Struggling with homosexuality.

CBZone: I appreciated your previous post, it was encouraging but what do you mean by "I would suggest that if you are a christian you are standing in the wrong place as it were as if you were NOT crucified with Christ .", I'm slightly confused.

KingJ: That's very true what you said about James 4:8, I don't think I explained my last post right at all. I'm definitely going to continue drawing near to God and working on my relationship with Him.

I don't consider myself a gay person, I basically just struggle with same-sex attraction, and that kills me inside.

As for those that are saying homosexuality isn't a sin, there's plenty of verses in the bible that clearly say it is. I was reading 1 Corinthians the other day and I saw these verses:

1 Cor. 6:9-10, "Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals, nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, shall inherit the kingdom of God."
Indeed, but when it says homosexuals, those would be people who actually commit the act, just like a drunkard is someone who actually drinks.

God Bless,
MoG

You are missing the point.
Being "straight" doesn't automatically make you a fornicator any more than being same sex attracted means that you have an active gay sex life.
The verses you refer to are concerned with gay sex, you have to act on an urge for it to become sin.
All he has to do is think about doing the sin and it becomes a sin. If I lust after a woman I have already sinned.

But do you not sin just by being a straight male, do you?
We all sin. But the verses he was stating do in fact have everything to do with even thinking with lust toward another person. And if he is lusting toward another guy then it is lust with homosexual intent. But I'm on this thread for Patrick not to debate if he is a homosexual for thinking it or not. Our main concern is he stays focussed on God and doesn't go down that road.

Patrick I will continue to pray for you and I know God is going to find you a wonderful wife and He will give you many children if that is His plan for your life. When you are tempted and have any thoughts toward lust, if it is for a man or woman, just put your thoughts on Jesus and praise Him. God Bless

This is terrible advise. God will not bless him and his relationship with the Lord will be hindered if he followed your advise. Yes God will still love him but why would he defy Gods word. Patrick knows homosexuality is wrong and is on the right path. You my friend need to read the Word of God before making claims like you just did.
I wasn't quoting scripture. Meerly a life point to a certain degree.

Don't you think your life point should be a direct reflection from scripture?
I thought a non Christian approach would be less harsh than saying the Bible strictly condemns gay relationships.
I am not saying it is right, the relationship with God will be weak in a gay sexuality, but I don't think this is the best approach.

Having worked in law enforcement for 25+ yrs. I have interviewed pedophiles. They don't claim to be born that way, however some theories indicate that they may fix on certain age groups in tandem with events in their own lives at the same age. Head injuries and cultural/environmental factors "may" play a part. In the past, regarding homosexuality ( a totally separate situation) there are some mentions that 10% of animal kingdom shows some homosexuality. I dunno. I basically agree that we are all faced at some point in life with sexual sin/lust of some sort. And we have to struggle to make the right choices because they almost always turn out to be the choices that are really, objectively best for our lives. If we rely on our own will in these situations, without looking to God - we often choose wrong.

The video (well audio really) was good and aligns with what my experience has shown. I was surprised about the 7th Day Adventist denomination. Dunno much about them and all wikipedia says is they go by solo scriptura and their sabbath is Saturday.

There is good straight people in this world as there is good gay people in this world..... There is also evil people on both sides of sexuality.

I know I'd rather associate myself with a good gay person than an evil straight person that's for sure.

If you're a good person and you don't bother anyone, I'm almost sure good things at the end of this life awaits you.

People are murdered in certain parts of this world for being gay...... Now how can anyone tell me that's an offence worthy of such an evil act?

To the OP, you don't have to be upset about anything, just be yourself and I'm very sure God will love you no matter what.

Again, I say to all that there is no relationship with God to break when a person is a homosexual as there is no such thing as a homosexual Christian.

That thought is a product of liberal thinkers who simply can not and will not accept the Word of God. I do not say that to mean but to just post the obvious!

Homosexuality is an "abomination to the Lord thy God". That is what God said......NOT ME!

Can the homosexual become a Christian then????

YES! He must repent, turn from and end his known sin and come to Christ and he will be saved from his sin and then he must "go and sin not more..(KNOW SIN).

That simply is not the case by friend. Your comment show me that you do not and have not read the Scriptures and your comment is an opinion not a Bible fact.

God hates the sin of homosexuality because it destroys the FAMILY unit. God established the family when He married Adam and Eve and told them to multiply. Homosexuality destroys that command and that is why God hates it.

Please read Levitus 18 and Romans 1 for clear directions.

Silk....I have a close friend who is a Dr. at one of the prisons in Washington State. He evaluates and gives advice on those who are in prison for reasons of pedophilia and sexual related crimes.

We have talked about this many times and he has told me that he many in his field conclude that the accepted position is that a pedophile can never be corrected or "healed". He tells me that they should be locked up for LIFE without parole on their 1st conviction or executed because they will always revert back to that thing which has consumed them.

Have you heard that or do you have any thoughts about that???

My experience has shown me that there is no known ability to correct pedophilia. All my interviews have shown that while pedophiles know society feels it is wrong, in themselves - they always state that the victim was willfully provoking/enticing them to the act. They can be detered from actually recommitting such offenses, via drugs and fear but all of them continue to collect porn and often become obsessed with targets from afar, without acting. The ones I interviewed were literally practicing for years with hundreds of victims until they got caught. And the damage is long lasting and extremely traumatic.

Does it seem to you that the sin of child molestation is so heinous that once that line is crossed the pedophile is longer able to be controlled?

Child molestation is heinous, whether same gender (as witness the audio tape posted) or opposite gender. The reason that pedophiles face very real danger in the prisons is that so many inmates have very first hand knowledge of this and it's after effects. Most prostitutes, when interviewed, indicate molestation as children. The trauma is life changing and not in a good way. It reverberates. When you read that Mohammad had carnal knowledge of a 9 yr.old, it is hardly believable that God communicated to such as he, IMHO. Yet - I believe God can heal anything. But He is the only one. And having interviewed religious people - a bible school teacher - who picked his victims out of his class - it is hard to believe that they ever really understood God's message. Sexual sin has influence on all of us, whether we know it or not - and separates us from God.

Yes, A friend of mine destroyed his family by coming out to his wife when she had given him a beautiful home and 3 amazing kids. That for me is a sin - I agree totally.

But, If a person indeed never goes the above route in life and at a young age comes out to his family (mother & father), well then I disagree, for that is a completely different story.

This is my opinion because it is fact, I've heard it from a guy I worked with - Anyone who does destroy their family unit from coveting thy neighbor's wife for example, must be seen as much worse than two homosexual people having a decent relationship that doesn't harm anyone.

I'm sure God agrees with this.

I hope so anyway.

The God of the Bible is not going to cuddle up to sinners, please read these verses, 1 Corinthians 6:9; Revelation 21:8. You are condemned by the laws, Ephesians 2:3 says we are children of WRATH. Until you realize that you have a one way ticket to Hell you won't truly accept Jesus. What you're doing right now is making excuses and forgetting the law, the law shows that everyone is CONDEMNED. You are led astray if you think sin isn't going to be judged, everyone has sinned against God, until you realize this you won't truly understand your need for a savior.

Judging sins, by degrees, is a slippery slope. I cannot say that it is against God to love another human being, no matter the gender. How we express that love is another story. For both straight and gay.

Of course I agree you will be judged on your sins by God - That isn't what we are discussing here. A gay couple not bothering anyone is hardly in the same league as a paedophile I think you'll agree?

A paedophile for me is the only crime against a state that deserves death & ultimately a well deserved seat in Hell without question. A gay couple is in a different universe sin-wise for heavens sake.

I believe a gay person that doesn't affect anyone else will end up in heaven if they live their life in a good manner.

Just my 2 cents.
