Bodily Exercise

I agree that exercise is beneficial, and I applaud your efforts, and am glad that you are now reaping the rewards of such efforts. There has to be balance doesn't there?

In the epistles 'doctrine' is balanced with 'practice', and so it is in the natural. It is no good hearing the principles related to keeping healthy and of a sound mind, if we do not couple it with practice. Similarly with the inner man, we know that it needs to be fed on the written word of God, and worked out in daily living, for it to be seen by others and rejoiced in by those who bear the same indwelling Holy Spirit, by the grace of God, in and through Christ Jesus our risen and glorified Lord and Saviour.

Praise God!

Chris (Complete)

Amen. Thank you

Your right, The hugest benefit ultimately with eternal rewards is excercising our spirits. This is most noble and lasts forever. But a small gentle reminder to all of us that we would do more for the kingdom if our vehicles (our bodies) were well serviced or taken care of.

I don't believe it's ever too late. It feels daunting when you can't even climb a hill or feel scared to walk to the shop cause people recognize you have "grown" horizontally. Or you keep wearing a "uniform" cause your other clothes just don't fit. I was there, so I totally get it. This kind of bug gage is a weight that hinders or entangles - self esteem etc.

If you start now, you will feel better this time in 2 months. Just be consistent.

You can make it.

This word of yours is for me, personally, Mercedes Benz E Class.

I have arthritis in both hips, and need to loose weight, for it exacerbates the problem, and makes pain control more of a problem. Exercise is something which has never been part of my life, I walk for a purpose, and see no point in doing so without one. My occupations, both working and leisure, require that I sit down, However the Lord has been prompting me to become more active, and your post is just one more, this time through loud speakers. :)

Thank you.

I am right there with you sister. I have found that as we grow older we tend to lose the "get up and go" ability that we used to have.

I have had orthoscopic surgery on one knee and the other one replaced. Now I have to force my self to walk instead of doing it for leisure .

Here is a trick I learned. Get a dog. A Labrador retriever is perfect. They love to get out and walk and they give you a purpose to exercise.

This is soo beautiful - thank you :)

Start with what your body is comfortable with and stretch it by a bit each time. I was soooo beyond surprised that in my life, first time ever I could run 30 min non stop (what, wee ol' me?!). Walk 10 min vigorously, then go 15 the next week, 20 etc till you reach a point where you feel your body has had the oxygen it needs for the day.

Remember also to listen very carefully to your body. There's a difference between stretching your limits to disobeying glaring signs that your body simply can't go further. Listen carefully and if need be get a Dr at the beginning of your regime. :)

Very true brother. Dogs are very loving and loyal creatures. You definitely won't feel alone on your exercise sessions

Amen! Glad you agree.

I have had a dog in my life as far back as I can remember. They are wonderful companions.

They truelly are. We also had dogs. But somehow stayed chunks of times without them. I am seriously considering a puppy dog that we can bond with from scratch. One that will grow into a massive dog. Always liked the big sloppy dogs - Labradors etc.

Dogs are just loyal friends that possess a certain type of healing love that accepts you as you are :)

We have had 3 Labs and I promise you that you can not go wrong with a Lab. They will be faithful and if you have children they will bond with them in a special way.

My daughter has now had 3 and the one now, Charlie, comes over to our house and sits by my chair and continually nuzzles his head under my hand so that I have to rub his head.

Hi Both,

We don't have a dog, but we 'borrow' my daughters dog who is a border collie, with one brown eye, and one blue.

Ever since she was brought home as a puppy, a wriggling mass of fur, she has been a blessing and support to my daughters family, who have had problems to surmount individually, but her instinctive awareness has made her such a comfort, and a joy. Her enthusiasm and selfless desire to please has brought such pleasure.

I saw a programme the other day about animal behaviour, and learned what an important part 'play' has, not only in learning, but in daily living, way into adulthood. I sometimes think that we human beings have forgotten how to 'play', to really enjoy all that God has given for our enjoyment, and equipped us for.

It's about time we jumped for joy at the sight of a 'stick' :).

Now, I work like a rocket. Constantly at it. Sleep is balanced, skin has done amazing things.

So exercise really is beneficial whilst you are on earth.

Well done you! I totally agree. Physical exercise is never a bad thing, and too many of us do so little (because nowadays we don't have to). IMO a healthy body really does lead to a healthier mind. Our sleep patterns improve, our thoughts are clearer, we achieve a lot more. It's a win win situation.

Carry on the good work:)

There simply is no creature with such affection as this one. Thats so sweet.

Now that i think about it we might just go for a Lab. The one we had previously was pitch black and had the biggest paws. All he wanted to do all day was for you to throw stones and then he picks them up. We were always finding him with stones in his mouth. I loved that dog. You are right, i think a lab would best suit us because of the kids.

Amen and amen. That kind of selfless love and as you say selfess desire to please can not be found in any animal. I always loved how no matter how long you took to come home - he would just always be waiting out there for you - patiently. And once you arrived he would wiggle his tail until you thought it was going to break off!

PS. that brown eye and blue eyed dog must be too cute for words. They literally become your family member. Its such an example of humility and servanthood.

Do you know why dogs are so happy to see you when you go away and come back home??

They didn't think you were coming back!
