I have heard more than once that the man Muhammad dwelled in a cave on Mount Hira. This is where the archangel Gabriel supposedly appeared to him which I seriously don't believe.
Contrary to Gabriel appearing to Mary has more substance and fulfills the Old Testament prophecy and the end result being the visible testimony of Jesus Christ to the people. The Gospel brought more glory to God and His persecution on the Cross.
Centuries later Muhammad revealed the Quran by God's instruction but it brought a bleak attitude of grim thought and spiritual darkness that takes away God's glory.

It is well documented that Muhammad suffered from epilepsy.
The Byzantine ecclesiastical historian Theophanes (752-817). He attributed the creation of Islam to a ploy by Muhammad’s first wife to hide the shame of being married to someone with the falling sickness, as epilepsy used to be called, by claiming he was a prophet and was divinely inspired.

Off the topic.........but an interesting Bible fact---the Bible never once calls Gabriel an archangel. The only named angel specifically called an archangel in the Bible is Michael.
