Satan

It is very biblical. I am amazed that you would serve a God that you believe is on par with the devil. God tells us to love our enemies...because He hates His? Really....? God does not need to hate you for you to be accountable....what is going through your mind to make such a statement?

God does not hate the devil any more then he hated Paul for murdering....or you for your past sin. Have you never read the context on Jacob and Esau? http://www.gotquestions.org/Jacob-Esau-love-hate.html

Do you really think that God expects us to love the devil ? Brother you might want to rethink this statement here. You are taking love our enemies out of context here...

If I may play devil's advocate for a moment (har har), while our devotion and time is always best spent on Christ, I think discerning and considering the enemy, how he works, and how he can be avoided, is also beneficial for the glory of God, so long as it isn't done in any twisted fascination with Satan.
I think your statement is certainly fair.. But the point I would raise is, where we do seek the discernment from? Holy Spirit or our own efforts to study satan? We should bank on the truth that discernment can be given only through Holy Spirit..

Not at all. I am thinking perfectly fine. The devil is not our enemy? Do you think God wants us to hate Him? What do we gain from calling him stupid, wanting to torture him, eye for an eye = hate... etc etc? Loving the enemy is not accepting the enemy. This is a language blunder that is simply embarrassing for a Christian to make.

Chrstians do not hate any enemy. We hate what the devil does. God loved us when we were His enemies.

May be I am wrong. But Lord's commandments are quite simple.. Love Lord with all our heart.. Love our neighbors as we love ourselves.. He never mentioned anything about angels - good ones or fallen ones.. Instead of love or hate, we should simply resist him.. Have nothing to do with him..

Not at all. It is the heart God wants us to have to enemies, because it is God's heart to His enemies.

Does God tolerating the devil on more then one occasion in the wilderness point toward hate or love? Does God casting demons into pigs, when He loves pigs, point toward love or hate for the demons?

God HATES sin. God LOVES all of His creation. SIN seperates Him from His creation. God did not decide to create the devil....because He hates Him. There is NO darkness / evil in God 1 John 1:5.

The devil, hates his enemy, God. So when we insinuate God hates the devil.....well we are putting God in the same shoes as the devil. How are we not??? We may as well confess to all that we HATE Nero....our greatest enemy. You know, the guy that killed us off like...Paul.

I pity Satan. He has caused an immense amount of misery in the world, but that only reflects the hate and misery he endures.
Think of being the brightest of God's creations, only to be brought to ruin by stupid pride.
He dug his own grave, now he has to live in it.

I agree with that. But I am jumping on the heads of those who make the effort to curse the devil. It is unChristian to walk around saying we hate Nero, we hate Saddam, we hate ISIS, we hate the devil. ''Stupid devil made me do it''....well that stupid devil was once the covering cherub. As Paul says ''there go I but by the grace of God''.

Hating our enemy brings out the carnality in our 'Christianity'.

We need to all be reminded of 1 Pet 4:18 And also, "If the righteous are barely saved, what will happen to godless sinners?"

There are going to many that just make it into heaven. To assume there is an ocean of HATE vs LOVE between them from God is ridiculous.

Well just today Satan was putting thoughts in my head I didn't like so I called him a trickster after rebuking him. Excuse the language on this forum but I've never cursed Satan like that before, he just really ticked me off.
Why sir....I am shocked beyond telling..:ROFLMAO:

Brother you err. In your err are you trying to shed light on satan? I do not understand your defense of the God you professes enemy. Paul was ignorant to who Jesus was until the road to Damascus and He repented and believed the gospel. Do you think satan did the same? Yes I said God hates doers of iniquity .... Why because God said He did and I believe Him
  • Psalm 5:5, "The boastful shall not stand before Thine eyes; Thou dost hate all who do iniquity,"
  • Psalm 11:5, "The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked, and the one who loves violence His soul hates."
  • Lev. 20:23, "Moreover, you shall not follow the customs of the nation which I shall drive out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I have abhorred them."
  • Prov. 6:16-19, "There are six things which the Lord hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: 17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil, 19 A false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers."
  • Hosea 9:15, "All their evil is at Gilgal; indeed, I came to hate them there! Because of the wickedness of their deeds I will drive them out of My house! I will love them no more; All their princes are rebels."
Yes God is a loving God but He is a just God too .....No time do any of His attributes compromise one another

Does Satan know he is evil?
John 8:44
Ye [the Pharisees & others] are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

so I called him a trickster after rebuking him
The appropriate rebuke is "get thee behind me Satan, in the name of Jesus."
Bad language has no power over Satan.
And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. Acts 19: 15-16

Didn't say it had any power over him. Just stated I said it to him

Be careful. Do NOT NOT NOT study him. Only know that he's evil and leave it at that. Even Jesus' own interactions with him involved only quoting scripture to him. Study the Holy Spirit and get close to Him, He'll show you all truth:

1 John 2:27 (KJV)
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Now I can see why the youth director didn't want to talk about the Devil. The consensus here seems to be that the Devil is a narcissistic sociopath, who is aware of what he is and what he is doing.

God does not hate the wicked / sinners. He died for them. Granted Paul repented, but Jesus died for those that did not repent too. Unless you are a Calvinist belieiving the 'whomsoevers' throughout scripture is believers only.

Anyway, here is a good article on 'God hating sinners'.

One of the most plausible solutions is that the Bible writers are using a figure of speech called metonymy when they write that God hates sinners. Metonymy is defined as: “A figure by which one name or noun is used instead of another, to which it stands in a certain relation” (Bullinger, 1898, p. 538). Bullinger further explains that metonymy can be “of cause,” when the person acting can be put in place of the thing that is done (p. 539). For instance, in Luke 16:29, the text says: “They have Moses and the prophets, let them hear them.” In reality, they did not have “Moses” or the “prophets,” but they did have their writings. The name Moses is a metonymy that stood for his writings, since he was the cause of the writings. In modern times, that would be like saying, “I hate Shakespeare.” Would the person who said that mean that he hated Shakespeare’s personality? No. We understand he would be saying he does not like the writings of Shakespeare, with no comment on the playwright’s personality.

If we apply that same figure of speech to the passages about God “hating sinners,” we can see that the sinner is put in place of the sin. Thus, when God says He hates “a false witness who speaks lies” (Proverbs 6:19), if metonymy is being used, then God hates the lies, and the one who is doing the lying (the cause) is put in place of the lies (the effect). It is interesting to see how clear this feature can be in other contexts. For instance, Proverbs 6:17 says that God hates “a lying tongue.” Does that mean that God hates a physical tongue, made of muscle and body tissue? No. It means God hates the sin that a tongue can perform. In the same context, we learn that God hates “feet that are swift in running to evil” (6:18). Again, does that mean that God hates physical feet? No. It simply means that God hates the sin that those feet can perform. It is interesting that while few, if any, would suggest that God hates physical tongues or actual feet, they would insist that God hates actual sinners and not the sin done by them.

When studying the Bible, it is very important to keep in mind that the Bible writers often used figures of speech. When we look at the idea that God hates sin, but loves sinners, the figure of speech known as metonymy clears up the confusion. Just as God does not hate physical feet or tongues, He does not hate sinners. These nouns are put in the place of the things they cause—sin.

No, God. Satan hates God, nothing to learn there. Suggesting God.....hates satan....just like satan hates God....well that is an absolute joke / mockery of God and all of scripture. This is quite a serious accusation of God. Please try grasp that.

God being 'just' has NOTHING to do with God hating sinners.

Satan is aware of himself. He's aware of who he is, what he was, and what he is doing. In fact, he isn't just aware of what he is doing, but he is good at it.

Satan is not the opposite of God (St. Michael the archangel is the opposite of Satan). God is the source of goodness and love. Satan is not the inventor of evil and fear and hate, but he resides within these things and uses them as his tools (along with lying).

Satan is aware of what is good and loving. He knew it first-hand. In fact, that's one of the reasons why he is so cunning in keeping souls aware from God. Groups like ISIS believe they are acting devoutly in the name of Allah, and to them, Allah is the source of all that is true. The teaching of Islam, they believe, is all that is good. They are indirectly committing acts of tremendous evil. Satan, however, only commits evil in a very direct way -- he knows precisely that what he is doing is wrong. He does not believe that he is doing God's work, he doesn't believe he is doing anything for the good of mankind -- he despises mankind. He couldn't stand the idea of serving God through service to man -- he believed he has always been above that.

ISIS's fault is falling for lies while Satan is the one actually spreading lies.

Thank you, very much.

Never said God hates satan as satan hates God.... God is holy and satan is not. God can hate and does but it does not compromise His holiness
You used a scripture about loving your enemies.... when Jesus spoke this He was referring to personal relationships. It had nothing to do with God dealing with satan.
Take your time and read what is leading up to that line and what follows ...... Pray first

Psalm 5:5, "The boastful shall not stand before Thine eyes; Thou dost hate all who do iniquity,"
Who is it that hates iniquity?
Psalm 11:5, "The Lord tests the righteous and the wicked, and the one who loves violence His soul hates."
Who s soul hates?
Lev 20:23
, "Moreover, you shall not follow the customs of the nation which I shall drive out before you, for they did all these things, and therefore I have abhorred them." (abhor=regard with disgust and hatred.)

Prov 6:16-19, "There are six things which the Lord hates, yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: 17 Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18 A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that run rapidly to evil, 19 A false witness who utters lies, and one who spreads strife among brothers."
Geese I highlighted the one just because it is so descriptive of satan

Hosea 9:15, "All their evil is at Gilgal; indeed, I came to hate them there! Because of the wickedness of their deeds I will drive them out of My house! I will love them no more; All their princes are rebels."

Do you think God hates satan? This very scripture says He hate them because of their wickedness.......... who do you think the author of this wickedness is?

Revelation 20:10
10 And the devil who deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and a]">[a]brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are also; and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

Is this a display of love thy enemy?

Luke 22:3-4

3 And Satan entered into Judas who was called Iscariot, a]">[a]belonging to the number of the twelve. 4 And he went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers how he might betray Him to them.
Who entered Judas to destroy Jesus?

John 15:23

23 He who hates Me hates My Father also.

You deny God hates those that do iniquity but yet He says it throughout His word and you do not believe it
Then attempt to admonish me for holding to His word. God has already determined the fate of satan Revelation 20:10
Brother I wish you the best I would suggest you study God's attributes His love His holiness and His righteousness/justice. God does hate sin He also hates those that do it and short of the grace of Jesus we would get what we deserve not because God changed but because the blood of His Son atone for those sins. If God did not hate those that do those sins then Jesus had no reason atone for them.

God loves the sinner, yet at the same time he "hates" sin, and those who sin. Perfect hatred does not have any evil intent associated with it.

Jude 1:22 And have mercy on those who doubt;
Jude 1:23 save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh.

We too are to love and have mercy on those who sin, yet at the same time "hate" their sin, and those who sin.
Only the "love of God" in us can do these things.
Mercy triumphs over judgement.

I think your statement is certainly fair.. But the point I would raise is, where we do seek the discernment from? Holy Spirit or our own efforts to study satan? We should bank on the truth that discernment can be given only through Holy Spirit..

Exactly and this id done By PRAYER and reading His word with His understanding and not ours !!
