Journal The Cabin

Morty looks like he could be quite bossy .....especially at feeding time.
Morty is the SWEETEST little soul.... He is like the couch hippo... but he sleeps all day... and the ladies just love him.
There was some sort of mistake because he is a Chihuahua and he does not bark.

Good afternoon my precious forum family.... OH gosh.... I feel so badly for neglecting the CABIN.... WHO KNEW I was going to become a working gal at 62 years old. HA.

Anyways.... I am just meal prepping today and it's sleep-over night at Margaret's house.... which means... I get to sleep with Mr. Louie tonight.
I find it so comical that when I am NOT there... Louie is not allowed on the couch and he sleeps in his dog bed.... WHEN I am there... he is allowed on the couch and he sleeps in my bed. HAHA.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week-end. I love you all. I will eventually get back here.... Y'all just have to be patient with DA SHEEP.

Ok..... so... I am really tired... and feeling like there are not enough hours in the day to get things done that I need to get done..... SO.... I am going to take a few days to QUIET my soul and REST. I am off of work until Tuesday... so I have the next few days to do some make a-head meals ( which is so super wonderful after a day's work ).
Margaret is coming to pick me up in 2 hours for a nice supper at a restaurant and then a movie at her house.

Mr. Moose.... You are in charge of the CABIN..... Please remember to DO THE DISHES this time.

My cousin, Bubba, likes peanutbutter and chocolate too.

Maybe Bubba should cut back some on the sugar.

WHO KNEW??? I'm looking around at all the different options and you can actually pick a font.
Tahoma is actually my favourite font.... BY GOLLY... You learn something new... everyday... or in my case...
two years after joining. HA.

I spent the morning with my boyfriend Haggis ( the giant golden doodle ) who I usually refer to as "my fellow"
It was exactly what I needed.
I get to go back tomorrow... but in the afternoon.

I'm glad that Halloween is over with. That means all the ugly things are coming down and the pretty things will begin to appear. HA

Back to work Tuesday-Friday. I have one last week of steaming ( I did get a break but last week some new things came in ).
Steaming will be completed for the season once I get this lot done. I should be done by Thursday.

Anyways... a very lovely Sunday it has been. I am nicely resting and re-charging.

thenami ... THANK you for doing the dishes.... and for making a cake. :D

I wish with all my heart I could share some of my whole wheat, peanut butter, chocolate, and stevia (I cant have sugar)
cake with everyone on this site. You can replace the white flour and sugar in any regular recipe, with whole wheat and stevia.
There are many of us with high blood sugar. Mine is controlled completely by my diet since surgery.
For those who can tolerate honey, a tablespoon will make any recipe taste amazing even using stevia.

Hugs love and happiness-

I am one of those that you speak of... and my biggest challenge has been trying to learn what this all means in the actual scientific sense with regards to how foods affect the body.... specifically my body. I think this is the 3rd year since I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes... maybe even the 4th. It has been a SHARP learning curve for me.... so much of this journey has been trial and error... and to be honest... it took over a year for me to even take things seriously.

My diabetes is controlled by medication and diet...as well as exercise. My biggest challenge is exercise in the winter months... and to be honest... I have not walked regularly since I started work in September.

I eat mostly WHOLE foods.
The bulk of what I consume in a day is a ton of fresh veggies.... some fresh fruits ( these are NEVER EVER canned ).... the only frozen vegetables I eat are peas and corn.

I switched my bread to sour dough... and I have yet to play with different types of flour. I did buy some almond flour and attempted to make a bread out of it... but even though it was tolerable.... I'm sorry... it was NOT bread... and so... I have learned to make compromises... and to pick my battles. My bread consumption has gone way down... so I will basically go through 4 slices in a week ( 2 of those being a sandwich ).

My oils/fats are limited only to Extra Virgin Olive Oil ( I buy good quality ).... butter... and lard.... that's it.
I use a lot of fresh herbs for my cooking and my cupboard is full of a plethora of spices. These are all freebies for FLAVOUR BOMBS in cooking.
Vinegar is also another trick/tool for adding FREE flavour. There are so many beautiful vinegars out there... oh my goodness.. they truly bring food to another level... both as a dressing for raw vegetables as well as in actual cooking.

It helps that I love cooking... and that I refuse to eat out... I am stuck eating my own food. HA.

Balance is the key.... I do not feel badly for consuming the odd "dessert" because I don't consume a lot of sugar. The hardest part to learn was that other things convert to sugar in your body when they break down.

Because I eat so many fresh vegetables... that has been my answer to having bigger portions.

My challenge... moving forward... these next 6 months of winter and very cold weather will be maintaining my weight.

We have ourselves to care for first, before we can do anything else :) May you keep learning! Sounds like you are in a good place.
My diet consists of very few vegetables, and no fruit. That way I can have carbs like cream of wheat, or pasta with a meat sauce.
Protein is a big thing for me post-surgery. I eat rice and beans, chicken, beef, eggs, nuts, and fish. My cheats are turkey bacon, or a hot dog.
That cake I make sure is a solid breakfast choice when I add protein powder to it. It feels good to have a sweet treat that is healthy.
With my stomach small, I dont have room for much. Therefore, my protein choices really matter to try to get 60 grams a day.
I add protein powder to things like scrambled eggs, I make shakes, and I eat protein bars regularly.

We are all different, and I am still learning too. Its difficult not to eat salad, or fruit. So far Im keeping my A1C low enough without medication.

It's PUZZLE WEATHER and SWEATER WEATHER. BRRRRRRRRRRR.

My neighbour built me my own puzzle board and it is ever cool. He made it so that it can tilt to a 45 degree angle.. so in essence... I have my own architect table... made of wood. He painted it white at my request and I am about to pour out my first puzzle. This is going to be a different season for me as I am now working... however... once the next few weeks are over... my time at the store will be according to the days I am hired to work. All this time there has been simply learning the ropes.

So.... I present to you.... a REPEAT puzzle that I did. This was actually the FIRST Ravensburger I ever did... and then I became a puzzle snob. HA. Bob is going to be so impressed that his name is on my puzzle.
