Do you watch / listen / read ONLY Christian centered movies, music, literature?

We all have different interests and tastes when it comes to cinema, music, books or hobbies. Some prefer to watch crimes or sci-fi movies.🎬 Some of you may listen to the gospel, worship music or rock, electronic artists. 🎸 Maybe you like reading biographies or fairy tales? 📚

My interests vary from time to time. There have been periods where my interests were predominantly Christian-based, but there have also been times when all I did was binge-watch videos on and read about technical or scientific data. I think it's natural for our interests to ebb and flow from topic to topic as the days pass.

Hi TearsOfWorship
Good questions.

Cinema- when I was in my teens (many years ago) I was a bit of a romantic. The Sound of Music etc., but they had to have a good story.
I have always like films about the gospel as long as they are true about the bible.

T.v. - can't see well enough now to watch it. I used to love documentaries about nature, animals or other countries and how the people lived there.

Reading - the bible of course. I love to study not just the bible but whatever catches my attention. Also like the classics that based everything on life as it truly was.
We had to study Shakespear and The IIiad for Major exams at high school and I lived them too.

Music - love listening to hymns. Also classical. Rock music especially guitar. organ , pipe, clarinet or piano music.

God Bless

I'm a librarian so read widely, but tend to go with whatever interests me at the time, and more non-fiction over fiction.

At the moment am watching Matilda, the musical. I am still a Roald Dahl fan.

I will read most books in the church library, I like testimonies/biographies best. I listen to a variety of music, but popular christian music like CCM is not really my thing. I prefer more gospel type songs OR the songs you can easily sing in Sunday school.

Christian movies aren't released very often, but I try to make an effort to go see them if they are. I don't watch much tv or listen to the radio I prefer reading books. A lot of christian literature tends to be American based, and the things American christians talk about can't really be applied in other countries, because other countries just don't have their constitution or ideology regarding politics and left and right etc. So I don't pay much attention to that (like extreme right wing fundamentalist views) because that just doesn't happen in my country. Faith is not bound up in politics here.

I just finished binge watching all nine seasons of Seinfeld (overrated), saw a documentary on the Son of Sam, another documentary on John Wayne Gacy, did some research on serial killers, read the book of Judges, and saw a video on a guy making a very large wood table. I guess I am all over the place.

For the record, the worst serial killed in history is a Columbian by the name of Luis Garavito. He received 1,853 years for the killing of 193 people. He assisted authorities in finding many of his victims and his sentence was reduced to 22 years. He becomes eligible for parole this year. For America, it's Samuel Little. He killed somewhere between 60 and 93 and died in prison at the age of 80.

We read, watch and listen to a variety of Christian and non-Christian media.

I will say that, over the years, as my walk with Christ has progressed, I find that the pathway on what I find acceptable is becoming ever narrower.

There is a whole bunch of garbage I’ve downloaded into my consciousness I would avoid now, or even delete if it were possible.

That being the case, we are much more thoughtful in our choices now and that tends towards a strong bias for Christian based media.

blueskies Your statement resonated deeply. We download an excessive amount of garbage we dont even realize.
From sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and even triggered emotions. My camping trips are my wordly "diet" or so to speak.
Being on this anti-inflammatory eating regime, Im finely tuned into everything my flesh consumes.
My musical choices are serene, relaxing, and therefore more enjoyable. Binaural beats with isochronic tones assist even further.
Program watching includes older movies, non-violent Disney classics, and more wholesome series viewing like "Call the Midwife".
Weaning myself off ready to eat, processed foods, red meats, most gluten, sugar, salt, and "junk" has also changed my perspective.
The products I use in the house are fragrance free, or all natural like cleaning with soap, baking soda and vinegar.
I wont even spray a disinfectant, so I dont breathe the chemicals. Im concerned with my footprint too. Do we recycle/reuse?
Do we plant trees, pick up garbage, compost, donate household goods not in use, buy used, and walk/ride a bike to save gas?
Are showering/flushing/clothes washing habits designed with water conservation being a concern?
Is you home as cluttered as your mind, filled with things that dont need to be there?
Have you used everything you own within the last five years? How about the last six months?
What can you live without? This thread begs the question...

How clean are we living our lives for the Lord?

Yes I too enjoy a variety of different genres but when it comes to serial killers… forget it.
Many many years ago, I worked a case where the profile was similar to two serial killers from TN. Ended up attending a three-day task force meeting to compare notes with other agencies. Even since then, I have found the subject interesting. Turned out, my case was not associated with them.

I don't find serial killers or crime books interesting. I find them boring and drawn out and the killers portrayed as so clever that nobody can figure out who killed anybody until the end.

When in most cases in life, you know exactly who killed someone. You just wanna know WHY.

My all time favourite movie was wizard of oz.

As a kid I watched this and wanted to storm chase in Kansas City.
I wanted to witness the ultimate fear of what it was like to hide in a storm shelter while the winds howl above.

any action movie inspires adrenaline and I admit I always loose myself in those kinds of movies.

but other than that....generally im a unicorn kind of chick.

My favorite movie is The Burbs with Tom Hanks. I have probable seen it at least 20 times.

Yes, but I was watching documentaries. These are real world serial killers. I would have enjoyed being a profiler.

I had to look up the term, profiler.

it reminded me of Hannibal Lecter and how his character in the film could easily determine the mind and ways of the criminal.

is it so easy to do ? I hate seeing crime scenes but
I could pretty much tell which of my children had been in the fridge last by the tell tale signs of what was left around lol

I gulp at the thought of looking at dead bodies that have been murdered.☹️

It's not easy and it's mostly a well calculated guess. Just finished watching Bruce Almighty and now I'm watching Heartbreak Ridge.
