Being Prophesied Over, What's Your Experience?

When it comes to prophets, I wonder..well from what I've experienced,

Like why do I have to gove them bits of info before they can see into my life...

Like heres an example, i went to church...and the prophet asked me what do I do in my church, and when I told her I was over outreach ministry...then she could see into my life ect...

So I just wonder how come sbe didnt know off the bat without me telling her,ya know?

What's your experience been like?

Also, how come there were more miracles done in Jesus day: eyes opening, healing physical and mental ailments...

Whats wrong with us?

Is it a lack of faith?

Lack of faith, lack of belief and lack of understanding that we are called to do the works of Christ.

Someone who is functioning in the prophetic or gift of knowledge shouldn't have to ask a thing of you. We need to be discriminating as to who we allow to speak in that way to us or over us. I have had people I know and trust speak over me and I still take it cautiously. I write it all down and date it and consult it every so often (like every two years or so), and so far, the things I have received have been right on the mark. One other intriguing prophetic word was spoken over me by one of our pastors and I have been watching my life unfold and it is most definitely turning out to have been something God had given him to say.

In fact, it was just about two days ago I was looking through some old computer files I saved and came across a prophetic message sent to me by someone I only knew as a name on a Christian message board in 2006, and I had just filed it away, but when I read it again Wednesday, I was flabbergasted at how personal and accurate the word was---it was indeed from God, as it strongly spoke to my spirit. Amazing....yet we must be wise and cautious.

Hey sister..judge everything..if someone wont allow what they say to be judged..then you should be very weary of such people! If its a real prophecy you will get some confirmation from the Lord.

those are not prophets .. those are fortune-tellers ..
BIG DIFFERENCE ..
I have met a slew of these "self proclaimed prophets and prophetess" ..
most tell fortunes for money just like the one Paul dispelled the demon from did ..

a prophet of God's prophecies, repeats God's words given them, and which affect ALL God's people .. God does NOT tell fortunes/personal divinations .. satan does ..

I already know my future ..
I will continue loving God as the center of my life until I die ..
what else matters of this life ???

Well that's the problem with me...I can't hear well from God...yet : /

You are most likely hearing the Lord, or you would not be here on this forum. Knowing where the Lord speaks to us is very important. Most think they will hear something in their head, or ears, which is not true. God is a Spirit and he speaks to us in our spirit. This is only something that can be learned over time as we learn to exercise our spiritual senses. If we do not know we have these it takes a lot longer to grow in the things of God. As the Apostle tells in the Book of Hebrews....

Heb 5:13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
Heb 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

As a born again Christians there are certain senses that have become awakened when you became a new creature in Christ.
It is really hard to get other Christians to see the meat of God's Word if they do not know about these senses. Paul said that the strong meat of God's Word is only given to those who have exercised these senses. Obviously what these senses are are a mystery to most. These spiritual senses are the exact counter part to our physical senses. Jesus was always saying these people have ears, but they do not hear, ad they have eyes, but they do not see. He was not referring to their physical senses for they all heard him, and saw him. He was referring to their spiritual senses that had grown hard. You sister, have the ability to hear, see, taste and lay hold upon eternal life. You first must know and believe you have them before you can begin to experience them. Once you know, expect God to speak to you through them. Thank the Lord for the Spirit of Wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him by having the eyes of your heart enlightened so you might see and hear the hope of his calling on your life.

That's so true.. I totally remember that verse..

Seeing and hearing but not really...
I can say that 80% applies to me x. D

But I agree.. I have to know and then believe...
Maybe I should study it...

Its just , I do hear but its at random times... every blue moon.. its not consistent like most plls

And you're right.. I have to expect that he'll speak..BC He operates by faith...but when I ask Him to speak to me...after a while I get nervous BC I don't want Him to be silent or miss Him...and most times that happens lol

EXACTLY!!!

Look at what 1 John 1:4 has to say about this:

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

-------------------------------

I received about 2-3 prophecies from different ministers/prophets/prophetesses before I accepted and believed what God was speaking into my life. Confirmation is a key either through what you already feel deep down in your spirit or from another sources etc.

We had a blindfold prophetic session in our church that I attended September last year. It was almost like a prophetic training session with the Holy Spirit. It was amazing! One person was blindfolded while the other one received the prophecy. The prophecy that I received was 100% accurate...Amazing Holy Spirit!!

Remember to test everything Pancakes :)

God Bless you

I think people confuse fortune telling with prophecy :) Bible clearly condemns fortune telling.. Many thing it is only for non-believers.. Actually it is for both believers and nonbelievers.. That is the way I take it..

When we talk about prophecy and the way God dealt with mankind, we can clearly see this progression.. First, God dealt with human race as a whole.. Then he was dealing with the nation of Israel.. Then finally, it became personal.. After Cross, Lord has been dealing with everyone personally.. Prophecy works hand in hand with this..

If we look at OT prophecies, it is very straight forward.. Come back to Lord, or else face the consequences.. The same was done by Enoch, Noah.. That time it was for entire human race.. Then the major and minor prophets dealt specifically with Israel.. Today, prophecies are about individuals.. But it does not change the purpose and matter of prophecy..

Another important factor to look into is that prophecies always centered around God.. People miss this point completely.. The events of Israel as a nation would finally culminate with Jesus and Cross.. Today people prophecy about things like what car they should buy..

Consider this..........."Today, there are no such things as Prophets".

Perhaps more than with any other label, we must use extreme caution when either demonstrating this gift or receiving it from others, because we are forewarned in the Word of God, 1 John 4:1.............
"Dear friends, do not believe everyone who claims to speak by the Spirit. You must test them to see if the spirit they have comes from God. For there are many false prophets in the world."

The gift of prophet was a temporary gift given by the Christ for the laying of the foundation of the church. Prophets were foundational to the church.

Ephesians 2:20.........
"And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone".

The prophet proclaimed a message from the Lord to the early believers. Sometimes a prophet’s message was revelatory (new revelation and truth from God) and sometimes a prophet’s message was predictive. The early Christians did not have the complete Bible. Some early Christians did not have access to any of the books of the New Testament. The New Testament prophets “filled the gap” by proclaiming God’s message to the people who would not have access to it otherwise. The Revelation was not completed until late in the first century. So, the Lord sent prophets to proclaim God’s Word to His people.

But the question is.....Are there true prophets today? If the purpose of a prophet was to reveal truth from God, why would we need prophets if we have the completed revelation from God in the Bible? If prophets were the “foundation” of the early church, are we still building the “foundation” today? Can God give someone a message to deliver to someone else? Absolutely! Does God reveal truth to someone in a supernatural way and enable that person to deliver that message to others? Absolutely! But is this the biblical gift of prophecy? No.

Whatever the case, whenever a person claims to be speaking for God (the essence of prophecy) the key is to compare what is said with what the Bible says. If God were to speak through a person today, it would be in 100% complete agreement with what God has already said in the Bible.

We all have see charlatans who will say anything to get money from those who should know better. It is one of the best know tricks of Satan when we hear those magic words........:"God spoke to me and said.................".

When you here that..........run!

Is it a lack of faith?

Yes, it lack of faith. Partly due to poor doctrine being preached to far too many, and partly due to the fact that most modern folks have been tainted by the modern world and their poor heads are filled with nonsense.

Holiness requires a certain simplicity of spirit, absolute obedience, and complete devotion.
Few are those who have the will to pursue it.
There have been a few wonder workers in the last century, Padre Pio is a good example. Monks and nuns tend to make the best saints, due to their calling they are already half way there. There have been a few Protestants that
have had various gifts also.

Be aware that there are a host of frauds out there also.
