Laying on of hands

Hallo friends
Have we considered the significance of laying on of hands.
According to Gods word speaking of course. Hebrews 6:1,2; Genesis 48:14; Genesis 48:17-20.
So how many reasons are given for the laying on of hands. I think have an answer, but who will confirm it?

There many reasons for the "laying on of hands" in the Bible. It's primary use was for ministering healing in the New Testament.

Mar 16:17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
Mar 16:18 they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover."

In scripture we also see it commonly used to pass on blessings and legacies/gifts.

It was also used to pass the "spirit of wisdom" from Moses to Joshua.

Deu 34:9.. And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him. So the people of Israel obeyed him and did as the LORD had commanded Moses.

Cool.
Healing - Matt 8:2-3; Mark 7:32; Mark 16:17-18; Acts 9:17-18; James 5:14
Blessing - Matt19:13-15; Mark 10:13-14 (This is cool though)
CCW, I missed that scripture on Wisdom, thanks
Wisdom - 1 Tim 5:22, Deut 34:9

There are a few more - I actually did not think the wisdom one would come up this quickly, but cool.

The laying on of hands was also used to "transfer" of sins of man to a sacrifice....

Exo 29:10.. "Then you shall bring the bull before the tent of meeting. Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the bull. ....
Exo 29:15.. "Then you shall take one of the rams, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the ram, ....
Exo 29:19.. "You shall take the other ram, and Aaron and his sons shall lay their hands on the head of the ram, ....

Moses was commanded of God to lay hands upon Joshua to "put some honor upon Joshua"

Num 27:18 And the LORD said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay thine hand upon him;
Num 27:19 And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation; and give him a charge in their sight.
Num 27:20 And thou shalt put some of thine honour upon him, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may be obedient.
Num 27:21 And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him after the judgment of Urim before the LORD: at his word shall they go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him, even all the congregation.
Num 27:22 And Moses did as the LORD commanded him: and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation:
Num 27:23 And he laid his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the LORD commanded by the hand of Moses.

I missed the honor bit also, but something else can be seen here.
Was Moses not authorised by God to lay hands on with specific purpose. I'm trying to say, laying on of hands to impart something is an act that is authorised by God, so does that not limit man to just run rampant?
Just a question.

As with any Godly "doctrine" man has and does take things to extreme, and make the "doctrine" of laying on hands to be a "ritual".
All things must be done through the leading of the Spirit of God. Not to many Church's actually teach this doctrine which is why it is nether used or over used.

Heb 6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
Heb 6:2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

The laying on of hands to impart the Holy Ghost.

Act 8:14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
Act 8:15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
Act 8:16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Act 8:17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Act 19:4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
Act 19:5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Act 19:6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

The laying on of hands to "confirm" ones ministry.

Act 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work where unto I have called them.
Act 13:3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

The laying on of hands for the importation of a spiritual gift.

1Ti 4:14.. Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

2Ti 1:6.. Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

Yes, you are right, it becomes a bit ritualistic.
But yet, it is a teaching that carries a lot of water, and that is why I started this.
We need to learn about laying on of hands, and when it is warranted.
But, on we go.

Yes, you are right, it becomes a bit ritualistic.

We need to learn about laying on of hands, and when it is warranted.
But, on we go.
It is warranted any time we feel prompt from the Holy Spirit to do so. It is not something that man should have control of or say in and how but to simply obey and do.

To many things of the Lord man has tried to control or set a standard of how it should or should not be done. Man chooses and picks churches out of how it feels or looks or how loud or quiet or how much they sing or stand or lift hands or how many members or how close it is to them and so forth.

Those are mans ways that he has placed as thee Godly way to find a church. I got news for you it is only mans way and holds no value what so ever. God has a church He wants you in. It might be close or across town or in another state but no matter where it is, this is where you will find everything He has for you. We need to seek Him on the church and not what we like or dis like. Then stay planted where He plants us No Matter What.

Now @Arrie03 no disrespect meant to you or your thread. This is strong in me and I felt propmt to speak it and I used your thread to do so and again I meant no disrespect to you or your thread.
God Bless
Jim

I fully agree, that is why I say that sometimes people use laying on of hands on a ritualistic way. But it is not, so we need to understand where God wants us, and for that, we look at the Word.
And laying on of hands is according to the Word of God required.
