Weight is a problem...

Have you ever considered one of these superzoom bridge cameras? Between us, we have a Fuji FinePix SL1000. It doesn't get results quite as good as the DSLR and can't (if I knew what I was doing...) do as many things but it's much lighter in weight and in DSLR equivilant terms would be 24x1200mm zoom. It can be a nice alternative when you don't fancy the bulk or weight and cover you where you'd otherwise be changing lenses.

I originally got mine for cinemetography. Then I started to like the photography side. Now I like the gopro
