No.Interesting, do we ever read of the Apostles / disciples using their swords ot teaching us to do the same?
In Luke 22: 35-38 Jesus told the disciples told to buy swords as weapon?
However, in In Matthew 25:52 we see........ “For all who take the sword will perish by the sword”. Is there a contradiction here????? NO!
As with all the Scriptures, we must always apply CONTEXT to correctly understand what is being said. Here in Luke 22, Jesus's instruction to buy a sword was not a call to violence or rebellion, but a sober reminder that they were entering a dangerous and uncertain time.
Still, the Bible does acknowledge the right to self-defense in certain situations as seen in and Jesus’ words in Luke 22:36 reflects the reality that His followers would need to be prepared for hardship, including physical danger.
In those days, robbers were everywhere as were lions and bears along the roads.
Same as today. As believers today, we are called to be wise, peaceful, and courageous. We are to rely on God’s provision and stand firm in the truth of the gospel, putting on the full armor of God but we are also to be prepared for things that may come our way.
