4 Biblical Truths

4 Biblical truths to bank on.

1. only those who receive Jesus Christ as Lord and saviour will experience eternal life in heaven

2. Jesus will return as He has repeatedly promised.

3. Jesus will judge all those who have rejected him.

4. when Jesus appears, He will take all genuine believers to be with Him forever.

Hello forgiven;

Those 4 points should be encouraging for seasoned and new disciples who get discouraged because the Bible is "hard to grasp." Jesus is very simple and straightforward. All those who receive Jesus will make it plain for all who believe.

When I first started studying the Bible I attended our Bible study and got frustrated looking up a passage in 1 Corinthians when the lesson was in 1 Chronicles. Out of frustration I tossed my Bible on the coffee table. Another brother overlooked (my pride) and gently picked up my Bible and explained to me the difference between both books. I'll never forget that day.

Romans 1:19, 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. - ESV

The rest are as Jesus will do, He will return, He will judge, and will take all genuine believers to be with Him forever.

God bless
you, Jerry.

i have just finished reading a book called is the end near by michael youssef .. i found it very interesting ,, i will say on end time events i like david Jeremiah... this author had a different style .. later on i will share another quote from him...

3 apprentice demons being trained in wickedness and deception by the devil.

he asked the three apprentices ' how will you deceive human beings and seduce them into hell ? "

the 1st . demon said , " i will whisper to them there is no God.' i will conquer them by turning them into atheist. "

the devil said. Fool ! that approach almost never works ! Even the atheist i. in the the secret chambers of his own soul, knows there is a GOD."

the 2nd. demon said " i will whisper to them , THERE IS NO HELL. " I will conquer them by convincing them they need not fear the finial judgment"

the devil said FOOL ! THAT approach won't work. they may try to deceive themselves , but their consciences testifies that there is a right and there is a wrong, there is heaven and there is Hell. "

the 3rd. demon said . I will whisper to them. there is plenty of time to repent and believe . WHY HURRY ? "

THE OLD DEVIL SAID CORRECT that is how you will conquer them .

ya know this little parable story Holds lots of truth

Sadly each of these lies have been believed by some people. I think it was Frank Turik that told of a man that didn't want to believe in God because then he couldn't sleep with whoever he wanted to. The desire for immorality is growing stronger every day.

That sounds a lot like Joseph Smith.

While in college, heard an AOG youth pastor tell us that he knew of a couple who claimed to be christians, yet fornicated a lot, and felt bad afterwards, and got on their kness and prayed in tongues to make it alright. The AOG pastor to his credit told them can pray about blue in the face , but sin is still sin

the evidence is the change .Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:

I wonder if it was the praying or the speaking in tongues that they believed made it OK?

I attended an AOG church for about a year to study the tongues phenomenon. I have had some training in linguistics, so I put that to use in analyzing the tongues I heard spoken. I listened intendly for the signs of repetition that would indicate the various parts of speech as well as a coherent syntax. I concluded that they were not actually speaking languages. Each person had a unique set of expressions, but none of them were coherent language. They were expressions akin to the baby talk expressed by infants, which, though not language, is nevertheless an expression of emotions in an attempt to communicate. That's what these Pentecostal tongues actually represent. They are deep emotional expressions of feelings which cannot be articulated using ordinary language. Apparently these expressions are an act of personal worship, but they aren't languages. Perhaps in that respect, they have a certain validity for each person using them. However, they are an entirely human phenomenon having nothing to do with the Holy Spirit.

Well, it is unfortunate that we can not discuss this topic, but I can tell you what I know and then the mods can end the thread.

Everyone should be aware that when we read Acts 2:1-12 we will find that the tongues spoken by the apostles were languages spoken by apostles who did not know these languages, but which were understood by the Jews in Jerusalem. They spoke in the languages of Parthians, Medes, Elamites, Egyptians, Libyans and more.

We should also know that it was Jews speaking to Jews about one thing.....The gospel.

What was spoken were actual human languages, known to the hearers, but not known to the ones speaking. This explains why those present understood these tongues to in fact be miraculous.

That is not what takes place in churches today.

The fact, though, is that, as far as I know, no one who claims to speak in tongues today also claims to speak in an actual language. They are speaking gibberish and NO ONE translates what is uttered.

They may be experiencing a cathartic emotional release upon speaking in “tongues,” and that may give people a feeling of religious fervor, but they are not doing what was done by the apostles and those they placed their hands on in the first century.

When I was active in the SBC of Florida in the capacity of Cults we actually made recordings and analyzed them and the fact is that
here is nothing be said. They are just "utterances".

Now, I do know of ONE example of speaking in tongues. In 1965, while in a bus terminal, a man was standing and speaking something but no one knew what he was saying. Finally another man walked up and said, "I know what he is saying".

I asked how and what was going on and the man said HE IS SPEAKING in Portuguese and saying that only Jesus saves.

Now as to a "private prayer language".........#1, that phrase or words are not found in the Bible.

why is it wrong.............
#1. praying in tongues is a personal prayer language would be to edift himself and that is unbiblical,(1 Corinthians 14:4).
#2. How could praying in tongues be a private prayer language if it is to be interpreted (1 Corinthians 14:13-17)?
#3.
How could praying in tongues be for self-edification when Scripture says that the spiritual gifts are for the edification of the church? #4. How can praying in tongues be a private prayer language if the gift of tongues is a “sign to unbelievers” (1 Corth. 14:22)
#5. The Bible makes it abundantly clear that not everyone possesses the gift of tongues (1 Corinthians 12:11, 28-39).
#6. Then of course, How could tongues be a gift for self-edification if not every believer can possess it?
