I tried but can't figure out the reference. Did John Travolta do something newsworthy recently?
ACT-SHOO-ALL-LEE, Jason, that's a verbatim quote from California's governor who is a real Beau Brummel, but I see where you got the John Travolta reference.
I stopped by a thrift store and bought a porcelain serving plate for $6.00. This is going to be my new watercolor mixing plate. I can squeeze color onto the raised lip and mix on the flat part. Cheap. Easy.

Thank you, Davey. I painted this 5x7 so space was a real premium. I also used Arches 100% cotton paper (first time using cotton) and let me tell you, I'm hooked. It's much easier to work with than wood pulp.
Unfortunately my eyes got the better of me on this one. Even with reading glasses I was squinting to see the detail while painting. I actually made the eyes too small and not round enough, but despite that I'm very pleased with the result. This will go in a small frame on my desk. All I have to do is go to T.J. Maxx for the frame! LOL.
I very much enjoy painting again after all these years. This thread was a major motivator in my decision to give it a go once more. Thank you!
