@KingJ if i may...i would like to respond to some of your questions.
Sin being defeated on the cross was instant. Our sins washed away is instant. Us assuming He died for bodily healing as He did for our sins....suggests the dead obvious does it not?
Even though sin was conquered and our sins were washed away on the cross does not mean that our natural sin nature does not try to be in control, (Gal. 5:1617) Our spirits and our natural nature are constantly at war. The reason why Paul encourages us (in Romans 12:2) to renew our minds is because there is still a war taking place within us. We need to renew our minds to God's ways (feeding our spirits), so that the mind can know what those ways are and what is said, and thus can make the decision to tell our body to submit to the spirit. But those things have to be developed. It is not automatic. Just because we accept Christ as Lord and savior and we are given a new spirit, does not mean that our sin nature is conquered. JESUS conquered sin on the cross, it is defeated.....but each individual person must accept that salvation and then walk it out every day. We have to train our flesh just like we have to train our child to walk.
If its God's absolute will / something He died for....then why is any Christian sick in the first place? The enemy (devil) is constantly seeking someone he can devour. Christians are not immune from that. Because we are all human and make mistakes...we get into strife, or unforgiveness, or whatever kind of sin. And according to James 3:16 where there is envy and strife...there is evil work. So that means that as we sin (it can be as small as allowing oneself to be frustrated and speak unkind things about our spouse, or not showing our neighbor love...but snapping at them or being harsh) we open the door for the devil to bring symptoms of the flu or whatever.
There is another side to symptoms. The enemy comes along and whispers in your ear that the cough that you have is really something more serious......if we do not know that we don't have to listen to that (because we have not been renewing our minds with the Word of God) then we will accept that sickness into our mind and body. BUT, if we have been reading our scriptures and meditating on those scriptures have become confident that God's desire is for us to remain well. And we know that according to Matthew 16:19 & 18:18 Jesus says that He will give us the keys to the kingdom: whatever is bound on earth is bound in heaven, then we can bind that sickness and then trust that Is 54:17 (no weapon formed against us shall prosper).....all of these scriptures build our faith and trust that what God's Word says is true. That is why God instructs us to meditate (which means to mutter to oneself) because Romans 10:17 says that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.
Just because one believes in God, and His ability to perform miracles....does not mean that one trusts what God's Word says.
blessings!
