Lets discuss LOVE

Um. Sorry I failed logic 101. I have no idea what you talking about.

As I understand it, St. John says:
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

The statement mention in post# 57 "If you do not love you not a Christian"

I think that may not be a valid derivative from St. John statement.....
...the most I can assume is at least described in verse 20.

1 John 4:20-21New King James Version (NKJV)
20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can[a] he love God whom he has not seen? 21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.
But if you do have scriptures on love its all good. :)

Matthew 22:35-40New King James Version (NKJV)
35 Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”
37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[
a] 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

just a thought on the topic....combining John and Matthew : )
if one does not follow no. 2, how can one follow no. 1

Well, the commandments in that order for a reason, do commandment one and you can find it easier to do commandment 2. Its much harder to do 2 if you havent done 1. Thats what I found for me anyway.

Oh yes, that is very insightful, a good reminder for me.... : )

Believing , trusting no. 1 will help us do no. 2....

I was thinking about this and your disclaimer aha and realise our God is a God of order not of confusion, for example when he created the universe he did it step by step in six days...he did not just explode the universe randomly like how some evolutionists believe.

He had a hand in everything and personally fashioned man from dust. Isnt that wonderful? he is like the ultimate artist cos hes The Creator.

And he made all the trees and every living thing and when you think of all the things he made, some highly unsusual and thrilling to see, its just amazing...and he did it out of LOVE.

Without obeying the first commandment the others can never be done! If we truly "love" God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength, then we will believe (have faith) in every single word God says! It was because of his faith in the Word of God that Abraham was fully persuaded that what God had promise he (God) was also able to perform!
