I went to Gene Scott's church in Glendale, California, for about two months. It was essentially orthodox, there was much stress on faith.
I'm not the greatest on theology doctrine, so I'm not sure about Orthodox. But the stress on Faith, Correct understanding of it can't be understated.

I studied under him for 38 years , but never saw him in person. I did visit so calf in 05 and got to attend Melissa Scotts services for about a year. Got to see the collection. I wasn't accepted there, they wanted me to have a tithing number and make my tithes seen by the staff. So because i always mailed mine in anonymously, they wouldn't accept me. I could go to the services, but i asked to be involved in some part of the ministry and never got a call back in 14 months of going there.

So i was never able to share the experience i had in 87 with them. I have so much respect for their teaching, a hold nothing against how i was treated.

The highest form of Gods nature flowing through us is "giving in secret." I just couldn't accept the fact they monitor the giving.

I will further freak people out as far as TV guys explaining verses…

I used to watch The Shepherd’s Chapel.

Yeah yeah yeah am odd!
Think good to have a variety of respected teachers, as Dr Sproul and Macarthur would be ones for in depth bible study, while those such as warren wiersbe and chuck swindoll ones to help you in doctrine application to daily life

Back when there were few on TV so Shepherd’s it was.
Did help in taking apart verses. I learned the Berean method there.
I ignored his mannerisms and harsh delivery.
I understand the Southern tenor and beat.

I later studied online with some greats some of you may recognize.

Here is an Aussie site leaning KJVO.

Knowing Jesus

So many more of those I “sat at their feet” to learn more of Our Lord and Savior personally.

Have befriended so many some remarkable watchmen our aim is to Know Jesus and as our Pastor Dan of our local church beautifully explained to “put on Jesus” November 30th.

What I meant by orthodox, was that they did not have any aberrant teaching at that time. Much can change between 1975 and 1987.
I live about 15 miles from downtown LA, but back in 1975 I was living in Glendale, walking distance from his church.

How does this NOT raise some red flags?

Pastor Ravi Zacharias, a minister from the past. I remember he was in ministry for 40+ years (or more?) I know he got caught up in public allegations and media criticism.
Bob.... this was more than just allegations and media criticism. There were serious offences here... Ravi was guilty of some lewd acts.

Ravi was someone I could have listened to all day long. He was gifted in apologetics... however.... he left his legacy with a terrible stain due to his refusal to confess his sin before his death. He left a huge... heartbreaking mess for his family and ministry.

I was devastated by this news.

I just wanted to clarify this.

Wow, that's when he was at his best in those beginning years. I was able to do a few services at the Cathedral before they sold it. And did a lot of services at the Glendale church also.

He's a teacher that would be difficult to get a read on without spending at least a few years to get a toe hold. He taught with the Gestalt method of teaching, throw a bunch of things at you all at once, then eventually it hits you and you get it.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane crossnote.

LOL, you know a church that doesn't have any red flags? He was an acquired taste to say the least. I had an advantage, i had the experience first , then heard his teaching. That's how I new.

Hello faither;

When you attended this Church their autonomy was not in favor with you. I knew members who never became "members," couldn't vote on important issues. Others did become members and adhered to their governance.

I tell you the truth this does raise flags. However, since you felt anointed in Pastor Scott's teaching I can understand your discipleship without becoming a full fledged member.

God bless you for your honesty, brother.

Good morning, In Awe of Him;

Yes, you're adding to the clarification. This is sad for all of us.

In the ministry I am aware of most ministers and the allegations that arose for many of them, especially the ones that passed away.

For those who were proven and judged by the courts or the Church is a process of examination and setting apart. Still, all ministers remain accountable to God for their ministry. He sees everything.

Speaking for myself, whether these allegations surfaced or were proven I don't kick a man or woman in their grave. God is final judge.

This reminds me of Jesus. The Lord didn't bemoan Judas for his betrayal or judge His disciples for scattering. He doesn't forget but forgave.

God bless you, sister.

Bob

Ya Bob, that's one of the things i liked about his church. Their was no board, no voting, none of that. Just a teacher, who knew he would be held accountable for what he taught and did there. His salary was one dollar a year. I didn't know him well enough to discern how he spent his money. But i do know he felt a calling to preserve Gods word in every language, because of the blood spilt on it. His collection took me 10 hours to see correctly. Like i said before, I've never met a person that liked him, but I'm reserving a lot of i told you so s on the other side.

I remember an anointed Pastor and author from the 70s that was ministered to by Mother Teresa who was from Skopje, Romania. She passed away in 1997. Something she said that inspired him during his overseas missionaries.

We plan to return to Skopje in March through May 2026.

Hello faither;

By chance was your sharing on the discipline of Pisteuo from Pastor Gene Scott?

Hello faither;

By chance was your sharing on the discipline of Pisteuo from Pastor Gene Scott?
He's the one that i learned about pisteuo from. But that piece of the puzzle added to my experience, started a 35 years burning desire to know what happened, and how it happened. He is the only one, in my life, that I've ever heard teach about pisteuo correctly. Being given that information and desire, i feel truly like the watchman that must decide to warn others or not. This is me warning others.

Not sure i would call it a discipline, it's just the correct application of Faith towards Christ.

I don't know you from Adam Bob, but there's something special about you. For 35 years i've waited for someone exposed to this understanding to simply ask the right question. You just asked one of them, thank you.

J
