Do You Believe Atheists "choose" To Go To Hell?

Again, you think you are superior.

That is a hurling insult you choose to believe. It is a ridiculous accusation and couldn't be further from the truth---plus I don't think that insulting others like this is permitted in this forum.

Believing that Jesus died for your sins and living accordingly makes you a Christian. You can believe that there is no hell and be a Christian.

Sure, one can be a Christian and believe there is no hell, but he'd be wrong. does a Christian want to believe wrong things? I don't think so. A Christian who desires to know the truth and believes something blatantly wrong needs correction. To rail against correction is immature and what God calls a stiff neck. A Christian open to truth welcomes correction.

I know many atheists and engage them in conversation quite a lot on the subject of faith and belief, and I don't think as many do that atheists are angry at God or simply being rebellious. I've seen the statement made that they are consciously choosing hell and while I disagree with the atheists, I do legitimately believe that they are not angry with God or in denial or anything of the sort, I think they just don't believe there's a God there at all.

As a personal belief, I don't think many people thoughtfully choose anything (including Christians!), however, the main thing, what I think keeps us separated from God is arrogance. I really believe humility, whatever you believe, goes a long way with God, and it is the arrogance of some that give them their "god-complex" which makes it impossible to be in communion with God. This is what either separates us from Him in Hell, or as I think, what makes our experience of Him hellish.

Anyone who is humble, I believe he will be led to truth. Others like to invent their own truth, so they don't have a need for God's truths. (And as I think about that statement I wonder if I just did that? Damn paradoxes!)

Okay.

I believe he'd be wrong too but that doesn't mean that his salvation is in question, which is what we're still talking about. No one believes something that they know is wrong. We each read the Bible and come away with what we believe is the most correct view.

It's funny you're talking about stiff necked people when I don't think you've admitted to being wrong once on this forum. Also, anyone who disagrees with you is not Spirit filled, according to you. Who is really stiff necked here?
I have no problem admitting I could be wrong in my beliefs, but I believe what I think is true. I'm open to other beliefs and at least hear others out before disagreeing with them.

Oh, @Euphemia, I find it interesting that instead of "disagreeing" with my post you mark it as "old." Is that solely because "disagree" is a neutral rating and "old" is negative rating?

I agree with you on a lot of your posts. I think the way you write a lot of your posts though give the impression that you are very confrontational. Since you are a Christian, I know you believe in the second greatest commandment, and I'm sure you love these folks that you are debating with. I think things could easily deescalate if you help them to see how much you love them, because it seems like they are getting the impression that you are being hateful to them. Maybe tell them you love them. Love conquers!

But that is not what we are talking about.

If we read the bible correctly---asking Holy Spirit to guide us, then we will come away with more correct understanding.

If I am wrong I admit it. I was wrong already today, and am not too proud to admit it. I said somewhere that the righteous will be present at the Great White Throne Judgment, as if it is a fact, when the bible doesn't really say much about that. It is my opinion.

I am glad you agree. Do you love them, where? Do you love me, even when you accuse me of being racist? Come on, now.

Anyhoo...I don't NOT love anyone. It is because I love God and people that I bother to offer what he has shown me in His word about things. If I didn't love others, I wouldn't bother, but just let people believe anything that comes down the pike without bringing what God says about it forward.

The hateful impression is a figment of one;s imagination. I feel despised...and rightly so.

I think you need to admonish PeaceLikeaRiver and Hunting about loving others here, also.

I am done with this thread. It has become a hurtful, abusive mess initiated by one who posted this:

...I have reached a period in my life where I have all questions and no answers, but it's not such a bad place to be. I hope to gain more enlightenment on this forum and to speak to many of you in the coming weeks and months.

Enlightenment has been offered by many...and spurned.

But that is not what we are talking about.

Oh my goodness! you said you were wrong somewhere? Link please! I must read it!
Insults and ugly comments should get an "old".

Shouldn't it get a dislike instead? Since you dislike my post? Old is when something is repetitive, I believe.

I think I hear someone crying wolf again. Did we back you into a corner?

I'm sorry but this sounds like your saying that you have some divine inspiration that your just "sharing" with others because you love them. No one here should claim to have superiority over anyone else when it comes to scripture or spirituality, because we're all learners first and teachers second. Jesus even says, "Call no man teacher, for you have only one Teacher who is God." So really, we're not even teachers, we're all learners and the Holy Spirit leads us to consensus on what He teaches to us, and everything else is a mystery.

You might have certain inspirations that we have not had, but likewise you can be certain others have had inspirations that you have not had, so it beseeches everyone to think themselves a learner rather than a teacher. And in a lot of ways we have all been (including me!) guilty of that.

SMH! I certainly am not claiming anything of the kind! I am being falsely accused! Read the thread.

Yes I love them, and yes I love racist people too.

What does I don't NOT love them mean? Is it too hard to say you love them?

Maybe the hateful impression is a figment of their imagination. So why not help others see that you do love them?

I'm not accusing you of anything! I'm just saying that's what you said was coming across as. But we've all been guilty of trying to "teach" instead of learn. It's just your post sounded like you were claiming superior knowledge which automatically puts everyone on the defensive.

Huh? I said before that I am done with this thread. Goodnight.

I said it seemed like you were claiming superior knowledge and that puts everyone on the defensive.

You said, no, its the other way around. The other way around would be everyone is put on the defensive so you claim superior knowledge.

I didn't understand either, I'm just trying to lighten the tension here.

I am being placed on the defensive against deliberately insulting speech.
