The Horrifical Reality about TikTok

Ok, this is a little complicated.

Some people, the majority being women, post provocative short videos on Tik Tok or from Tik Tok to Instagram. These folks are known as "Content Creators". In the videos, they invite the viewer to "follow" them. Once someone hits the "follow" icon, they are asked to subscribe to their "OnlyFans" page. Onlyfans is also kind of like Tik Tok; however, you have to pay to watch those videos and many of those are "home-made" porn.

"Content creators with a small combined following on social media (approx. 5,000 followers) could earn between $749 and $3,747 per month. Top OnlyFans creators like miss_swedish_bella earn around $10,000 a month on average."
oh I get it now...

thats like me subscribing to a meal/menu planning channel, only to find some people are cooking with full fat chocolatešŸ˜¬

Sky TV had or used to have Porn channels, like who adult channels dedicated to porn.

They put child locks on them and passwords but I'm sure children still manage to access them (whether accidentally or not) . It's not just tik tok, its on tv.

Manga also can be quite graphic, even though the covers can seem like they are for children.
A lot of them do have a rating on the back, like movies do though. I think all movies are requred to have them (G, R13, R18) etc.

In the olden days, when we had video rental shops (?!) the adults section was separate, I think they had them behind a curtain or something. But it doesn't mean those underage never saw them. Adults would leave them lying around.

Video games are more violent though, and I'm sure lots of parents just don't bother to check what their children are playing and watching.
They can also access other players online and hook up with them, and you never know how old they are.

Xbox
no thats a video game console..but you can access porn on it if you an adult.
Sky has playboy bunny channel.

I'm just saying this is nothing new. I saw a lot of adult material in the library when I was working in public but most of it was borrowed by adults. However we can't police that at home.
I did check ratings for movies before lending them out to young people though. We had filters on computers but they don't block everything and if children really want to see something they can figure out a proxy.

Since I now work in a school library I don't have much adult material. Children aren't interested. The only controversial book I have is probably the 'Where do I come from' book. Yes some have pictures of naked babies in it. I think I saw one art book that had a nude, but I withdrew that, something children aren't interested in. Some get offended at some pictures, like there has been a rash of bum books. But they are meant to be funny.

I think in high school you need to be a bit more careful as adolescents are developing at different rates as to what reading material they are ready for. They may look adult, but their brains are still really immature.
