Where do babies go when they die?

If we are born into sin when we come into this world, and thus we are without God and without hope and destined to spend eternity in hell, then what happens to babies who were aborted or children who have not reached the age where they know right from wrong and can understand their need of a Savior?

Personally I believe that they are with God, yet I don't have a lot of scriptural support for this belief. So, I was wondering what you believe and if you would not mind sharing the scriptures you believe support your belief. Thank you!

My personal belief is that they will be with God. Anyone who is unable to make a conscious decision that they are in a state needing Jesus in their life and cannot realize their sinful state - probably God will extend his grace and mercy on them. Only that would be synonymous with His character.

Probably the closest verse/incident would be death of David's son after he gets caught for the sin with Bathsheeba.. David says he will see his child once again. That is the closest indication we have in Bible I guess

Thank you. I think many people use a verse where Paul says something about him being alive without the law but when the law sprang to life he died or something like that. I know what I believe, but I just don't have much scriptural support for it, so I was hoping others had studied this before and might be able to share their knowledge with me. Thanks so much for your reply.

Matt 19:14 Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." + the rest of scripture.

Scripture points to God being good...and sane. Nobody on this planet would send a baby to hell. Only a mad man would think that of God / serve that God.

But what does happen I believe is that just like the devil is released from the abyss in Rev 20 in the millennium and placed on earth to tempt mankind for the last time (mankind that has lived with Jesus and us saints for almost 1000 years)...so too can we expect children to get their day.

All the evidence points to God giving free will to humans. If God put the devil with Adam and Eve + He is impartial = what should be an obvious conclusion.

God isn't only mercy and grace and good. God also a God of wrath and punishment. God is holy and can't stand unholiness. So the question is, is a baby holy or not. I don't think so. That means that God could send them to hell without becoming insane. I think that God look at the parents. Are they christians then its ok, if not then hell it is.

Exodus 20 5 thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6and showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

If you look to Noah he has room for his family and the animals. There wasn't room for all the baby's that lived then.

1 John 1:8 If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

Having sin NEVER equaled receiving God's wrath. Please try understand that. We all have sin. Loving sin, different story. A baby can't love darkness like those described in John 3:19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

Did people in Abrahams bosom experience God's wrath like those in Hades? They all had sin.

Absolutely God is holy.. He cannot tolerate unholiness. That goes with us as well right. We are not holy. We are filthy. What makes us stand before God boldly? It is imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ. When we confess Jesus as Lord and Savior, we are justified. We are justified through faith. If a person is not capable of making that decision, does it mean they are always doomed for hell? God's mercy and grace is beyond our comprehension. That is why I firmly believe people who cannot make such decisions will have God's grace.

There is a difference between drowning to death and going to hell / receiving God's wrath.

Babies who drowned to death either went to heaven or Abrahams bosom.

Having sin isn't the issue. All have sin. Believing is the issue. In Hebrew 11 you can read why Abraham was saved. In the bible we read that not only the sinners where punished but the whole family or country. But we can also read that not 1 person was blessed but his whole family. So I believe that depending on the faith of the parents babies go one place or the other.

I can't believe we even having this discussion!

Why not. Different groups of people are topic of discussion whether or not they are saved. Why not discussing the little ones.
It's not that I like that they are not saved. I'm glad that I am not the one to make such decisions.

1. Are you serious?? The devils believe James 2:19. Are they going to heaven over the babies?
2. Yet again you seem unable to differentiate between earthly death and hell fire punishment.
3. So my kids will burn for my sins? You really believe that? Your exegesis of that passage is terrible.
4. Adults with working brains are light years away from monkeys, babies and mentally handicapped. Will God be sending monkeys to hell too?
5. I agree 100000000% with that line!!!

That scripture about recieve the Kingdom as a child means we have to believe with Child like faith.

Parents who have covenant with God, the Childern share that same coveant else the childern were unclean. For the child is santified by the believing parent.

Don't get confused with Children dying early, without their parents having a covenant with God, and where children go after death. Mieppi is mistaken.
(1 Cor 4:7)

Rom 5:13 kjva (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.

Col 3:20 kjva Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

There are zero scriptures telling kids to obey God. The law they are under are their parents who should train them they way they should go, that they depart not from it when they get older. The obedience to parents is a child's law, by which the Law of God to convict of sin is not imputed on them. The children are not under the law of God, but of the parents. No law, no sin.

However, the bible is very clear where babies go.

Heb 11:13-16 kjva 13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them, and embraced them, and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. 15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. 16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

Deu 6:3 kjva Hear therefore, O Israel, and observe to do it; that it may be well with thee, and that ye may increase mightily, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee, in the land that floweth with milk and honey.

The Promised land God would give them was a sign of what was to come. A land built by God in the heavens. A better country to live in a better place.

Num 14:23 kjva Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it:

Num 14:29-31 kjva 29 Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me,

31 But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised.

God never changes.......... The promised land the People of Israel despised, God, depsite the parents disobedience, brought the Young ones in to the the Land of Promise. A sign of Heaven to come, a Home built by God in heaven, a better country.

Parents who have covenant with God, the Childern share that same coveant else the childern were unclean. For the child is santified by the believing parent.
That is what I believe to. No problem there.
Mieppi is mistaken.
Maybe I am. So show me. :)
Rom 5:13 says before the law, but we have the law now. Why should it not count for everyone.

Your text from Hebr 11 doesn't speak about children. Its speaks about full grown people. The other texts is all about the Israelites wich where under a convenant. They had received the promiss of God that they would get to that land.

Could you explain how you come from children who had parents under the covenant to children that has no parents under a covenant treated the same way.

Hos 4:6 kjva My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

Deu 30:19 kjva I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

As you can see in both scriptures. Parents whom God called "MY PEOPLE" still had the possibility of not being safe.
The condition was to choose Life (Now through Jesus) and Choose to be blessed (Choose to believe all the promises in our great covenant)

Choosing life is not enough, and what the Parent believes will effect a child, even if the person is saved.

Whole lots of believers don't know the will of God concerning sickness, lack understanding of lots of things.
That also effects the child.

Children never had to answer to God. NO scripture anywhere is a child responsible before God.

Children have to answer to parents, and we see if the parents be God's they child could be safe, if the Parents are not God's, then they children can suffer horrible fates.

Lots of stupid people ask, if Our God was real, why does Our God let children Suffer........... God already gave his Word on the subject and told us how to keep our children safe.

Got that clear?

The Law handed down to Moses to lead Israel to the promise land (Sign of Heaven to come Heb 11) were for the adults. The law was to be given to the children through the adults. (Many scriptures on instructing your children)

The Child is not spiritualy responsible for keeping the law, but to obey the parents.

When Isreal would not trust God, and murmured against God, I bet the children followed suit. I am sure they complained just like Mom and dad.

God said.......... Even though YOU said your children shall be prey, I will bring them to the promise land 19 or younger.

So God set a 19 or younger limit to any child, even with disobedient parents to be able to enter into the promise land. A sign of a better place to come.

When It comes to just protecting and keeping a child safe on earth, then that is not the promise land, not heaven, and under the covenant and belief the parents share with God.

So a 19 or younger is to young and foolish in God's eyes to make a eternal choice. They would be under the parents to obey the parents.

Thank you all for your comments. My sister died today, so I am heavy at heart over the loss of her, but I rejoice that she is with Jesus.

Paul says that when the law revive within, he died. I take that to mean that with an understanding of God's requirements we are condemned until we accept His Gift, Jesus Christ. With the law written on our hearts when we come to the epiphany of right and wrong, we are innocent. This reasoning center isn't fully developed until early 20's, but everyone is different. I accepted the Lord at 11. Without the law we are innocent and the Lord takes that into consideration and a baby would go to heaven with the spirit it had been given. That's my take on the subject.

Yes, it is a mixture of sad and happy. She suffered for many years physically and emotionally. Now she is truly free! I rejoice in that.

Lady Sue

Thanx for your post.
Children who died and did not know the Gospel or know God will all be saved! They are known as the children of God! Those who know God and his Gospel of salvation and did not accept God or his plan of salvation are known as children of satan.
The decieved who reject the truth by the power of satan's deceptions will also be known as the children of satan. Satan has deceived the whole world! Rev 12: 9 but not the Elect! Matt 24: 24
The redeemed have been chosen from the foundation of the world in other words before they were conceived in their mothers womb. Rev 13: 8
