Yes, they are humanoid. I used the term "blue monkeys" because that is what the guy who ran the drilling company (in the movie) called them.

It would have been like a muppet show featuring the Cookie monster and Grover.
Actually, I take that back. They do have tails, but they merge with other beings through the end of their hair. They called it their “queue” (had to look that up).

Yes they have tails on their butt and a special kind of tail like thing in their hair that they use to connect to their animals and nature.

From what I remember (ages ago since I read it) it was a dystopia or utopia? set in the post-apocalyptic future but everyone had become gardeners and they went round eating chicken nuggets that were genetically engineered and grown like plants in a nursery.
Oryx and Crake were named after birds.
There were two other books in the trilogy but it confused me and I didn't really understand the futuristic mating rituals. The second book was called the Year of the Flood and the third called Madaddam. Obviously a play on the Garden of Eden trope.
I think if I read it again I might understand it more but for me Margaret Atwood is agnostic so she's kind of not getting the whole spiritual component of the Garden of Eden story in the first place.

The wife and I actually discussed that. I remember that the 10 Commandments had a break in the middle, but they do not do that anymore. Three hours and 15 minutes is a long time.
It was a very long movie, and I did mind the viewing time (it wasnt like Gone With The Wind, which still has an element of suspense).
I believe the producers waited too long between films. While their were many aspects I enjoyed, I would not choose to see it again.
There was too much "war" in it that diluted the beauty created that I did like.
