Fornication

Fornication

This is something that I have been worrying about lately. I know I am guilty of it, but how large of a sin is it? Its so difficult for me to refrain from this and things such as lust. I dont know what to do. Please help me

Sin is sin.
It is ALL frowned upon by the LORD!
Pray and keep your eyes on God!

eph 5:5 -32

fornication is a lust of the flesh gal 5:16-22

are you married... .. you would also being Idolater who is not content with where God has you eph 5:5

in single ... see above

Three words are applicable- "abstain from it"-

For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication (1Thessalonians 4:3)

Sin is sin. You know you're sinning and you're willingly sinning. You have to give it up. I've struggled with the very same sin, and I always tried to shrug it off. Its still one I am tempted with, but once I brokedown and realised what my life had become, I knew I had God on my side, and he gives you strenth. When tempted pray. When in need take a cold shower, then a walk in the park. Whatever works?! Play video games, watch good TV, go see a movie and keep yourself busy. Those are the two keys I use.

I'm new at this but I'll try to give you advice.

Thinking strictly out of lust is thinking solely on earthly desires, desires of the flesh. When you commit the act of lust, you acknowledge that at that moment you will turn your thoughts away from God and choose to solely focus on and give into earthly desires and temptation.

Just try and keep it in your heart that you want to be with God and follow in his ways. Remember why you want to be with God. That through God you can truly live a righteous and good life, a life with meaning. Yes, these earthly desires may satisy you for the moment, but know that ultimately they will leave you feeling sad and empty if you choose to believe that they are the way to happiness. All of us struggle with sin, but we all have the desire to follow God and do what is right. Stay devoted to your faith and God with strengthen you.

Several things have to take place to win over lust:

(1) You must stop all activity that entraps you in that direction. TV, Computer, Places you go, People you hang with, etc. Make a list of all the areas in your life that feed your lust. Then eliminate all of them.

(2) You must now start to find new friends, places that don't tempt you or work toward defeating you. If you are married it is a willful decision to fall in love with your mate. Find a Godly couple or person of the same sex to hold your feet to the path of righteousness.

(3) You can go to Church, read the Bible, Pray, and do all the right things and still be defeated if you are opening yourself up to TV, Internet, and magazines that are secret. Expose your self to a trusted friend and ask them to call you and ask you the tough questions.

(4) The Holy Spirit is not going to sap you into Holiness, it is your choice, to do right, and then the Holy Spirit will fill you. If you resist evil it will flee and then God can work in and through you.

God Bless,
We will be praying for you on this end.
Gordon

While the Holy Spirit will not "sap" you into holiness He will be the only one who can truly live a holy life-you do make choices but without Him it is an exercise in religious futility- the letter still kills the Spirit still gives life-

Yep, I've struggled with this as well.

Try this.... if you're tempted to have sex, imagine "What if Jesus comes for His bride while i'm in the middle of having sex out of marriage?"

I don't know if a Christian will be left behind for sinning at the moment of the Rapture. I do know that Christ's blood covers a multitude of sins, but do you really want to chance it?

Besides that, even if you didn't get left behind, wouldn't it be rather embarrasing to be raptured during a slip into fornication?

When Jesus sets you free, you are truely free! So ask for forgiveness and turn from fornicating! He will break the chains and free you!

You can be as saved as eternity is long, indwelt with the Holy Spirit, but a life lived in sin is a defeated life and until a willful decision is made to stop, repent, and head in another directions by taking corrective actions, as I pointed out, all the Holy Spirit There is and that is all of God will not give you or me or anyone victory until we obey by turning and changing. That is why as Christians we are told to “turn from sinâ€. Power is in obedience, not possession, sin quenches and renders us helpless, obedience is the opposite. Victory and a close fellowship with Christ is found in obedience. It is at that point we are filled. Filled implies one posses salvation / already indwelt by Christ. That is what I advised and it is 100 percent sound Scriptural advice.

I assume the person ask the question as a Believer, so salvation is not an issue and indwelling is a fact. Repent means turn, but not only turn - turn and follow a new direction. That is, again, what I advise.

Thank You for your view Gordon - I love you in Jesus Name.

I love you too, but a believe cannot keep the pants on if they don't turn form the things that entrap, snare, and defeat. A person must stop and run or there will be not victory. Joseph ran, he did not stop to kneel and pray, find a favorite bible verse to quote at Satan, etc., He Ran, He Turned, He Fled. We all must run regardless of the pain, consequences, loss, repercussions, because following righteousness in never easy but spiritually rewarding and pleasing to God.

THis is my view on this matter:
Gal 5:16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.
Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
Gal 5:18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Gal 5:23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Gal 5:24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
Gal 5:25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

I have found new life in Christ and am dead to the old, alive to the new- this is the source of my fleeing, turning, walking away etc- not vice-versa- but that is my walk so I can only speak for myself. blessings Larry
