Article about progressives changing Bible stories to fit their values

Major ( for the sake of clarification ).... I am interested in hearing you address this question.

What about the Christian who truly does LOVE JESUS but cannot seem to shake his/her addiction issues on this side of heaven? This person is tormented with guilt and shame... has REPENTED more times than most people realize.... and is simply UNABLE to gather the strength and faith to conquer their addiction.

I see this person in a different way than I do the CHRISTIAN who is living in a sin that is CONDONED and ACCEPTED by their church.

So many people are out of fellowship with GOD.... because they have embraced SINFUL lifestyles and beliefs.
My own family included.
Excellent question.

IMHO, On this side of heaven, every Christian will struggel with sin. The apostle John writes to believers of every generation in 1 John 1:10......“If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth”.

If Christians were destined never to wrestle with sin, then Jesus would not have taught His followers to pray in Matt. 6:12......
“Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us".

The good news is that, even though we still sin, we can confess our sins to the Lord, receive His forgiveness and cleansing, and remain in fellowship with God.

Now there are two ways to look at this.

#1 is that when you receive Jesus as the Christ and He lives in you, "Greater is He that lives in you than is he who lives in the world".
The teaching is that IF you have received Jesus, the Holy Spirit will empower you to conquer that sin that besets you and allow you to repent which mean to "change directions".

Please understand that the Bible teachs us that as soon as we place our faith in Jesus Christ and receive His salvation, the Bible teaches us that we become new creations in Jesus Christ. Our old life of sin is dead and gone, and a new life begins according to 2 Cort. 5:17 and Romans 6:4. At the same time, we are just starting a spiritual growth process called sanctification.

#2 is that Habitual sin, or Known sin to you won’t cause you to lose your salvation or keep you out of heaven, but it can hinder our fellowship with God if we don’t humbly confess and continually seek restoration and it will cause you to lose the "rewards/Crown" you may have earned when you stand before the Lord Jesus to give an account of all the things you did in your life.

Now then, the problem with #2 is that it is two fold and require an opinion from the sinner.
A. What is sin as God looks at it?
B. What is sin to ME? (What do I think sin is).

IMPO we must be very, very careful with this one. If we say that I am saved and believe that Jesus is my Savior, but I have a desire to kill people and as long as I confess it I am still a Christian.

Now extrapolate "Murder" to any other known sin that God condemns and ask yourself..........can I be a habitual liar, or prostitute, commit adultery, or thief, or homosexual and still consider myself as born again, a new creature in Christ?

English already provides a pronoun for a noun that's neither masculine nor feminine. That pronoun is  it. Before someone waves the disrespectful flag, remember we often use it when referring to infants.
But it is a singular pronoun... It ( ha ) does not work with they/them with reference to someone relating to being both male and female = they/them. That was Big Moose 's reference with why I referred to my landlords as plural. It was a border line off colour/inappropriate reference... with a comical intention. ( If I might try to pick the brain of a moose... HAHA ). Mr. Moose is on a rebellious streak as of late and he loves to PUSH the envelope. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

You should see a moose on the loose in Alaska! They push everything.

The envelope fell off the table a long time ago.

I interpret these things as the coming of the latter days, where good is taught as evil, and evil promoted as good. They say themselves that they pick and choose their acceptable truths from the Bible as if the Bible should be treated as cafeteria style faith. I remember the days of the Phil Donohue show delving into the right of "certain people" to be tolerated so they could live their own life. I was ok with that, all the while knowing it wasn't going to stop with that admonition of tolerance. So here we are. The lost are very welcome to the church when looking for answers or guidance. But inviting evil into the church when it is looking to start chaos would be unacceptable.

In both these good posts I think of the wheat and tares in Matthew 13:24-30, the ulterior motives of the evil one that our
brothers describe exist in many of our Churches, communities, wherever Satan roams. An enemy sows the tares among the wheat, and Jesus instructs them to grow together until the harvest, when the wheat will be separated and the tares burned.

God bless
everyone.

Amen.

Matthew 7:22-24.......
"On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”

Think about what it means to truly follow Jesus. It requires more than just verbal profession – it involves a deep personal relationship with Him, a transformation of the heart, and a life that reflects a change of direction towards His love and teachings. Are we truly living out our faith in a way that honors Jesus and His message? This verse calls us to evaluate our own lives and ensure that our faith is more than just lip service.

Many of us are happy to include "everyone" into the church of God but we seem to forget Jesus’ sermon was not concerned with house construction or building code violations on rocks or sand. The spiritual meaning of the parable is found in Matthew 7:24: .....
“Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”

We are each building a life. The proper foundation for a life is Jesus’ words—not just the hearing of them, but the doing of them, too is what James said in 1:22.

My two cents worth.... I found this article to be most disturbing... yet not remotely surprising because here in Canada this PROGRESSIVE CHRISTIANITY "idea" has EXPLODED in the last few years. This liberal agenda is EVERYWHERE and has sadly infiltrated the public school system in a very disturbing way. WE have QUEER story time ( where someone in DRAG reads a story to a group of children ). We have Furries in the classroom which consists of students dressing up as some kind of fur animal and spending the day pretending to be that animal.

It's one thing to BE loving towards the sinner. We are called to shine a light/ be a light to a darkened world.... which includes loving people in all situations.... BUT.... it does not mean CONDONING SINFUL LIFESTYLES/CHOICES..... EVER.

One of my landlords is transgender. I have loved this person... and kept my thoughts to myself because they are not open to hearing from me. It's true... that ALL sinners NEED JESUS.... and CranberryArtworks and bobinfaith have beautifully described the tenderness and love of CHRIST.

But it is another to POLLUTE the world with all this FILTHY AGENDA-DRIVEN "CHOICE" of being whatever you want to be. The school system has become a petri dish of children who will never learn to be RESPONSIBLE human beings due to the plethora of choices to be anything but HUMAN.

I am not surprised that our WORDLY thoughts and beliefs have slipped into the depths of the church.

I do not believe there is such a thing as progressive CHRISTIANITY. I believe that is simply an EXCUSE for doing whatever one DESIRES.
WE are either OBEDIENT unto the WORD of GOD or we are NOT. It's BLACK and WHITE. There is no get out of jail free card here.

All people are challenged to obedience of the HOLY WORD of GOD.
In Awe of Him,

Thank you for your incredible input on this "delicate" subject ... for putting the focus on the Truth.
We should always turn to God's Word always, stay focused on Him, and not be a part of the changing, fallen World.
We need to learn and to teach, God's Word, and spread His Love.
