no Olivia .. the penalty for sin is death ..
so without Jesus' sacrifice we ALL would go to hell ..
Thand the prodigal son parable bears it out as well ..
the son was repentant in his heart first ..
and the Father .. forgave him before he spoke the words ..
do ya think the Father knew his kids heart ???
The prodigal son was with the father even when he sinned which was why he even thought of leaving in the first place. Nevertheless even though he was a sinner he belonged to the Father. (even though believers still sin they belong to the Father because of righteous Jesus allows them to belong).and the prodigal son parable bears it out as well ..

"not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit" (Titus 3:5).ALL have sinned and fallen short ..
thus ALL need a savior ..
here are a couple quick verses .. please explain them to me ..
OR SHOULD I JUST IGNORE THEM ???
Mat 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter
Hbr 5:9 And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation,
There is no contradiction. The only works that a believer does that are righteous are ones done through God's righteous alone. Not their own righteousness. God kept all the commands and since a believer is dead to their own selves and alive in Christ they are seen in Christ and his perfect works of keeping all the commands. They are not seen in their own flesh, but they are seen by God the Father as being in Christ the Holy one.so either only one is needed .. and Jesus and Paul are contradicting themselves ..
or they both are true and both are needed ..
You keep evading my question.I can have all faith .. but if I do not love .. I am nothing ..
faith without works is dead ..
SAME THING ..
belief without LIVING IT is DEAD ..
Again, living it is living it in Christ, not in our own selves. Yes there is evidence of it by what a believer does, but what a believer does is from Christ's righteousness because the Holy Spirit in them works that righteousness through them. They don't do the works from their own righteousness.if you do not LIVE IT .. then your belief is A LIE ..
your lips may confess Him .. but your heart is far from Him ..
it is based on both .. you cannot separate them if you LOVE HIM ..
if you do separate them .. then it is LIP SERVICE ONLY ..
did I not prophesy and cast out demons in your name ???
YES .. but you did NOT OBEY and treat others as yourself ..
if you did not do it for them .. you did not do it for me ..
away with you .. and that is what JESUS SAID ..
and again .. every tree that does NOT bear GOOD FRUIT ..
is cut down and thrown into the fire ..
sounds to me like BEARING FRUIT IS ESSENTIAL BY WHAT JESUS SAYS ..

You still haven't answered my question how can it be that it is not by works of righteousness and be by works of righteousness. What I am explaining accounts for this. What you are explaining doesn't.in both these examples above .. the person is shown to have belief only ..
and that wasn't enough ..
