Which operating system do you use, and why?

Hello all,
I am curious as to which operating system everyone uses here. For me, I personally use Linux Mint 20.10. Why? I use it because everything works out of the box and it is virus free. Please...let's discuss!
I use Linux Ubuntu for pretty much the same reasons that you do. I've also found Linux to be faster than other OS.

I was using Mint since believe Mint 8, and currently running something called robo linux, but also have seceral other Linux distro, as dual booted with Windows 10!

I have Linux Mint on a Dell with 16 GB Ram, 1 TB Crucial SSD, and an Intel I7 CPU. But my daily driver is a new Chromebook so I can use all my Android apps. And I am looking into using Linux on it as well.

Hello everyone;

I was encouraged to learn in this post that Linux is alive and well. There is another Operating System called Unix.

When I was struggling with MS back in 2000 to 2016 I had a lot of issues with viruses. I had heard of Linux and Unix (always got mixed up with both,) but they were good operating systems and hard to hack.

We switched over to
Apple in 2017, while the Apply guy helped us put together our new computer package. We have been pretty happy, except that my 27" thunderbolt monitor was discontinued from 2012 yet Apple sold it to us brand new. The same with the hard drive in the mac midi. It was from 2012 and also sold brand new.

This year we replaced the original hard drive with a solid state hard drive and what a difference in speed!

My 27" monitor also died this year. I learned it was not the monitor but a bad (pinched) power cable. So I contacted Apple and after making an appointment I took it in today and the tech guy said they can replace the power cable and have it ready in a few days.

Until I decide on a new computer we'll stick with Apple awhile longer.

Back to
Linux. How does those who have a Linux rate their performance, and does it include apps comparable to MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc...??

God bless
you all and thank you.

I came over to Linux from Microsoft XP about 15 years years ago, and I've never regretted it. Linux is faster, cleaner, and more secure than any other OS. Open source free software is available for most applications that are available on Microsoft and Apple.

The best selling points for Linux is thnat its Open Source, so has literally thousands of free programs available, and there is plenthy of community support! Also, is much easier to run on older computers, has not nearly as much needed to operate it as windows and Apple software requires!

Linux is much better overall, as much less bloated and easier to run and operate , but there are still some programs much better on windows, such as image/photoshops, and Apple still better for graphics for business!
