Where do you believe is your inheritance in Christ?

Yes crossnote, good scripture to show our inheritance is in Christ. Now I did say that in the OP, and was really asking WHERE (in God`s great kingdom) will our inheritance be worked out. And I gave some suggestions.
Where? I'll still stand by my first response....In Christ.

Colossians 3:4 (KJV) When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

We all agree that we are `in Christ,` meaning our right standing before the Father. As to the `where,` let`s look a bit more at your great scripture in context.

`If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.` (Col. 3: 1 - 4)

And for confirmation -

`And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness; God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory.` (1 Tim. 3: 16)

Glory - heaven, angelic realm.

Hi MM,

That was a good evasive answer, there bro. I think I am getting used to your type of thinking. Anyway, yes wonderful things the Lord has in store for those who love Him.

However since the Lord has specifically promised us a place in God`s great kingdom, it does behove us to appreciate that and learn from others if we don`t know ourselves.

Hope you can stay tuned.

You're really getting used to my thinking? Hmm. I wish I could. It keeps changing in varying degrees because of Holy Spirit injections into my mind and heart the things of the Lord. He keeps showing me how little I know:

Psalm 10:5 His ways are always grievous; thy judgments [are] far above out of his sight: [as for] all his enemies, he puffeth at them.

And this:

Isaiah 55:7-9
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts [are] not your thoughts, neither [are] your ways my ways, saith the LORD. 9 For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

Blessedly, in all that context, nowhere did the Lord say through the prophet that we dare not ask for His thoughts and His ways, that He fill us with them.

So, if you think you're figuring me out, given the growth and feeding the Lord God of our salvation gives to me each day, then you must be ahead of the curve, because not even I can keep up with it. He is honoring my request for His Thoughts and His Ways. None of it goes against what's already written, but it sure gives power to the words therein like never before.

You see, the Lord gives to one what He does not give to another. John was commanded to not write down some of what he heard while in that place of revelation. He heard it, but the rest of humanity was not to know the words. I invite all others to ask of the Lord His Thoughts and His Ways, to fill you to the brim that you may have what what you need for each day, to absorb...letting it flow through you and effect changes to your thinking to bring it all closer and closer to His Thoughts and Ways. There's no better source.

So, when you speak of "...learn from others...," I do indeed, but only what the Lord confirms in His word, or in what He gives to us through His Holy Spirit.

The problem, Marilyn, is all that other stuff that man spews out from the rot of his own thoughts and beliefs. Socially engineered theologies are more than plentiful in so many people's thinking. Nothing new there.

For foundation, I point once again to this:

1 John 2:26-27

26 These [things] have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you. 27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

So, where are YOU abiding, Marilyn? I don't abide in human thought for where we will be in eternity. It doesn't even rise up as a curiosity to me, because whatsoever He has prepared for us, it's beyond human grasp and imagination, but you think you're beginning to figure me out? Really? Well, then, I hope you'll enlighten me about all that because I'm too occupied in delighting in the Spirit of the Lord's feeding and filling in accordance with His promises.

I don't dwell always in the Bible because it's purpose is to point us to the Lord. It's the beginning. Only in Christ Jesus do we find relationship. The Bible is the sign post in the roadway, always pointing to the Person, not to itself as the all in all. HE is the All in all.

Therein do we find the vast distinction between a written work and the Divine reality of the One to whom it points, contrasted to all the other religions, and their non-existent, or downright satanic, entities to which they point.

I am kind of thinking if there's no more sea, we'll be able to cross to other lands more easily perhaps. But then, what about the fish. Or maybe it will be rivers and lagoons.

I am sure last chapter of Revelation says kings will bring glory into it (the holy city) so maybe we might stay where we are but we'll have ambasadors travelling into it often.

Here's something interesting:

Zechariah 14:16-17

16 And it shall come to pass, [that] every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles (animal sacrifices). 17 And it shall be, [that] whoso will not come up of [all] the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain.

The populations left upon this earth must be very small compared to today, because representatives of each family to travel to Jerusalem each year for observance of the Feast of Tabernacles, that's quite a few ships and jets (if there will still be jets flying in those days). They will have famile upon their land who do not travel to participate in the observe of the sacrifices.

Interesting indeed...

Hi Lanolin,

People on the earth will be able to travel easier. However is that the Body of Christ? We need scriptures to show us where we will be.

I actually don't know.
isn't the New Jerusalem on the new earth?
The New Jerusalem will be above the earth, `for the nations shall walk in its light.` (Rev. 21: 24) Thus as the earth rotates then each part of the earth can have the light from the New Jerusalem.

That was honest of you to say `you didn`t know.` Hopefully as this topic is discussed we can all get a clearer picture of where we will go.

Thanks for that MM. Now you are speaking about the millennium and this topic is about our eternal place where we go to.

Sorry I didn't make the connection. I should have done that. Sometimes I at times assume too much when typing through so fast. The main theme that spans between the Millennium and the coming new heavens and new earth is the Kingship of Christ Jesus in both. That's what's important to my thinking, and I found it interesting that He will punctuate that in the Millennium with punishments, and it will be given out of a great love from His redeemed peoples in the coming eternals.

Yes our spirit yearns for that `heaven,` and we only know in part here.

Heaven has 3 parts -

1. The Atmospheric heavens around the earth.
2. The Universal heavens, where are the stars, suns, planets etc.
3. The highest heaven where God is and the angels.

The New Jerusalem comes down out of the highest heaven, from God, and settles in the universal realm. It is the rulership over the earth. (Rev. 21; 2)
The Body of Christ, however is destined for the highest realm with Christ on His throne. (Rev. 3: 21)

Hope that is clearer. Marilyn.

Hold on so, the holy city, the New Jerusalem, descends out of heaven but sort of sits above Earth thats made new?
So maybe we fly UP to the New Jersualem? Or it just comes down to where we are? I'm a bit confused.

Also I am sure there is a glass sea somewhere and people in Heaven can look down and see people on Earth below. How long are we allowed to visit the city for, do we stay as long as we like.

Don't we all inherit the Kingdom.
Which means we all get to sit on the throne (do we take turns or what?)
Interesting question there, Lanolin.

God has a great kingdom. He made it and He didn`t give it away and nobody took it away from Him. However He is in the process of putting down rebellion. And in each realm there will be rulership under the Lord.

1. The Body of Christ will sit with Him on His throne in glory, the highest heaven. (Rev. 3: 21) What that means is that we will serve the Lord as He directs, (kings) and worship Him, (Priests). To `sit on His throne` is just a picture of rulership - serving, responsibilities, obedience under the Lord.

2. The new Jerusalem comes down from the highest and those there will rule over the earth.

3. Then on the earth we know that Israel has been promised to rule over the nations there.

Where do you believe is your inheritance in Christ?

1. On the New Earth?

2. In the New Jerusalem?

3. In the Angelic Realm?

4. Other?

Please give scriptures for your belief.
And I hope this is a profitable discussion together.

Marilyn.
Hebrews 9:15 ..........
" Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.'

Our inheritance is, in a word, is heaven. It is the sum total of all God has promised us in salvation.

Specifically.....
Revelation 21:27
"But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lambā€™s book of life."

Revelation 21:1-3..........
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God."

When we understand and value the glory that awaits us, we are better able to endure whatever comes our way in this life. We can give God praise even during trials because we have His guarantee that we will receive all He has promised: in 2 Corth. 4:17........
"For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all".

Will there be like a stairway to heaven or a ladder?
So we can go up? hmm
Or maybe chariots will escort us.

Revelations says John got 'carried away in spirit to a great and high mountain' by the angels.

I don't know....if you are picturing the same thing..but what does a city descending out of heaven look like? When I think of a city (cos I live in one) I think of lots of tall buildings, or maybe a town hall, a square, civic buildings. cathedral/church, library, shops, offices surrounding it then dwelling places and as you go further out suburbs..

Obviously there probably won't be retail shops in heaven as everything is free.

However this holy city described in Revelation doesn't have any of these things. It has a tree, and a fountain from which a river flows. It has walls and gates. (Auckland doesn't have walls and gates...it has dormant volcanoes and a two harbours...and a sprawling motorway! Also the tallest thing you can see is the Sky Tower which is near the casino..and there are wharves and an airport, but alas, no walls and gates)

The best way I can think of it is like a castle with walls around it as that what scripture seems closest to describing. A square shaped castle.

But sparkly, kind of like a Walt Disney 'magic kingdom' Cinderella castle. Not that I have ever been to Disneyland.
One you can see through, because its 'like unto clear glass'
