Journal The Cabin

My diet. Many years ago was over 350 pounds. I was prediabetic and developing Alzheimer's. My life at 50 was going downhill fast.. I joined a gym. Met some good trainers and lost over 100 pounds. I did 2 cardio classes a week. There were days I thought my heart was going to explode.
But over the past few years, I have been very sick twice. I gained 40 back. SO I am losing that 40 and 60 more.
Exercise is like a wonder drug. Within a year, all my health problems disappeared. I shocked my doctor.
As soon as my weight started to go up, all my health problems started to come back.
So I am getting back on track again.

CranberryArtworks ... WOW..... and WOW....

What an amazing testimony.... and LOOKIE at what you have accomplished.

Oh my goodness.. your sharing of the struggle is most real to me. Having diabetes is NOT fun.... and at my age... once the weight packs on... It does NOT come off.... not to mention that HUNGER that just never seems to end. (Hyperphagia ).
I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes about 5 years ago... and I am STILL learning things about this disease.

I am most BLESSED because I have been able to maintain a basic reasonable weight... however... I have had an issue with one of my medications.... and have been off it for almost 6 months. I just started back up again at the lowest doseage possible. I regained 10 of 25 pounds I had lost.
I have been on the medication for almost a month now and I have noticed that the "eternal hunger" is gone... and the medication seems to be working as it is meant to. My doctor monitors me closely. I get lab work ( blood work ) done.. every three months and everything always comes up normal.

I think my saving grace is that I eat WELL... meaning I eat GOOD whole food for the most part. Tons of fresh vegetables... fresh fruit and very limited processed food. I still have the odd bag of potato chips hanging around but once in awhile... a sandwich and potato chips makes up a meal for me on lazy days.

EXERCISE ( that terrible word HAHA ).... that is our biggest friend and our worst nightmare. That is how it is for me... especially during the winter... but... I did get a treadmill so ... that should no longer be an issue. In the summer... I often take a 4.5 mile walk to the boardwalk and back home... and I usually do this before 7 am... so my 10,0000 steps are done before I even get into my day.

All the above to say.... I really APPRECIATE that you would be brutally honest about this JOURNEY of GOOD HEALTH.

You say you have 50 pounds to lose.... I have approximately 25 to reach my peak weight. I can already feel some weight loss over the last few weeks. I always see it in my face...

So..... I elect myself to be your CHEER LEADER... and maybe you will be mine.

The weather is still rather on the nippy side and so I am not going to start my walking until it warms up a bit. My walk to the boardwalk and back takes 1.5 hours... and so between that and my dips in the lake... I am satisfied that provided I follow through... I will have enough exercise.

GO Cranberry GO.... SO proud of you.

Are those supposed to keep the birds and critters out of the garden?
They are supposed to keep the CABIN safe from "owl" danger.
They are ODDLY cute... but since you and I seem to be INFLICTED with the same kind of BIZARRE humour... I am glad to see that I am on the RIGHT PATH. HAHAHA.

Your STALKING of me is paying off big time... I am just waiting to start growing ANTLERS. HAHAHAHA.

bobinfaith BUDDY......

ARE you not HONOURED that I am going to name one of my chocolate cherry tomato plants after you??

That is a very HIGH honour BOB.

I don't have any plants named after Mr. Moose.... or any of the snails.... JUST YOU... get this special treatment.

Frannie wants me to name one of my celery plants Mr. Moosey Pants... I am still deliberating on that one. :D

Yes, yes, I'm honored, so later I'll be in someone's salad.

🤜 😎 lol!
