Avatar: The Way Of Water

Been busy....

So, the visuals alone show to us a fetish with non-human characters. Why are they fixated on non-human characters, even when depicting what appears to be strong family values in the midst of pantheistic faith? All of those things can be shown in human form. Why deviate, and why glamorize pantheism, be it ever so small a part in the overall movie imagery and dialogue?

I just don't see any redeeming value in the unrealistic vantagepoints that do not focus upon the totality of biblical values, truths and virtues. Paul was all things to all people, but never to the point of compromise. Would he have allowed himself to transform his reflection of God's image to become something other than human in order to reach others? No. He did not get tattoos, nose rings or any other rudiments of paganism in order to reach pagans. He wouldn't even drink to excess in order to sit on a bar stool to reach the drunken lost.

Also, it's PG-13, not G. Granted, the rating system is indeed messed up these days, having drifted into R now as the rating for what would have passed for X in years past.

Boredom with the Bible is what seems to push many into the spongy arena of compromises through amusements. That word...A-MUSEMENT is very telling in itself. A- meaning NOT, and MUSEMENT- thinking. Get it? NOT-THINKING.

Dare we ignore the spiritual infections from things that seem harmless, without going to the extreme of looking for demons bahind every door and around every corner...we still must remain vigilant at all time:

1 Peter 5:8-11
8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle [you].
11 To him [be] glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Most here, if not all, would say outright that they were not devoured by any measure in Avatar. What of those who were, or are? Deity alone knows what has happened in individual lives. Fantasy has its lures upon many hearts without some banner appearing upon the foreheads of those who are deeply affected in order to make it so obvious what has happened within them. I am not Deity, as is true of others here, so I cannot say one way or the other as to the unseen effects. The more liberal will generally deny any and all negative effects, which is par for the course in their belief system(s).

I will stay the course, and refrain from watching it. It cannot possibly hope to bolster my adherence and heart-set desire to uphold scripture as being all that I need for what I take into myself for encouragement through spiritual diet of intellectual grounding.

Does that answer your question?

MM
Yes.
Wow.
Your Truely very thoughtful about what you put in your heart.
Makes me wonder about how films like these may influence us subtlety.

Very well said when considering subtle influences.

Paul was so very wise:

1 Thessalonians 5:19-22
19 Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.

Amen.

Yes, it means you are not a fan of the Na'vi and are never going to visit Pandora. No unobtanium for you.

Please .... Avitar 1 told the story of what has happened to the indigenous people of the Amazon rainforest. It illustrated corporate greed (unobtanium) and the resolve of "people" that found a balance between themselves, other living being, nature, respect, and faith.

Now, I am not going to argue that subtle influences happen with people and theater, but not from the "blue monkeys."

It’s ok I am still going to watch them anyway. I’m a sci fi fan.

Hey Ray;

The storyline for Avatar is as you described. We love the movie, own the Blu-Ray and have watched it several times.

But you have to be careful. Apes get real offended when they are called monkey, especially blue monkey.
lol!

We only pay $11.00 matinee senior price, and plan to see Avatar The Way of Water.

Question. The movie screens have 3D, IMAX 3D, or DBOX XD. What is the difference?

Do not know about the DBOX XD, but IMAX3D is much larger screen that the regular screen.

Interesting. D-BOX is a motion system integrated in special seats synchronized with the image and sound of the film by means of a special frequency band. This is something I have never tried. Not even sure it is offered in our area. Let me look..... Nope, not here.

I don't trust Disney or whomever is the maker of Avatar.

It is a 20th Century Fox movie and yes, Disney probably has some part in it since they have a Pandora area in Animal Kingdom. I have absolutely no issue trusting Disney. I saw the movie and gave my review of it in this thread. I trust Disney so much that my fiance and I have annual passes and were just there on Saturday. It is our happy place and our go-to for our dates. When things seem off between us, we go to Disney and things are back on track again. That probably has more to do with going out on a date, but still, it tracks.

I'm sorry that you do not trust Disney.

D-Box is okay. My fiance and I had D-box seats for the latest Ghostbusters movie.

Hi Everyone.

I have not watched the Avatar movie, but I have heard some information about it.

Apparently it is an amazing movie, but it is too amazing for some people.

Some people have reported to have suffered from Post-Avatar depression syndrome after watching the movie. Some people felt that the real world was depressing after watching the movie and wished that they lived in the Avatar world.

If you are already depressed with your life and are prone to depression, then it is probably not a good idea to watch any of the Avatar movies.

For those who found the real world to be grim after watching the movie, here is an article providing suggestions about how to combat the depression.

I thought they were people, not monkeys!

The smurfs were also people, but much smaller.

They were both blue though.

Bluey is also blue.

If you don't like the colour blue, or blue characters, then watch Clifford the Big Red dog instead.

Personally, I’d say yes.

I would definitely recommend seeing Avatar 1 first. But I'd also say it’s not absolutely necessary, however you will get much more out of the sequel if you see Avatar 1 first.

The second Avatar develops many plot points that begin in the first movie so it will definitely make more sense and be more fun if you understand the relationships and circumstances that unwind in the latest movie.
Yup, because part one explains how the humans are able to even be in the avatar bodies and explains why they came to Pandora in the first place. Like how Jake was a cripple in his human body and only got to go to Pandora because his twin was killed, and how he loved how he could run and jump in his avatar body. And how he fell in love with his Na'vi wife. And what horrible things the humans did to the Na'vi people. So yeah, I think seeing part one will give a better understanding. :)

I can't think of any good monkey movies, I know there WAS a monkey in the Lion King. But he wasn't the main character.
There was a movie called 'Monkey Business' but I think that starred Marilyn Monroe.

Gorillas in the Mist and King Kong are about apes, not monkeys. Monkeys have tails. The Avatar people do not have tails, so, am not sure why anybody would confuse them with monkeys. I guess those people don't understand sci-fi.

My favourite blue characters was Violet Bureauguard in Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Still the one of the best children's movies ever made IMHO.
