I did share in another post that I still have 11,000 marbles all packaged in bags of 50. I used to teach kids how to play marbles and sell them back in the 90s. I asked the Salvation Army thrift shop if I can donate them and they said yes.
Please pray I'm not just talking but will be a doer of this project.
Hello brothers and sisters;
Well, on November 17th I emailed a marble club regarding my collection of 11,000 marbles and they responded to my donation with great interest. I was surprised to learn they're right here in the SF Bay Area and we made arrangements for them pick them up this week.
I don't know how I can use this as a tax write off and it reminded me of a commercial where the kids didn't have enough money to buy a box of Cracker Jacks so the boy gave the cashier a marble and after looking at it, he accepted it instead of money. lol!
it sounds like you have a rather neat collection that would be hard to part with . tax papers dispose of your collection would cool to look at.In January 2023 a marble club came to my house and picked up 11,000 marbles! I kept these in a large container for many years but finally donated them.
These marbles are from my small personal collection in our curio. These marbles are contemporary and were designed by glass blowers. The marble with white swirls was purchased in San Francisco at Fisherman's Wharf. The "beachball" marble was designed by a couple from Seaside, CA. We purchased this at a marble show in Seattle, WA. The marble with a dog in the center was designed over 115 years ago and purchased at a show in Las Vegas, NV.

Such a good post. Ty.Hello brothers and sisters;
I have to deal with a problem in our home, being a pack rat but a spiritual pack rat.
I have boxed and stored in Ikea white cabinet drawers stuff like church documents and documents going back 22 years, old career docs, tax returns, old mortgage docs, and old outdated electronic cables and hardware, etc...
I always felt that one day I may have a need for this stuff and I feel that's part of the trap. I think of the Scripture in Matthew 6:19 - 21, 19 āDo not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. - ESV
Am I trying to take this stuff to heaven?
Many of you may be able to relate to my problem. I've researched and the first thing I came across, "hold the item in my hand and ask, do I really need it?"
Shall I put it in the trash, recycling, donate?
Can anyone relate and what solutions did you come up with that may help this thread?
Bob, can you show us the remaining 10,097 marbles?In January 2023 a marble club came to my house and picked up 11,000 marbles! I kept these in a large container for many years but finally donated them.

P-K4My boys at school are all into chess.
So I bought 4 chess sets (also checkers) and will set up some tables in the library in the coming weeks to see how it goes.
I am not sure its safe to have marbles rolling around the library. They promised me they would be quiet while playing chess.
You know......when I retired, my secretary went back and found the 1st Sunday bulletin (50 years) where I was introduced as their pastor.Hello brothers and sisters;

I struggle with this (as the mountain of 'junk' grows) in the garage. My minimalist wife says "If your iffy about an item, box it up and if you don't miss it after a few months, chuck it or donate it (not tax papers etc.). Don't place a burden on your posterity"Hello brothers and sisters;

My minimalist wife says "I only recognized one name in your 'famous' list, and at least the cows don't hoarde"You know......when I retired, my secretary went back and found the 1st Sunday bulletin (50 years) where I was introduced as their pastor.
She had it blown up and put into a frame and it hangs on my wall today. It is a treasured item!!!!!
I have kept lots and of stuff. I am sitting right now in my office at home. I have signed autographs/mementoes from J.C Penny,(Book) Jack Eckerd, President George W. Bush,(letter) Bobby Bowden,(Football) Richard Petty, Dale Ernhart and even Joe Namath!
I even lave a picture of a note my granddaughter sent me when she was 3. It says......."Grandpa, I love you more than I do cows".
My advice.........keep everything YOU can. There will come a day when you will be glad you did!!!!
Now that is really very sad. Only ONE!My minimalist wife says "I only recognized one name in your 'famous' list, and at least the cows don't hoarde"
