Why Would God Be Interested In Creating Anything?

But god hardened his heart. It seems clear that the god of the bible is an abuser.
But was it not Pharoah who had the hard heart? He deserved punishment.

Theres an old saying, the same sun that melts the ice hardens the clay. Now whether you're ice or clay, is your own choice.

But in this case, God had to display his power.

You can, just not your own reasoning, it's faulty and filled with lies I'm afraid. Even if you do have some truth in you, you have no guidance from the ultimate Truth-giver.

Why? The god of the bible is not trustworthy. So who should I trust?

interesting that God said................ I am sure................ It's going to take lots of pressure on Pharaoh to let you go. Like not a causing, but just a knowing Pharaoh through the years. They way someone says something tells a whole lot.

Exo 3:19 And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you go, no, not by a mighty hand.

If I punched you in the face, it would be your fault? That is a very strange position.

Depends why you punched me in the face ;)
The Bible claims Jesus Christ as the Son of the Living God, the spotless lamb who spoke the very Word of Almighty God!

To say that the Bible says he is dodgy would be a lie. You meant to say how you see the Bible, correct?

Simples: why did Jesus curse a fig tree? I suspect that he was mentally ill: probably delusional of the grandiose type.

He did it to show his disciples something. That trees that did not bear good fruit would wither away, and be gathered into the fire.

Then why not just say that? What is with the cursing?
Seems childish: "I want a fig, but there are none. I hate you!"

Example 2: Why say turn the other cheek, but attack moneylenders?

Go read those passages and you'll find your answers.

I have read them and come to the conclusion that if jesus was a real person, he must have been mentally ill.

Now, why anyone think that a second hand account of the rantings of a mentally ill Jewish man is the word of a god?

Good question. Probably because he wasn't mentally ill, don't you think? ;)

He thought that he was the son of god, by today's standards he is mentally ill.

See the definition of grandiose delusions.

According to the DSM-IV-TR diagnostic criteria for delusional disorder, grandiose-type symptoms include grossly exaggerated belief of:
  • self-worth
  • power
  • knowledge
  • identity and
  • exceptional relationship to a diety or famous person.

Well you have to be mentally ill yourself to believe a mentally ill person, no? Are you saying everyone from our past is mentally ill?

He preformed miracles and fulfilled prophecy, he wasn't just some mentally ill person.

No. The jesus of the bible seems to quite charasmatic. Jim Jones was too, but he was clearly not in his right mind.

No.

Since we have no contemporary accounts of jesus, the simple answer is: we don't know.

There are only second hand accounts of jesus' life: they may be factual or fictional.

We all know from experience that the game of "telephone" never sucessfully transmits the original message.

Add into this equation that the bible has been edited, translated and copied by hand... there are multiple points of possible failure.

Even if it were a work of pure fiction, I would still be highly skeptical about the contents.
