics of the male population there
1. unrivaled arrogance
2. ingrained selfishness
3. stupidity

They have all the trappings of men, but in all cases behave like spoiled children.

Because first of all, God created sexual feelings, so we can reproduce... If we had no sexual feelings, we would face extinction. And lust is much different than sexual fantasy or desire... Thoughts are not bad as long as you don't manifest them...

Every time Israel went behind the gods of Canaan, God said they have "prostituted". There is only one true living God.. The Church cannot say they believe in Jesus and some other god.. Same way, God design a man to fall in love with only one woman and vice versa.. The natural desires of a person does not justify the thoughts to be correct.. That is the same debate that goes with homosexuality.. If natural desires of a person is not wrong, then there is nothing called sin in this world! Because every thing is a natural desire.. A thief's natural desire is to steal! That is how he feels.. How could it be wrong? Jesus said if you look at another women with lustful thoughts you have committed sin.. Period and close the chapter.. No more arguments!

And Islam... No offence though, but I believe that Christianity is the real religion... Islam has caused a lot of violence according to many people, and even priests say that Islam is a bad cult...

Then if that's how we are to progress there is no hope for us.

Fortunately, many parts of civilised society have left these medieval perceptions long ago in our past.

Spiritual realm would look like foolishness for unbelievers.. I don't think we should be discussing about this in this post.. This is a Christian forum.. So all answers are expected to be from a Christian faith perspective.. If there is a need to discuss whether the perspective of looking things should not be faith based, then that should be a separate thread..

And remember brother.. There is always hope in Jesus Christ.. There is no hope for us only without Him

Tubby, I don't really understand how controlling your thoughts effects humanity. I don't think that finding another woman sexually attractive is a sin. We are automatically attracted to certain features. But there is a difference from that and staring at a woman's breasts and thinking about what you'd like to do with them.

I think about it this way, I am married. Would I want someone to think about having sex with my wife? No, I wouldn't. But, if someone thought she was attractive it wouldn't bother me.

I try to imagine that every woman can read my mind so that my thoughts remain respectful.

Controlling the peoples thoughts has affected humanity profoundly, particularly over the last two millenia.

I agree.

I agree, although I don't try to guess what other peoples thoughts are. But yes, it doesn't make any difference what others think when they look at my wife (or me).

I try to imagine that every woman can read my mind so that my thoughts remain respectful.

That's a pretty good perspective I suppose, not really looked at it like that though.

Sure, trying to control others thoughts can cause issues, but I'm only trying to control my own thoughts and follow the Bible. Others can do what they want with their thoughts but there could be consequences later.

"Controlling the peoples thoughts has affected humanity profoundly, particularly over the last two millenia."

As well it should. People should control their own thoughts, just as they should control their behaviors.
From thoughts behaviors are born, evil thoughts lead to evil behaviors.
Those that will not control their behaviors will have their behaviors controlled for them.
That's why we have cops and prisons, and sadly, wars.

I wonder what question you'll come out with next Polly. Although i really do hope you are finding satisfying answers. We can all learn a lot here.

I was thinking more of an institution controlling peoples thoughts to keep them subdued and enslaved purely for the benefit of the few in power (and to increase their wealth and power at the same time).

Clearly those that are committing crime are a different matter entirely.

This is why I try to eat healthy.

If you act on those thoughts then you are giving into sin. If you have the thoughts then rebuke them in the name of Jesus.

I agree, and I understand you Polly..im only 22 so its a struggle.

My brother casts it down by speaking scripture against w/e bad thoughts he has.

I should be doing this ._.

Thoughts lead to manifestion, we are not strong at all..which is why we sin even when we try not to.

When you think you got itc, God will stepback and let you see wht you have..nothing.

Aside from governments and cults, what institutions would you be referring to that attempt to control thoughts and behaviors?

Oh, but I almost never manifest my thoughts... I can't even manifest my thoughts... It's impossible... But I do get aroused from the sexual thoughts what I like.
