Should Christmas be Celebrated Or Rejected, You Decided

Romans 14:5 (NASB)
One person regards one day above another, another regards every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind

Paul said in Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Christmas is not of God, its Pagan. The birth of Jesus the Christ was assigned the date of December 25th, because on this day, as the sun began its return to the northern skies, the pagan devotees of Mithra celebrated the dies natalis Solis Invicti (birthday of the invincible sun). The 25th day of December was advocated by Julius 1, Bishop of Rome from 337 to 352, as the most suitable time to commemorate the birth of Christ.

Paul says in verse 3:9 Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

Its a lie to tell people Jesus christ was born on December 25th, or santa coming to town. Put away that old false hood ways, putting false feeling upon people.

Verse 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.

Wheres the knowledge, the truth. Lets take a look at some knowledge..."Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might. Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? For to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee. But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities. Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshish, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men. But the LORD is the true God; he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. Thus shall ye say unto them, the gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, even they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens. He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion. When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightning’s with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.

Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish". (Jeremiah 10:1-15)

When a person come in this truth, deal with the true uncut word of God, all these paganism Holidays means nothing, because its not of christ. In Luke 4: 14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. 4:15 And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all. 4:16And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

Notice Jesus custom; now notice the custom Jeremiah spoke about. Which is most follow today? Jesus custom he kept the sabbath (saturday) day on the seventh day of the week, Today people keep the Sunday, the first day of the week, and follow the customs Jeremiah says not to follow. Then people say they Christians!! WOW!!

You are convinced in your mind it is pagan. I am convinced in my mind that MY GOD MADE ALL DAYS, therefore they ALL belong to HIM!!!!!

...deal with the true uncut word of God

"The uncut" word of God is what we're all after. It's not always so obvious, though, and it's difficult to leave our preconceptions out of interpretation.

If I understand you correctly (correct me if I'm wrong), you've interpreted this passage to read something like:

"Learn not the way of the heathen"
The way of the heathen is to cut down trees and decorate them. [probably referring to the asherah pole]
Therefore don't cut down trees and decorate them.

I would read it this way:

"Learn not the way of the heathen"
The way of the heathen is to think that objects created by God and man have real power.
Therefore don't regard created objects as having real power: "Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good."

The way you've read it seems to suggest that a few humans in one time and place have the power to take aspects of God's creation, which He made good, and forever corrupt them for all people.

In the way I believe it's meant to be read, it just says that created things don't have any real power, and there is no god but God.

If people were believing that christmas trees had some sort of mystical power, this would be the perfect passage to use. But if I'm reading it in some way that isn't the "uncut" Word, then please, let's discuss it.

Another example:

This passage explains why cutting down a tree, shaping it into a cross and securing it in your church is okay. But believing that crafted item has some sort of mystical power (like in hollywood horror films) is not okay, and you would believe that in vain.

"And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that the entire world should be taxed. (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.) And all went to be taxed every one into his own city. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David) To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child. And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered. And she and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn". (St. Luke 2:1-7)

"Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh". (St. Matthew 2:1-11)

The bible record of the birth of Jesus doesn't give a date for his birth. Even Herod, the King of Judea, didn't know the date of Jesus birth; so how can we know it? The wise men (maybe 2 or 300), the bible didn't give a number, found the young child (not infant) in the house (not the manger). Well, so much for that fairy tale.

Let's look at some of the absurd things applied to the day that man has set for the birthday of the Son of God, Jesus the Christ, our Savior. Santa Clause, Ole Saint Nick, that jolly old fat man that lives in the North Pole, runs a workshop with Elves (little people) and ride on a sleigh pulled by flying reindeer. He is reported to deliver gifts to all good children around the world on Christmas, beginning at midnight and being done before morning. Entering houses by landing his sleigh on the rooftops and descending down the chimney with his bag of toys on his back. Once in the house, he puts the toys around the Christmas tree, eats the cookies and drinks the milk that is left for him before going to the next house. Sometimes taking time to get a kiss from mommy. Well, according to history, Saint Nicholas, who they portray Santa Clause, or Ole Saint Nick after, was a 4th century Bishop of Myra, which is located in Asia Minor , on the southwestern coast of the Mediterranean Sea.

A long way away from the North Pole! Also, according to Webster student dictionary, the definition for Nick, "The Devil" usually Old Nick. Now, is it possible to travel around the world in less than 24 hours stopping at every house? Reindeers don't fly; Christmas takes place in winter, so there's fire in the fireplaces to keep the house warm. What do you think would happen to a fat man trying to come down a chimney with a bag of toys on his back with a fire in the fireplace? If it's suppose to be Jesus birthday; why do we have to buy each other presents and what do we give him? A day filled with drinking, resulting in drunkenness, a day with a lot of fornication and adultery taking place. A day filled with lies pertaining to him. And what do a decorated tree, mistletoe, Yule logs, fire and lights have to do with Jesus?

The modern Christmas tree can easily be traced back to seventeenth century Germany; branches of holly and mistletoe were likewise displayed. Not only did these plants remain green through the winter months, but they also bore fruit at that time, thus symbolizing life in an otherwise dead season.

Many of our present Christmas traditions and symbols have historical roots in ancient paganistic rites related to Celtic, Druid, Roman or Nordic. Druid ceremonies were based on an eight-fold year. Four were solar and the other four were lunar. The Yule celebration is Dec. 22 or Winter Solstice. Yule is one of the eight festival days of the pagans. The Roman and Nordic invaders of Ireland had an influence on the prominence and significance of Yule. Yule, in both old Roman paganism and in Norse tradition, was the start of the New Year. Yule comes from a Nordic word meaning "wheel." The Christmas wreath is a symbol of the wheel of the year. Yule altars throughout paganism show the influence of Ireland and the Druids with their holly, pine and mistletoe coverings. Yule rituals enact birthing rites, ask for the sun god's return, and beseech that the wheel of the year be turned again.

Sounds like you've been to some better Christmas parties than I've come across:) Seriously though, I think most families have pretty tame Christmas celebrations. I live in Australia, and it's so hot, there's not really a lot to do besides go sit on the beach all day. It's a pretty low-key day. I think for most people, if they're guilty of any indulgence, it's too much sugar.

And what do a decorated tree, mistletoe, Yule logs, fire and lights have to do with Jesus?

They don't have anything to do with Jesus. Neither are they sin. They are just decorations, that's it.

Trace those things back even further: Before the traditions you mentioned, trees, branches and Dec 22 were just created things, made by God. Did those few druids from one time and place in history somehow have the power to forever corrupt for everyone things that God made good?

The cross also has its roots in paganism, but if I go into a church and see one, I don't get upset because they've got this Roman symbol of torture and murder on their wall. I realize that to the people that hung it, it doesn't mean what its designers intended it to mean.

I celebrate the Birth of Jesus on the 25th December.
I don't get drunk.
I don't commit fornication.
I don't commit adultery.
I don't play strip poker.
I don't think of any pagan things , rites , gods or magic incantations.
The 25th December is probably not Jesus' birthday, but so what?
Question for all the scrooge McDucks here, why were the Zoroastrian priests summonsed to appear before the Christ Child? C'mon you all know so mush about paganism, you must know the significance of this.

The very angels and all Heaven rejoiced that Christ was born and I have yet to hear a good reason for not celebrating the greatest gift of all. To castigate others for celebrating this day by saying it is pagan is to show you do not know the true reason for the celebration and seems to be motivated by trying to appear the "better, self sacrificing" Christian. The Christian who does not reflect God's glory for whatever reason is doing something very wrong. And trying to teach it shows grave error.

The True Meaning Of Christ-Mass

They tell us that it is the season to be jolly. It is a time of ornaments, red and green decorations, silver bells, holly, mistletoe and colored lights. It is also a time of department store Santas calling out their universal mantra, "Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas." Nearly all of the realm of so-called "Christianity" join in and repeat this same greeting, "Merry Christmas!"
Although we hear these words constantly as they resonate millions of times throughout the land, almost nobody understands what they are really saying. It is the purpose of this tract to take the words, "Merry Christmas" and examine the true meaning and essence of those words.
A true Christian would want to examine everything they say, because Jesus said in Matthew 12:36-37, "But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgement. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." We will now set aside all of the customs, glitter and traditions of Christmas, which were taken from pagan witchcraft and popularized by the Roman Catholic Church, and we will focus on the true meaning of the words, "Merry Christmas!"
The word "Merry" is simple to define. It unquestionably means to be happy, joyful and light-hearted. The word "merry" fits into the ambience of laughter and frivolity. This word "merry" by itself is innocent and innocuous enough, but as we will now see, it becomes heinously blasphemous when used with the word "Christmas."
Here let it be noted that most people think that the word, "Christmas" means "the birth of Christ." By definition, it means "death of Christ", and I will prove it by using the World Book Encyclopedia, the Catholic Encyclopedia, and a book entitled, The Mass In Slow Motion.
If you are an honest, sincere and discerning Christian, please read on; if not, you might as well stop right here. The World Book Encyclopedia defines "Christmas" as follows: "The word Christmas comes from "Cristes Maesse", an early English phrase that means "Mass of Christ." (1) It is interesting to note that the word "Mass", as used by the Roman Catholics, has traditionally been rejected by the so-called Protestants, such as Lutherans, Baptists, Methodists, Presbyterians, Pentecostals and so on. The word "Mass" is strictly a Catholic word and thus, so is "Christ-Mass."
It would stand to reason, that since all of these denominations love and embrace "Christ-Mass", that December 25th is the great homecoming day, when all of the Protestants become Catholic for a day. It would seem that all of the so-called "wayward daughters" of the Romish church return to their mother, the scarlet harlot. Thus, all of the so-called Protestant churches could sing to the Pope that popular song "I'll be home for Christmas."
As previously stated, the word "Mass" in religious usage means a "death sacrifice." The impact of this fact is horrifying and shocking; for when the millions of people are saying, "Merry Christmas", they are literally saying "Merry death of Christ!" Furthermore, when the fat man in the red suit laughs boisterously and says, "Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas", he is mocking and laughing at the suffering and bleeding Saviour, who died for our sins. He does this while parents place their little children into his waiting arms to hear his false promises of gifts that he says he will give them. Consider what you are saying when you say "Merry Christmas."
What is so amusing about our Saviour's painful death? What is so funny? Why is Santa laughing? Why are you going along with it? Your words do count and Satan knows it. Yes, the word "Mass" does mean "death sacrifice", and to cement that fact, we will consider the definition of the inventors of the religious application of the word "Mass." I am looking at page 537 of the Catholic Encyclopedia, which says, "In the Christian law, the supreme sacrifice is that of the Mass." It goes on to say, "The supreme act of worship consists essentially in an offering of a worthy victim to God, the offering made by a proper person, as a priest, the destruction of the victim." (2) Please note carefully the word, "victim" of the Mass. The Latin word for victim is "Hostia" from which the word "host" is derived. The Mass, by definition of those who coined the word, is a sacrifice involving a victim. There is no other meaning for the word "Mass" or "Christ-Mass." On page 110 of a book entitled "The Mass In Slow Motion", we find the following words: "It is only with the consecration that the sacrifice of the Mass is achieved. I have represented the Mass to you, more than once, as a kind of ritual dance." (3)
In essence, the Mass is the ceremonial slaying of Jesus Christ over and over again, followed by the eating of his flesh and the drinking of his blood. The Mass is the death sacrifice, and the "Host" is the victim. This is official Roman Catholic doctrine, and "Christmas" is a word that they invented. Again, I ask, what is so merry about the pain, bleeding, suffering and death of Jesus Christ? Satan has done quite a job of getting millions of so-called "Christians" to blaspheme. What a deceiver he is.
Now you know the true meaning of the word "Christmas" or Mass of Christ. There is much more to know about this pagan holiday, and we will be glad to provide you with plenty of evidence that Jesus was not born on December 25th, and that Christmas is not only a lie, but is actually a witches' sabbat called "Yule" in clever disguise. I will point out that mass, even today, is not said for the dead but the living, in Christ. When I say Merry Christmas I am saying have a good joyful celebration of the birth of our Lord. God knows the intention of my heart. Get you behind me Satan for trying to take my joy (once again) away by twisting loving intentions into evil doings. All Christians know that by His birth and His death we are given the grace to go back to God. There is no sin in reflecting it. There is sin in refusing to reflect God's glory. There is no indication, even in reformation, that the early fathers of the church were all wrong or the 1st church was all evil from the beginning. They saw no wrong in continuing the celebration of Christ's birth as it was considered of God.

almost nobody understands what they are really saying....
A true Christian would want to examine everything they say...

A few comments on the nature of language:

Language (including the meaning of words) is not static. Its nature is to change. English is a complex language that has its roots in many prior languages. While it's true that it's good for us to examine everything we say, tracing the origins of words does not qualify as a valid "examination," because few words in modern English mean exactly what they first meant. For example, the word "girl" in middle english means a child of any sex. If a person now uses it to talk about only one sex, we don't say that they "don't understand what they are really saying." They are actually using the best modern word available to communicate what they mean.

It's impossible for the claim "almost nobody understands what they are really saying" to be true. Everyone understand what they are saying, it's really more of a question of whether they are using the best words available to articulate what they mean, relative to the person being addressed. So even though you know part of the origin of some of these words, perhaps it would be best to simply assume that people are using these words reflecting their changes in modern discourse, and that they're not "blaspheming" when they wish you a Merry Christmas. (I.e., instead of saying "you don't understand what you're saying," try to understand what people mean according to the most common modern usage of those words, giving some grace to those who don't have a PhD in etymology:)).

All I will say in reply is "How sad"

Jesus tells us in scripture how he is to be remebered and in no place in scripture does He say His birth. People are going to do as they please. We must becareful and be sure we are following the sheperd and not the sheep.

Well I suppose if we only do those things Jesus expressly said to do, we need to:
stop using the internet.
Stop using Cell Phones
Stop using all forms of computer.
Stop watching TV.
Stop playing recorded music.
Stop using Microwave ovens.
Stop driving automobiles and bicycles.
Stop using Pianos and electric guitars and keyboards in Church.
In fact out with everything not listed in the gospels.
Know where I can get a good 4 bedroon cave and a new or used camp fire? (not lpg fueled of course)
Seriously, don't you see the difference between being told "don't" and not being told "don't"?
