Jesus Loved Prostitutes!

It's so true that it happens on a daily basis in our churches. Too many people judge whether they know they're doing it or not. We can feel tensions in the air and sometimes those people who we "stay away" from feel that negativeness, and feel preyed upon. Why should they stay if that's what they continue to feel?

Who are we to judge anyway? God is the only righteous Judge, so we shouldn't be the ones looking at somebody as if we haven't sinned at all - because we do sin. No sin is greater than the others. <--- I think I read that somewhere in the Bible, I just don't remember where.

Great post! I look forward to your next blog!

The Bible doesn't say one sin is no worse than another. It says the wages of sin, regardless of how big or little is death. It says less than perfect can't enter heaven. Of course I am paraphrasing. But the point is the law was created to condemn us, ...doesn't matter how insignificant we think our sin is, it still precludes us from eternal, just as much as the worst sinner we can think of. Therefore, we should not judge as we are in the same sinking ship without Jesus. :)

About judging....we are most certainly supposed to judge, rtight from wrong, byt not a persons soul or eternal fate. Eze 3

This is a sore spot with me as the unsaved World likes tyo try and throw that statement, "You're a Christian! You're not supposed to judge!" in our faces to shut us up. Well, that doesn't fly with me. We are supposed to judge a pe4rson's behavior whether right or wrong according to God's Word and if we don't speak out against evil, God will hiold us accountable for our negligence.

Excuse me, but the Scriptures are clear we are to appeal to people to change the sinful ways and turn to God....doesn't matter that we are sinners too.

If a man is cheating on his spouse, is it judging to tell him he is doing wrong and should stop. Or is it an act of caring for his soul and his family? Is it Okay for him to cheat because, may you did the same thing once? Do you have to support his decision to cheat because you did it? Romans 7

The jerk probably won't stop, but at least you will have a clear conscience. And if he's your best friend and hates you for telling him he's doing wrong and never wants to speak to you again (altho that's more of a woman thing) who cares?

This wishy-washy christianity that says we aren't to correwct bad behavior is nonesense and ends up hurting innocent people. It also hinders a person from bettering himself.

1 Corinthians 6:2-4 - "Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, appoint as judges even men of little account in the church!" (NIV)

We are not to judge in such a way that we set ourselves up as more righteous than another, but we certainly are to judge right from wrong, and to warn those who are doing wrong.

Yes, well, I think I should have stated my post a little more clear. Sorry!
Of course we are to judge right from wrong. I just meant not to judge a person's soul.

I agree with what you guys are saying. My whole point of the article was to make sure that they are loved and not avoided. If we avoid people because of their actions then they have zero chance to find God.

One does need to use common sense as well. We are judged by the company we keep, and we have a responsibility to avoid the appearance of sin as well as sin itself.

I have never to the best of my knowledge associated with a prostitute, but I have befriended stripers, alcoholics and drug addicts.

When I first moved here no one knew me. I was housing a recovering alcoholic. This woman disappeared one evening and I found her in the bar drunk. I sat with her and quietly convinced her it was time to go home.

To make a long story short I heard later people thought I was out with her trying to "get laid". This was terribly upsetting for me as i learned a long time ago people believe what they want regardless of whether there is any basis for that belief or not. And NOTHING you say will change their minds... denying false accusations only strengthens their convictions against you.

I have lived here for about a year and a half, and feel confident people think well of me now. But just one misunderstood incident was enough to ruin my reputation and only lots of time and "above reproach' behavior has redeemed my reputation.

And that's the problem with society today. People only see and not "perceive" for what a situation really is. It's a sad truth. However, I can't ignore what you stated about common sense. We are not perfect like Jesus Christ, and what he did was truly a miracle for us all. How do we befriend our neighboring sinners in effort to help them (if they want it) if that effort is judged the wrong way? It goes back to the saying a Christians' life is not an easy one. We can't let other people refrain us from doing what we are supposed to just because of what they think they "see". It's like a vicious cycle.

Ginger, your post reminds me of a story I heard once - not sure whether it was true or a joke. The town gossip, an elderly spinster, saw an old bloke's car parked outside of the pub, and spread the rumour around town that he had been in there getting drunk. The old bloke didn't say anything, but the next night he parked his car outside her house, and left it there for the whole night!

Jesus tells us ..
Luk 17:3 "Be on your guard! If your brother sins, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.

How can you say you love someone, if you let them go on sinning against God and do not even try to help them ???

Mat 7:1 "Do not judge so that you will not be judged.
Mat 7:2 "For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you.

Most people read only verse 1 and not verse 2 .. this is WHY they think we are not to judge others .. also non-believers love to quote verse 1, so Christians do not tell them they are sinning .. John the Baptist and the Apostles made it quite clear to people WHAT sin is, and to Make Straight His Way ..
Verse 2 .. says: IN THE WAY YOU JUDGE ..
also verse 1 only applies to those who have not yet removed the beam from their own eye so they CAN remove the one from their brothers eye ..

Jhn 7:24 "Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment."

judging words and deeds righteously is done by using "God's will" which is in His word ..

once again people only read verse 4 and not verse 5 .. which tells us HOW ..

Mat 7:4 "Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye?
Mat 7:5 "You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.

Again we see that we are told when we judge, we are not to be also guilty of that in which we judge ..

Pro 10:17 He is on the path of life who heeds instruction, But he who ignores reproof goes astray.
Pro 13:1 A wise son accepts his father's discipline, But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.
Pro 15:31 He whose ear listens to the life-giving reproof Will dwell among the wise.
Ecc 7:5 It is better to listen to the rebuke of a wise man Than for one to listen to the song of fools.

it works like this ..
we preach to ALL what sin is, and that God's will for us is NOT to sin ..

when one is a believer, we have the authority to rebuke them in love and patience (2Ti 4:2) .. (in hopes they recognize God's will)

if they refuse to be compliant with God, then we have the authority to rebuke them before all (1Ti 5:20) .. (in hopes they recognize God's will)

but if they if they still refuse to be compliant with God, then we have the authority to put them outside of the church (1Cr 5:13) .. to which they are judged as any other unbeliever ..

John 7 v 24...Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgement. You can judge people in error with scripture which the Lord spoke of

John 7 v 24...Judge not according to appearance, but judge righteous judgement. You can judge people in error with scripture which the Lord spoke of

how so ???
have you not read that by 2 or 3 witnesses all things are confirmed ???

this is WHY presbyteros (elders) were appointed to the Church ..

those that may twist scripture to make an erroneous judgement, are they themselves subject to the judgement of other Christians ..

There are a few Christians i am friends with on FB that share posts from a group called "hookers for Jesus"--- they are reformed prostitutes who post things about Jesus and scripture but it is really gross and inappropriate! Why are they calling themselves hookers still? I do not get it.

interesting enough, we are given an example of 2 or 3 false teachers (who also were believing Pharisees)(Act 15:1, Act 15:5) judging Paul's words as false, for refuting their assertion that imputing circumcision of the law of Moses was mandatory for salvation (Act 15:2) ..

Act 15:6 And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.

so once all were given a chance to speak (Act 15:7) .. Peter (Act 15:9-11) and James (Act 15:13-19) both confirmed Paul was correct ..

note: James did not supersede Peter (notice the matter was settled by Peter as all became silent, and Paul then changed the subject Act 15:12) but James added his witness to Peter's, (as is prescribed by God) as well as making sure those believing Pharisees from his church of Jerusalem, understood it was the position of the Church of Jerusalem as well ..

I agree .. to not say EX-hookers or EX-sinners can be very misleading to the untrained in God's word .. and do harm ..

Rom 6:16 Do you not know that when you present yourselves to someone as slaves for obedience, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness?
Rom 6:22 But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life.
Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1Cr 10:21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the table of the Lord and the table of demons.
