What's Heaven like?

So, what's Heaven like? Any thoughts on this?

I couldn't care less about the mansions, being with Jesus is all I need. :)

Think of the most wonderful place in the world. Think of a place you would call your "dream" place. Our minds are not that of God. So, the most wonderful place still do not even measure up to what God has in store for us. I Corinthians 2:9 - "What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived" -- the things God has prepared for those who love him--

We can't even imagine the wonderful things he has in store for us. We will see God,fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ, praise God, reign with Him. There will be no more tears, heartache, sickness, worries, hunger. All the pain we experience here on earth, the trials and tribulations will all be gone. No more!!! We will be full of the joy of the Lord. Oh what a day that will be!!!!

Well then you might want to do some seeking and find out what Heaven and being home with the Lord is all about.

You can certainly skate by and just get in so as to say hey I am with the Lord.
However scripture has plenty to say about this and once you begin to gain some understanding, well sir you will see eternity with the Father in a whole new perspective.

There is actually very little describing how we will ‘live’ after the resurrection and final judgment. Yes, there are some descriptions of the New Heaven and New Earth, as well as New Jerusalem, but as you said, you are not really asking for descriptions of mansions.

If I may guess, you are really asking how we will be spending our time thru eternity. While God is certainly worthy of an eternity of singing hymns in praise of him, from looking at His nature, I do not think that is what will happen.

So I would like to put forth some of my conjectures (guesses base on what is known) concerning everlasting life in heaven.

>> We will always be creatures in time. We will continue to experience reality as a sequence of events. God, who created time and thus exists apart as well as within time experiences it as a whole at all ‘times’. This may be why a new earth (a place for those who experience time) is created and taken up into heaven so we who are creatures of time may truly experience His continuing presence.

>> There is much in popular culture that says heaven is where ‘I can do what makes me happy’. I believe this is backwards. After the resurrection, the last selfish aspects of the old man within each of us will finally be completely overcome by His Love. Heaven is where we both truly want and are truly able to do precisely as God wills. I believe that God is an active God, and he will have a task or tasks for us to do. The life we are experiencing now is merely the training ground for God to build a body of believers ready to do as He commands. But, while the task now is to bring more into that body of believers, and to build up those who already believe; there will be another task for which that body was created.

What that task is, I have no idea. But it will be a joyful task and continuously bear His fruit.

As far as the descriptions in the Bible, as precious as they are, they are not to turn our sights away from the task at hand.

Very interesting thoughts on this, thank you for your replies.

I have no doubt that Heaven is full of life 'in abundance' - that is the only thing I know for sure.

I'm not so sure about the mansions. :D

I like the 1 Corinthians 2:6-16 verses as a framework for answering the question of what Heaven is like. It is only through the Spirit who is from God that we can even search out, contemplate and presume in our speculation of such things, but we still can't understand more than the Lord freely gives us in the Bible, and that only because we know Christ.

This is just my opinion, but I feel ppl tend to downplay heaven's awesomeness a lot.
Maybe it's just me, but when I think of heaven I think - the Paradise of all paradises.

You get a new body that never ages, or aches, or gains weight. You can run forever and not grow weary, you can walk for miles and not faint.

There'll be new colors you never knew existed, so imagine the vast fields of flowers in bloom. The rainbow will be more than just the 7stripes, and think of the all the colors we'll have to paint with!

And many of us never got to do a lot of stuff we wanted while on this Earth, but heaven will make up for that. We'll be able to complete our bucket list and so much more! (skydiving, bungee jumping, etc.)

My favorite part: the pets. I'll be sure to ask God for a pet lion and a pet wolf. And I'll get a pet pterodactyl while I'm at it. :p
(And I'll have a big house just for cats) :ROFLMAO:

Again, this is just my opinion and I have no scripture to prove all this. But I know the best of this world will pale in comparison to the simplest stuff in heaven. This is the kind of heaven I'm waiting for. :)
Whatever it is you dream of heaven to be, I bet you - it'll be all that and so much more!

John 14:2.......
"In My Father's house are many Mansions......."! (kjv).

Allow me to give you something to think about.

"Mansions" portrays extravagant detached dwellings whereas "rooms" portrays modest dwellings within a building. Whether to translate the Greek word "μοναι" as "mansions" or "rooms" depends on one's view of the "Father's house". If it is assumed that the Father's house is a single unit building, then "μοναι" would appear to be "rooms" inside that building. However, if it is assumed that the Father' house is an extravagant city, the "μοναι" would appear to be extravagant houses inside that city. The KJV rendering is consistent with what the Bible says about the Father's house.

Revelation 21:1-4 says:
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away." (Revelation 21:1-4, KJV)

I agree.

I have heard people say that there will be no fishing in heaven because it is not in the Bible. I love to fish and in my opinion that is something we will be able to do in heaven. Just like you, I have no Scripture to prove that but it is what I want to believe.

Here's what I truly find surreal about Heaven: so many humans in one place and no sin, jealousy or envy?!

It's hard to believe!
Today we know in part, which then demands faith, and in some it causes fear. In heaven, we'll know as we are known and lack nothing. Plus the sin we inherited from Adam will be missing. We are free of it now, but that's a choice decision. In heaven, it just won't be there.

This verse speaks to me about heaven and what it is like. But it is only one aspect of the wonderful things God has in store for us in Our Father's House.

"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” ESV 21:4

Heaven is a place of “no mores.”

In heaven there will be no more tears, no more pain, and no more sorrow. There will be no more divorce and no more murder. There will be no more separation, and no more cancer and no more death.
