Death

Not too long ago something happened with me.
Ever since then I've been a different person, the same but different at the same time. One of those differences is fear. I've become a lot more afraid since then, especially about death. Somehow that day was able to rewire my entire brain so both my concious and subconcious mind constantly thinks about death, specifically me dying. It keeps bringing up me dying soon, mainly specifying a heart attack, considering that day had to do with pressure in my chest (which was actually stomach related).

I know God says not to worry about tomorrow because we have enough to deal with today, but this has been a daily thing now. I've been praying about it a lot and these thoughts STILL will not leave me. It's like fleas on a dog.
Does anyone know of any way I can stop this? Especially the subconscious part, since that's a lot harder to tell it to stop since it's not thoughts you can control on the fly the way we can with our conscious part of the brain.

And then I think about death in general. I just can't wrap my head around it. I really don't understand it and hate the fact that it's not something you can control (for the most part). I mean just look at all these deaths that happened just in the last week. Sometimes it even makes me think that thought we as Christians don't mean to think, the "what if after you die, that's it" thought. Of course we know better, but still can't help but think it sometimes.
I just want to stop thinking I'm going to die all the time, I want to stop being anxious all the time. I just want to be normal. I can't even get a job at the moment because just leaving the house causes me to burp a lot and the longer I'm out, that's when the chest pressure starts.

While I cannot speak of your experience I can relate to it. I too have been confronted with fear of death. It brought me to the conclusion that that was a part of me that was not fully surrendered to the will of
God. Once I surrendered myself to "thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven" and placed my life in his hands the fear dissipated. As the word says "our lives are not our own, since we have been bought at a price", therefore I have no need to fear death or evil, as Psalm 23 says.

God will not tempt us beyond what we can bear...

Fear can bring many bad things into a persons life, even death. Job said, "that which I have greatly feared has come upon me". (Job 3:25) Fear often times brings "panic" attacks that have symptoms exactly like having a heart attack!!
Fear is a "spirit", and it is designed is to keep you from doing the will of God, and preventing God to work on your behalf. Faith is the complete opposite of fear, and it brings peace, knowing the Lord your God will operate for your benefit. (fear moves the devil, faith moves God) If you want to be free from what you are experiencing then you need to begin confessing the Word of God over yourself, and come against the spirit of fear in your life in the name of Jesus Christ. Here are just a few scriptures to start with.

2Ti 1:7.. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

1Pe 3:10.. For the Scriptures say, "If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies.

Pro 17:22.. A merry heart doeth good like a medicine: but a broken spirit drieth the bones.

Pro 14:30.. A tranquil heart gives life to the flesh, but envy makes the bones rot.

Pro 18:14.. A man's spirit will endure sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear?

Pro 4:23.. Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Pro 12:14.. Wise words bring many benefits, and hard work brings rewards.

Greetings:
My advice:
Get a notebook, and write down all these thoughts.Do a weekly review. From a distance,it will be obvious, that some evil-spirit is trying to take down an elephant with a pop-gun.
bye

Christian faith is all about surviving the first death (of the body) and having the promise and hope of resurrection on Judgment Day to life
eternal. Even Jesus died, so that we may have spiritual life in him in order to go on into the eternities. To live forever with God and the angels.

Why are you afraid of death, ThomasA? How is your confidence in the salvation of Jesus? What is it that you are doubting?
KJV - 1Johnn 4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment.
He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
CEV - 1John 4:18 A real love for others will chase those worries away. The thought of being punished is what makes us afraid.
It shows that we have not really learned to love.
GNB - 1John 4:18 There is no fear in love; perfect love drives out all fear. So then, love has not been made perfect in anyone who is afraid,
because fear has to do with punishment.

Is there a fear, Thomas, that you're not ready to meet the Lord? Are you fearful that if you die, you are not yet worthy or perfect?
Well neither am I perfect or worthy. But, I walk in faith and submit to the Word of God. I pray daily for my faith, my heart and soul.
But in the end I rely upon grace and mercy. The Lamb of God who gave himself for me. I make sacrifices daily for his promised rewards...

GNB - Ephesians 2:8 For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God's gift,
so that no one can boast about it.
KJV - Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

As for your illness resulting in pain and distress - go to your prayer line and pray for a healing. Or see your doctor for treatment.
Deal with your body and its ailments. Don't go on suffering.

Hi I know how you feel, after my uncle died, and alot of other things happened the fear of death, and dread in general loomed over my head like a dark cloud. I was so paralyzed that I couldn't do much..

Anxiety really is hard to deal with; but

Here are some tips :

1) Dont watch things that will provoke anxiety( news, horror movies,ECT.)

2) fill your mind with positivity

3) keep busy, when ur busy you dont have time for those thoughts...

4) just keep praying..

5) know that eventually it'll get easier

I can relate. For me it was anxiety. Can you get involved in a hobby, sport or some activity that will distract you from what is causing you to be anxious? You may need to actually "Work" on getting yourself out of your anxiety. If it worsens, you could seek medical assistance. Once you are able to address your anxiety the other worrying thoughts will silence. Be Well.

Fear brings unbelief. And it will rob the joy of salvation. The best defense would be Armor of God. Meditate on those words and bring them into reality in your life. I am not sure if you are worried about other things like who is going to take care of family or any unattended business. You might always feel like you have not done enough! May be you need to more expressive with your family and close ones. You will realize you would have already done more than enough! :)
