A Struggle With Time

There are very few places in the Bible that I struggle with. Lately though, I've been struggling with the amount of time that has passed since Jesus was crucified. I know Jesus will come again, but 2,000 years? Am I the only one that struggles in this area?

This is where remembering that He is The King and not us is crucial.

I see so many people that want to rush it along. Guessing when and saying things like Lord come quickly.

That to me is VERY selfish of them to say Lord come quickly. It irritates me as much as prayer in public, alms in public and taking God's name in vain other than in swearing. What I mean is when they pray for this and that and not end with IF IT BE YOUR WILL.

That one is probably my biggest irritation, using God like a jinn.

2000 years is long? What about when you divide it by a generation? 2000/70 = 28.

28 generations seems short to me!

I think God is going to allow this world to continue as long as there are a large number of Christians still learning and growing in Him. Scripture says it has to get like the days of Noah before the end, and I don't think we are close to that yet. But it will be unexpected.

Time it self is simply another form of God's mercy upon mankind. If it was not for time, God's judgment would have already come down and no one could be saved. He is not willing that any should perish but come to repentance.

See that's a problem... what is it to mean "days of Noah"? If it's just "evil" then California should have dropped into the ocean years ago from the porn and junk we've fed to the world. Then there's the ~52 million babies that have been aborted in America alone since 1973, or roughly 3322 babies murdered per day. That's the population of every man, woman and child in the states of California, Louisiana, Kentucky and Indiana combined! So again, I ask, what defines the "days of Noah" or the "days of Lot"?

I am certain I know what they are, but many cannot handle the truth, but we are most definitely in the last days.

It's taken a while because there have been things that have had to happen first.
The Gospel had to be preached to the entire world. That has not been even remotely possible until the last 50 years or so.
Israel had to be re-established - 1948.
The new temple has yet to be built (though they are ready).

Nope... I disagree... here's why... an angel is the one that does the preaching to the world...

Revelation 14:6-7 (KJV)
And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.

Yes on the other two comments :)

Could you suppose we have satellites that circle the earth preaching the Gospel through Christian TV, and radio stations? In fact there is a satellite called "Angel one" I think owned by TBN.

I suppose, but it's in every tongue and TBN doesn't do it in all tongues. How can they understand unless someone preach it to them... the scriptures are specific.

A generation is 20 to 25 years. So it's 80 to 100 generations.

The life of a man is 3 score and 10 (70 years). A Biblical generation is 70 years, not some abstract average of how long it takes for a woman to have her first child.

I do know they have many other stations all over the world preaching in many other languages other than english, but I am not sure how many, as I do not watch there station any more.

For good reason for sure... with that thought, do you still believe they are fulfilling prophecy?

You are confused as to the difference between a life span and a generation.

When I was new in the Lord I would watch TBN every day, and would even go to their broadcasting station and watch them live broadcast. But that was years ago. Paul Grouch who started TBN died a couple years ago, so I do not know how his son is running things.

Not well... I stopped watching them years ago when my spirit would cringe when they'd "preach"...
