Let's start by not referring the Holy Spirit as "it." He is a living breathing person with a personality, emotions, and intellect.
I was a Benny Hinn skeptic from watching him on television. One day, he came to speak at my school. The guy has a magnetism about him which is really rather scary. For many years I didn't like benny hinn, I actually liked benny hill better [risqué british comedian]
but I've warmed to him,
you have to be mad to name Jesus and stand in front of millions, I mean millions of people and proclaim or
try to make out someone is healed...its just ridiculous to even think.
Benny Hinn has had some evil things put online about him and has gone through a divorce and
even said on his show it cost him heaps financially, he was honest about it.
The idea is that it would be used to glorify God, so I'm not sure how a tradition would ever replace or obliterate God.Traditions are fine imo as long as it doesn't go against scripture and that person doesn't put it before God
I could name many examples where tradition comes before God in a few denominations. I won't go there since it has been said many times on this board and usually causes heated arguments. The idea is that it would be used to glorify God, so I'm not sure how a tradition would ever replace or obliterate God.
I can imagine, but consider this at least: If you were a Christian of another denomination, would you get anything out of BEING a Christian if it was just to show up and perform some kind of empty ritual that gave you no closeness with God? Would you eventually give up on such pointless exercises? I know I would. So clearly the people who belong to the denominations you're speaking of are NOT having that experience at all, they get the same kind of value out that you do out of the faith that YOU belong to, so perhaps it's not fair to condemn an entire denomination for the kind of Christianity they choose to practice. And anyway "tradition comes before God" is really just an opinion and not a fact, as we can't see into each other's hearts to know what is really going on.I could name many examples where tradition comes before God in a few denominations. Apparently Jesus saw things a bit more clearly?I can imagine, but consider this at least: If you were a Christian of another denomination, would you get anything out of BEING a Christian if it was just to show up and perform some kind of empty ritual that gave you no closeness with God? PLAR has left the forum. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a reply."And anyway "tradition comes before God" is really just an opinion and not a fact, as we can't see into each other's hearts to know what is really going on." Apparently Jesus saw things a bit more clearly?
Mar 7:6. And he said to them, "Well did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites, as it is written, "'This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me;
Mar 7:7. in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'
Mar 7:8. You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men."
the Lord either sends a revival or revives individuals with HEALINGS, TONGUES, MIRACLES, PROPHECY, visions, dreams, etc hardliners including priests get up and condemn the work as being of satan, especially talking in tongues.
Great realization. I came here to see if I had blasphemed the Holy Spirit, and I don't think so.How?
This is a serious issue for priests and ministers in all Christian churches.
Every time the church becomes bogged down in religious culture, traditions, forms of worship, ceremonies,
they become a money/land organisational religious group
and then
the Lord either sends a revival or revives individuals with HEALINGS, TONGUES, MIRACLES, PROPHECY, visions, dreams, etc
hardliners including priests get up and condemn the work as being of satan, especially talking in tongues.
that is when they have unknowingly blasphemed.
The traditionalist hold to an errant view that the Holy Spirit was only active in the Apostles
and only in the first century to establish the church.
So naturally if you take that stand then logically when a revival occurs
to whom do you attribute
supernatural works?
Probably, if you had then you wouldn't care anyway.Great realization. I came here to see if I had blasphemed the Holy Spirit, and I don't think so.
Yeah, that's true.Probably, if you had then you wouldn't care anyway.![]()
My perspective on this is that there have been too many false claims, too many uncaring criticisms of people who are not healed etc. How?

Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever. When someone says "revival" I want plenty of irrefutable proof. I want to see the right kind of fruit.
When someone says that a person (who very conveniently can't be found) had a severed leg put back in place, why would I accept this as truth? Show me the before and after person.
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever.

Barry sounds like a (typical?) revival conversion. I note with much approval that he is describing a dynamic relationship with the living Jesus as distinct from the dry religion so prevalent these times.Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today and forever.
