Original faith verses modern faith
The Bible states that for a man to hold the office of Bishop he must be of good character, sound in his faith and tested by the Holy Spirit. Based on this we know in faith the early bishops were doctrinally sound in their teachings. If we then accept the scriptures are inspired by the Holy Spirit, we know in faith these words are true, yet many today reject the tesimonies of these men.
A further point is that we today rely on the testimony of the early Church when we accept their choice in what writings were included in the canon of scripture we call the bible. Again, if we reject that these men were inspired of God then we cannot claim the canon is 100% accurate, thus we reduce the bible to no more than a compilation of books and letters chosen by the carnal minds of men.
The question is why do many that claim to be inspired by the Holy Spirit preach different doctrines of faith to those that we know for a fact were.
Surely God, who states He never changes, has not varied or turned from what He originally declared was Truth. Do those that preach these new doctrines and practices suggest the Holy Spirit inspires division between the faithful of the past and those of today.
May Jesus Christ bring peace and unity to all, for the further glory of His name
May The Lord Bless
