New Census?

In Australia, we have not had any legitimate unscheduled census taking. When there is a census, it is well publicized and each census rep is well accredited. We do have a number of shonks who try by various means to extract private data either by phone or by door knocking. My phone number is 'unlisted', yet we do get phone calls from all sorts of people wanting information. When asked how they got our number they say "oh it is just by random selection". Well it happens too frequently to be put down to random chance, which leads me to believe that private information is both shared and sold in this country.
What about the thing I heard about down there about answering 'personal' questions through a government census of some sorts this last week?

Sorry Mike, but I doubt if authentic "truth" is always verifiable in the secular world, especially in this computer age.

No I don't see God as in secular society. He is not a puppet master IMO, and I see Him always limiting His influence on free will.

All of your verse you quoted are about the spiritual Truth, not whether part X is better than party Y.

My friend; can we agree that as Christians-we are called to reach the 'secular world' with the truth?

I know you feel pretty much the same way I do about creation versus evolution; as person who was reached through a 'creation ministry' in the battle against the theory of evolution- I am glad someone took the time to apply the truth to expose the lie.

Do we not do the same thing when we show the people 'the Bible says...'? Yes salvation is the key-but how do people find the thing they are looking for that they don't know what it is without relative truth being shown in their lives?

I think as Christians we have a tendency to forget what it is like to be lost; and thus we forget what it took to be reached. I don't want my daughter-or anyone's child to suffer the deceit that is being pushed on them through an agenda that distorts or eliminates the need for our God.

Old, Buddy....I don't see the "truth" via the world as anywhere near as important as the Gospel. IT is the lens whereby we can properly see what's going on, but it is not the vehicle, IMO, of political or quasi-political action.

No one will come and give his heart to Christ because of a census, or tax, or gun law or any other "fear of the world" engendering emotion, IMO.

Ahh yes thank you! The article, (not the video ) you provided a link to attests to the verity of my comments on census up here in Australia.
Perhaps I should point out too, re the video that gives a very brief view of a screen shot showing an ABS document is taken from the ABS web sight and is not an actual census document as I suspect is the intended impression.

If someone knocked on door and asked me questions claiming they were "on official business", I would tell them to do one.

Elaborate criminal activity springs to mind, lets survey the neighbourhood and get people to tell us what they own and what their security is so we know which houses we can steal from later on.

Any official Census as pointed out previous replies, would be advertised and made known to the public before hand.

All of your answers to the ACS are completely secure and are not shared with other government departments.
Whish that was true here. Our government sells our rica details to anyone for R50 ($6) a number (name, adress, cell #).

It is scary to see our freedoms being taken away by the growing Leviathan of government. I see a tension here for us. I think we need to be reasonably well informed that we might understand the times that we are living in. There is a definite spiritual dimension to that. Yet, on the other hand, we can get too obsessed with conspiracy theories and shipwreck our ministries and Christian lives. We must remember that this world is 'enemy territory'. Satan is the god of this world, and he is the puppet master pulling the strings until Christ returns. I think that if the Lord tarries, hard times could be ahead for believers. We might get a dose of what the early church experienced. The times make it imperative that we draw nigh to the Lord.

And draw night to each other as the Body of Christ....

I think us drawing together is inevitable. Anyone who stands against the rather clear / extreme immorality out there is a brother and best friend. True Christianity can simply not be faked these days.

Mmmmm...except on the Internet....It's quite possible to "fake" behind a monitor for quite a long time.

But in the real world? Next to impossible unless one forces oneself into a tiny church circle, and stands apart from the unsaved.
