Hello everyone;
I was encouraged to learn in this post that Linux is alive and well. There is another Operating System called Unix.
When I was struggling with MS back in 2000 to 2016 I had a lot of issues with viruses. I had heard of Linux and Unix (always got mixed up with both,) but they were good operating systems and hard to hack.
We switched over to Apple in 2017, while the Apply guy helped us put together our new computer package. We have been pretty happy, except that my 27" thunderbolt monitor was discontinued from 2012 yet Apple sold it to us brand new. The same with the hard drive in the mac midi. It was from 2012 and also sold brand new.
This year we replaced the original hard drive with a solid state hard drive and what a difference in speed!
My 27" monitor also died this year. I learned it was not the monitor but a bad (pinched) power cable. So I contacted Apple and after making an appointment I took it in today and the tech guy said they can replace the power cable and have it ready in a few days.
Until I decide on a new computer we'll stick with Apple awhile longer.
Back to Linux. How does those who have a Linux rate their performance, and does it include apps comparable to MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc...??
God bless you all and thank you.
