Paradise and Heaven

would like to discuss this.
What will it be like?
Is there a difference between paradise and heaven?
What will the new heaven and earth be like do you reckon? What part are you looking forward to the most? Who, aside from our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ the King, would you like to meet? Saints from ages past, people mentioned in the Bible, or your own family and friends who are saved?

What fun things do you think we will do?

Hello Lanolin.
From my heart...

What will it be like?
Unconditional love of complete adoration, devotion and oneness.
Is there a difference between paradise and heaven?
Not my concern, or care to know.

What fun things do you think we will do?

You asked.......
"Is there a difference between paradise and heaven?"

There is actually not a lot of information on Paradise. There is a lot on Torments in Luke 16 so IMO the opposite of those things in Torments would apply to those who were in Paradise.

Today there is no one in Paradise as Christ took those saints spirits with Him to heaven when He assended. The wicked lost will be in the Torments side of Sheol until the 2nd Resurrection and then they will be standing before Christ at the Great White Throne Judgment.

Then you asked..........
"What will the new heaven and earth be like do you reckon?"

We have the Word of God in Rev. 21 that tells us what it will be like.

There will be no more SEA. (Rev. 21:1)
That alone will change the climate and atmoshere. It will make it possible for more people to grow food and prosper.

It would be well to remember that God promised Abraham a LAND forever and David a throne forever. Daniel said that "........a kingdom which shall never be destroyed (Dan. 2:44).
The New Earth will see the total fulfillmeant of those promises.

Then you asked...........
"What part are you looking forward to the most?"

NO MORE FUNERALS!

Then you asked...............
"Who, aside from our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ the King, would you like to meet?"

Personally I find that impossible to answer and since I will be there for an eternity it is not something I have to even think about. Time does not matter so there will be no hurry to see anyone.

Having said that I am thinking maybe I would like to see Noah so I could ask him why in the world he brought those two mosquitos on the Ark.

Major why you think nobody is in paradise, if there are peoples souls in sheol? Has heavens gates already been opened? Arent people still dying and going there? Hell has not been kindled to flame yet and I think heaven is being prepared. Wedding supper being prepared.

I like your answer NO MORE FUNERALS. Good one.
I have long list of ppl Id like to meet in heaven..of course being there for eternity wont meet them all at once.

Of course we have that imporatant revelation from John a picture of what heaven is like, without that book in the bible we wouldnt know about our final destination. I always picture how fun it will be in the heavenly Jerusalem walking round with Jesus. And in the new earth, everything being restored to how it was meant to be.

No one is in Paradise, because all who have been there are now in heaven as Jesus has opened the way for them. They couldn't enter heaven before Jesus their Messiah had come and bought their ransom.

are you sure?
It might take Jesus some time for them to enter heaven. I mean even I have to wait in a queue to see or do stuff. Don't we all have to go through Jesus? People dying everyday, and Jesus giving them personal attention. God can't have destroyed paradise, if Jesus said to the thief dying on the cross, today, you be with me in paradise. He didn't say 'the kingdom of heaven'.

Please show me in scripture where it is that paradise got destroyed, or is completely empty. I mean, no harm waiting a while, we all in eternity...but I think you'd see your loved ones first and have angels around before you enter the city gates. Even ppl who have near death experiences talk about paradise but not actually heaven cos our Father is right in there on the throne. Idk.

I just know that...there must be a garden where you find your rest before being crowned and having supper.

Also, the great crowd of witnesses - people who can vouch for what you say is true that you believe in Jesus and are truly saved. People who you know were kind to you on earth and showed you Jesus love. Even when you were in sin. Won't they be testifying before God and telling Him your name was written in the book of life and this is what you did on earth? And wiping away any sin from your name? (you will be given a new name on a special white stone).

are you sure?

Completely.

Time is a non-entity in the Kingdom.

When Jesus said to the thief that he will be with Him in Paradise, He meant it. He went there that day. Jesus was there and revealed Himself as their long-awaited Messiah. Jesus gave them their salvation and led them out to heaven. No believer who dies goes to Paradise now---he goes to Jesus!

I think more bible study is required, for you seem to miss the truth of all believers never being separated from Jesus in life or death. Paradise was a separation.

Ephesians 4:9 (AMP)

[But He ascended?] Now what can this, He ascended, mean but that He had previously descended from [the heights of] heaven into [the depths], the lower parts of the earth?

Jesus “first descended into the lower parts of the earth"---to set the captives free and to take the keys of hell away from Satan. Because of that, we now have victory over death!

Revelation 1:18
I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.

The bible teaches us that paradise was in Hades, because that is exactly where Jesus went upon His death, right after telling the thief next to him on his cross that "Today you will be with me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:43)

Jesus even mentioned it (as Abraham's Bosom) in His parable of Lazarus and the rich man.

Luke 16:22-23 (AMP)
And it occurred that the man [reduced to] begging died and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.
23 And in Hades (the realm of the dead), being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far away, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Scripture supports that Hades included hell (for unbelievers) and Paradise or Abraham's Bosom for the righteous.

Luke 16:26
And besides, there is a great chasm separating us. No one can cross over to you from here, and no one can cross over to us from there.’

Furthermore, Paradise is not heaven simply because of what Jesus said to Mary Magdalene upon His resurrection:

John 20:17

“Don’t cling to me,” Jesus said, “for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

You cannot take NDE's as proof of anything, as Satan is a fairly good mocker and anyone who is not saved has no spiritual discernment and can be deceived greatly.

I just know that...there must be a garden where you find your rest before being crowned and having supper.

You think, but do not know. There's a point you need biblical backup for.

Um something wrong with your interpretation, paradise is not Hades.
hades is BELOW. paradise is not hades.

You quoted scripture and still cant see it.
Lazarus was in abrahams bosom, the rich man was in hades. There was a huge wide chasm separating them. how could paradise be in hades? You are wrong. Rich man lifted UP his eyes. lazarus was in Paradise.

Sorry you are just wrong, and I can see that by reading scripture that you just posted!

Nope. Paradise was the part of Hades reserved for the righteous. It is all "below".

Matthew 12:40
For as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.

Lazarus was in Abraham's Bosom, in Hades while the rich man was in his separate place---in Hades. I am not wrong.

Paradise is Abrahams bosom. (I just laugh at this) Lazarus was with Abraham. Abraham was the first to go there.

When Paul was caught up to the 'third heaven' he meant paradise - obviously anybody who has actually been to heaven couldn't come back!!! You must die to go there. The Kingdom of Heaven's gates are not open yet, at least, I don't believe so. Jesus hasn't returned, bringing the Kingdom to earth with him and also...there will be a NEW heaven and earth.

Therefore, the righteous must be in paradise. Once inside Heaven, you meet our Father and Jesus is at his right hand at the throne. Paradise is the garden outside the gates. If you met Jesus and father at the throne then you already be rewarded (or judged). Judgement day has not happened yet.

We all going to be judging angels in heaven. Till then those in paradise are the 'great cloud of witnesses' in Hebrews watching over us. They have not received their reward yet, but they are resting till eternity, and they will be received into the holy city.

I suppose if you want to believe different you can. But I wouldn't ignore scripture on it and insist it didn't mean what it said.

I don't know how long the wait is...but I imagine they busy every single day with more people giving up their spirit.
The reason why nobody in heaven at the moment is because the resurrection hasn't happened yet! We going to be in our glorified bodies!! On the last day!
At the moment, when people dying, only their souls going to paradise or hades. Their bodies haven't been risen or completely destroyed in hell yet. I don't see anybody rising bodily to heaven right now, do you???

Only Jesus.

Ok. I can see some ppl believe totally different things. Don't worry you still saved but I don't know what you tell your children. I remember reading a memoir written by someone who's family believed in the pre-trib rapture, and as a child, the guy totally believed in it and one day, his family had gone away without letting him know, and he thought that the rapture had happened and he'd been left behind. lol!

Don't ignore the words of Jesus telling the criminal on the cross that he would be with Him THAT DAY in Paradise, but three days later He told Mary Magdalene that He had not yet ascended to the Father.

I read Luke 16 as fact and not a parable... fits the idea of why Jesus told the theif on the cross he's be with Him in paradise that day. I believe Jesus was the first into heaven as a Man to pay the price of admission, which is why Jesus told Mary not to touch Him since He had not yet gone to the Father (a mysterious verse to say the least). Now when a saint dies, they go right to heaven as Paul said.

Everyone who is righteous and has died is in heaven now. That they have not experienced their resurrection doesn't prevent their spirits from being with Jesus. The resurrection provides them with their glorified new physical bodies they'll need to experience the Wedding to the Bridegroom, who is also in His glorified flesh, and to live and work on earth when they come with Him to rule with Him in the Millennium.

They on their way to heaven...present with the Lord - Jesus. But they not inside with God the Father.
Cos wedding supper hasnt happened yet. Jesus still preparing the bride.

If you believe different, well, I dont really see any scripture about that. When we pray the Lords prayer we always praying the Kingdom to come to earth. We want Jesus to return dont we? In book of Acts, they said he would come back. If there is no resurrection, only 'rapture', your faith is in vain.

Jesus Christ came in the FLESH. He is coming back the same way he went up. In his glorified body, not just a spirit.

Yes the parable is straight forward. Rememeber the righteous have always been going to paradise but its Jesus who alone can save people and prepare heaven for them.
Why is this parable in the gospels? Because of the rich man, in hades. Jesus was warning those in hades, that they cannot cross to paradise and go to heaven. And some are so stubborn, they wont even believe even if someone came back from the dead..and only Jesus did this.

Hades is the holding place for people who going to be in hell, which will be kindled at the end of the age. heaven likewise is final destiny and eternity for those in paradise. If you think people in heaven already, then there must be people in hell already. But I dont see any evidence of it, do you???

Heaven is going to come to earth, like it said in revelation. Hell is going to consume the old fallen earth and pass away. We have faith that this is so because Jesus told us, he revealed it to us in his Word.
