Looking for some information on fellowship groups

I have to admit that I really do not like going to Church, I do not like the format it is set up on and I really do not like singing those hymns. More often than not I also tend to not agree with the pastor on everything he is saying so it simply makes me want to get out of that place.
But having recently come back to Christianity I can tell that I really need to get into some sort of fellowship with other Christians, looking forward to it actually, so I was wondering if anyone might have some experience with other types of Christian fellowship that may be available that does not require going to a building on Sunday and repeating the same stuff over and over.

Thanks.

Jesus laid down what our fellowship should look like: assembling together with like-minded believers to enjoy one another and to worship God together. That includes praying together, singing and even dancing before the Lord together, encouraging and exhorting one another, teaching and learning from teachers of the word, ministering in the gifts we've been given, training and submitting to training in ministry, and taking what one gains from all this to the world.

It's called "church". There is nothing better.

Church isn't about us, and what we like and don't like. It's about Jesus and about what we need to do for Him which in turn benefits us spiritually. When we stand before Him in adoration, and shout praise to God when we don't feel like it, we are enlarged spiritually, and in the end, changed. When we hear the odd thing from our pastors that we may disagree with, we have the opportunity to weigh sides, seek God and His word, and after that, change our mind, or learn to love and submit to our God-placed leaders despite a difference.

It's all good.

I really don't recommend avoiding worship services.
You could do a little research and find one that has a ministry that concentrates on serving Christians similar to you (Men's ministry, Student ministry). Your profile says you are a full time student. You could look around campus.

But I do STRONGLY recommend that you find a congregation that you can serve and that can serve you.

Hebrews 10: 24,25 NASB
And let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

I get that but does the Bible command that our singing be to extremely boring songs? Can't they throw in an electric guitar and some drums once in awhile?

And why does every single pastor sound exactly the same, emphasize the exact same words. The messages are great but the format makes it very unpalatable and not very uplifting whatsoever.

It seems to me that you are having an issue with STYLE. There are churches whose strength is in contemporary worship. Ask God to lead you to one of HIS choosing for you, and BINGO! You're IN!

I must say, though, that boredom is YOUR problem. God loves a heart that worships Him in spirit and in truth---and with all his heart. He is never bored.

Where can I go to worship like this?
There are plenty of churches that worship like that. Usually Pentecostal churches tend to have that type worship and "lively" service.

In all honesty the message presented I more important than how it is presented so just be careful that the church you end up becoming part of is teaching the whole word of God and rightly dividing it.

Thank you very much for the advice, I will definitely pay attention. What is Pentecostal though?

A lot of churches have contemporary worship. Drums, Electric Guitars, joyous music. One that I know of has a different format for the sermon, including audio/visual presentation to illustrate the message.

A pastor that I learned a great deal from said that there is no demonic/irreverent music forms, only demonic/irreverent lyrics. Whatever music moves you can move you to build up your faith,

Many churches will offer both traditional and contemporary formats, and provide for combined fellowship so that they can reach a wide range of needs and avoid dividing the congregation,

Pentecostal is a Christian denomination that that does not deny the gifts and working of the Spirit in a believers life and tends to emphasize it.

Thank you! That is just what I am looking for so I guess its time to start looking for one now that I know they exist.

Let the Lord lead yoou to the church of HIS CHOICE. There you will find the worship as you enjoy and even though you may not always agree with the message this is a good thing other wise you would not ever grow. God does have a place where He wants you planted.

Pray and ask Him to lead you and depending on your relationship with Him will determine how He will get it through to you.
Blessings

He has led me to things already, I just came back to Christianity so its almost like starting over but I am finding that my biggest problem is patience. I am working on it though and thankfully many of you here have been an enormous help to me even if you do not know it.

I thank you all for that more than I can say.

God bless you!

Just remember the patience part is going to come for persecution comes for the words sake or another words do you really think our enemy the devil is going to let this be easy for you ? his plan always is to steal, kill and destroy so just chalk it up to our enemy the devil fighting against you staying now that you have come home. It is his ( devil )plan and desire to get you to turn against God and run away.

Just stand true to His word and it will all begin to fall into place. God is always Faithful to His word.
God Bless

I know that this is not a popular suggestion, but also look for word of faith. There are many good one out there. It just depends upon where you live.

Father, thank you for guiding spookycolt to the right church where they will be fully satisfied and fed. For You know who will encourage them and speak their language. Speak to their heart Lord and bless them with the fellowship and spiritual food that they desire. In Jesus Name, Amen!

Blessings! We will be praying that you find the right place to be planted and worship.

Salvation Army. You go to the homeless and serve in soup kitchens and foodbanks.

Also, they have brass bands, and they do not mind proclaiming the gospel right on the street.

Methodists do not just meet in church on sundays, they meet in peoples homes any day of the week.
Quakers do not sing at all, they just meet and sit in silence, theres not even any sermon.

Theres some churches that are sabbath day keepers, so fellowship on saturday, instead of sunday.

If you dont want to sit still in a pew, join the children in Sunday school.
Churches that dance around and do big performances like a rock concert attract goats. They are not really worshipping the Lord just entertaining themselves. I know as have been there. satan enjoys this kind of worship. Im sorry to say. Our heavenly Father is very particular about His music, and it does say in the bible to make melody in your heart, singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs - ephesians 5:19
He also says those that worship me with their lips but their hearts are far from me...be sure you have the right attitude, that you are thinking of the Lord Jesus Christ and not your own flesh.

Theres many full gospel churches that have lively choirs, they sing in the spirit.

So...why be like David's wife, Michal, thinking she knew what blessed God, but really didn't, and paid dearly for her scorn?
