fear of going to the house of God

So what does one do when you have actually have grown a fear of going to God's house (Hebrews 10:25)?

Right now really feeling under the weather and should have faith for God's healing but find I really don't. I bring this up because I find myself not faithful but double minded, James 1:5-6
Hence my fear of going to church, I believe God will bless others but not myself.

To start with read Proverbs 3, Isaiah 55, Luke 17, and Romans 28. Afterward pay particular attention to the following (underlined portions chosen by me)...

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV): Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV): “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Romans 8:28 (NKJV): And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Luke 17:10 (NKJV): So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.’”

Do not make the mistake of limiting God to your understanding or to the understanding of other people. What God defines as a blessing takes into account the moment we are in and times and events to come.
Those who teach or believe that their own faith has to be strong for God to bless them follow a God constructed of their own desires and not the God that scripture shows us.
It is our task to follow Jesus, and we cannot follow Him unless we trust Him.
We have to understand that His knowledge, His power, and HIs wisdom infinitely exceed our own. He is not limited by our level of faith.

He only requires that our faith be in Him and in Him alone.

Whether we have money or not, whether we have good or poor health, whether we feel like we have or have not accomplished something are all irrelevant.

All those other things might be nice, but ultimately they are only distractions.

We need only trust in and follow Jesus. One day at a time, one step at a time, one breath at a time, one heart beat at a time. Simply trust and follow.

If you don't like going to a particular church it's not your fault, so try another and another until you find one where you feel comfortable and enjoy going.
If you can't find one, stay home rather than force yourself to go to one where you feel unhappy..:)
Anyway God is everywhere and is too big to be confined just to churches.
"God, who made the world and everything in it..does not dwell in temples made with hands" (Acts 17:24)
God says "Heaven is my throne, earth is my footstool, how can you build a house for me?" (Isaiah 66:1)
"Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?" declares the Lord . "Do not I fill heaven and earth?" (Jeremiah 23:24)

In a sense the Earth itself is a church, the land is the floor and the sky is the roof!

Sounds to me like you are not realizing how much God loves you (1Jn 2:15b). Lots of people (like me) have grown up thinkin God is up in the sky waiting for us to mess up, so He can zap us. But that thinking I found out was in great error.

It's funny that you use James 1:5-6.....for the beginning of that verse says that if anyone lacks wisdom, let him ask our generous God and He will give it to you, and not rebuke you for asking. Try reading 1Jn 4:7-5:20 and proverbs 4:20-27.
Start by renewing your mind to God's love.for you and His desire for you to be whole....and allow the Love of The Father wash over you (washing of the water of the Word), as you feed your spirit His Words of life and peace.

Father, we lift up jj483 to You. Thank You that he is Your sheep and he knows Your voice of peace and comfort. Surround him with Your love and grace and peace that passes all of his understanding. Show him how precious he is to you.
Fear in the Name of Jesus, we bind you from operating in jj's life, for he has been covered by the blood of Jesus and set free from the curse of the law. In Jesus Name, Amen.

I leave you with one Scripture that God gave me some time back....1 Peter 5:12b.....My purpose in writing to you is to encourage you and assure you that what you are experiencing is truly part of God's grace for you. Stand firm in this grace.
Fear is not part of the grace, for God did not and will not use fear for any reason. But I do believe He is leading you to paths of righteousness, showing you the things in your life that are hindering His closeness to you. He is trying to show you His love and greatness, and bring you to a deeper level of trust in Him...thus deepening your relationship with Him.

Grace is God's overwhelming desire to treat you as if sin never happened. So walk in this grace :)
God bless

Hi Klang
This Makes Sense Until You Bring in the fact that God has a church that He wants us in.

It may be farther away or it might have music different then what you would choose But the Bottom Line is that God wants you there and you stay planted there until He moves you and with out bickering and complaining.

This is where you will find Grace and Everything else in abundance.
Even church is not about us or our comfort.

Blessings my friend ,
I am going to share a recipe with you that has Always changed things around in my life. It is How God has shown us to live.

Galatians 5:16 and Romans 12:2 and 2 Corinthians 10:4-5

Romans 12:2 ....
And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God

(( Get His word in you each and every day and speak His word each and every day ))

2 Corinthians 10:4-5
4... For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to pulling down strong holds

5... Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

(( Begin to practice the words you speak and thoughts you think for our thoughts and words to control how we act or react and believe. Our own words do more do influence our thinking then most of everything else))

Galatians 5:16
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh

(( The more you do the first two the more you will begin to walk in the Spirit and you will be amazed to say the least. ))

All done through the Grace of God
who maketh all grace abound to me. ( 2 Corinthians 9:8 )

Hi @JJ483,

As I was reading today I felt led to post these Scriptures for you. God bless you abundantly and praying your day is great :)

THEREFORE, SINCE we are justified (acquitted, declared righteous, and given a right standing with God) through faith, let us [grasp the fact that we] have [the peace of reconciliation to hold and to enjoy] peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One). Through Him also we have [our] access (entrance, introduction) by faith into this grace (state of God's favor) in which we [firmly and safely] stand. And let us rejoice and exult in our hope of experiencing and enjoying the glory of God. Moreover [let us also be full of joy now!] let us exult and triumph in our troubles and rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that pressure and affliction and hardship produce patient and unswerving endurance. And endurance (fortitude) develops maturity of character (approved faith and tried integrity). And character [of this sort] produces [the habit of] joyful and confident hope of eternal salvation. Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God's love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us. While we were yet in weakness [powerless to help ourselves], at the fitting time Christ died for (in behalf of) the ungodly. Now it is an extraordinary thing for one to give his life even for an upright man, though perhaps for a noble and lovable and generous benefactor someone might even dare to die. But God shows and clearly proves His [own] love for us by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) died for us. Therefore, since we are now justified (acquitted, made righteous, and brought into right relationship with God) by Christ's blood, how much more [certain is it that] we shall be saved by Him from the indignation and wrath of God. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, it is much more [certain], now that we are reconciled, that we shall be saved (daily delivered from sin's dominion) through His [resurrection] life. Not only so, but we also rejoice and exultingly glory in God [in His love and perfection] through our Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom we have now received and enjoy [our] reconciliation. [Jer. 9:24.]

I don't feel the slightest calling to join a church, and if God wants me to be in a church, why hasn't he directed me to one? I've tried several local churches, but without going into details let me just say they weren't my cup of tea.
Anyway I'm a member of several internet religious sites including this one, each of which could be called a church because a church is people, not bricks and mortar..:)

After years of my chief pray being unanswered or perhaps wait or more than likely no; I did just this and this is why I find myself in such a situation. As most single guys I desire a woman in my life I can now recite Genesis 2:18; Proverbs 18:22; I Corinthians 7:2 and Hebrews 13:4 by heart but at my old age it is more than likely, God said no.
So when I was younger I left the church feeling that God had rejected me. At that time I had many a true friend; now I might have a couple of friends and that is using the term rather loosely.

So I really hope things will go better for you than me; for now when I go to the house of God, loneliness is my chief fear; and in my experience it is more damaging than doubt or unbelief. For no question we all need some alone time with God but take it from me to much loneliness will easily destroy one; Just read Ecclesiastes 4:9-13. While it feeds one doubt and unbelief it slowly destroy faith, this is a life lesson that a Gracious God gave me for getting a haughty spirit with Him. .And ever so why my chiefest fear is to even go to God's house.

Hi jj483,
I know your going through a lot, but I can guarantee you that God did not give you any of this to teach you a lesson or to punish you for a haughty spirit or attitude.

Our gracious and loving Father uses His Word and the Holy Spirit to correct us (2 Timothy 3:16).

However I do think that you opened the door to the devil, by your haughtyness and he has been tormenting you and feeding you some lies. God does not give us a spirit of fear, but one of peace, love and a sound mind (1 Timothy 1:7).

God has shown me that He loves us and His grace is always there for us when we sin or come to Him with wrong motives or attitude. It's just we having to learn how to run to Him when we mess up instead of running away.

And please don't give up on God bringing you a wife, He was the one that put that desire in you and your not that old.

Blessings

Greetings:
If you don't witness for (Him),there goes your-keep out demons-sign hanging on an angel's sword at the entrance of your heart.

bye
