Hello Every one,
There seems to always be this debate over things such as sickness and healing and God is or is not in Control of Everything. Why does bad things happen to good people and God uses sickness and suffering to teach us things or God uses the devil or allows the devil to attack a Christian to instruct them and such.
Well in this post I intend to shed some LIGHT and TRUTH concerning all these statements. So if you have Ears To Hear.....Let Them Hear !!

To start with I want to ask is God really in control of everything here in this earth ? To say God is in total control of everything one must say He is in Control of you and me. So if He is in control of you then when you lost your temper and told off the driver that cut you off was The Will Of God because God is in Control......How about the murdering rapist on the lose, if God is in control then this man is doing what God wills and so why get upset or try to capture him to be punished. Wouldn't this be going against God's will ?

There is a lot of evil lose in this world. Is God really in control of this ? Lots of people are dying from sicknesses, so then is this Gods will for them? People say you never know what God is going to do. We do not understand why God does things but he put this sickness on me to humble me and teach me something...No friends...the devil is trying to kill, steal and destroy you and keep you from ever walking in the Blessing of God. We chose and allow this to happen.........Now then lets see what the written word of God has to say about these things........

Lets first look in Deuteronomy 30:10-20 KJV
10.....is telling us if we will keep His commandments and walk in His ways and turn to or trust in the Lord thy God with all of your heart and soul.
11-13...is stating that this commandment which He is giving us this day is NOT hidden from thee, nor do you have to go up to heaven to bring it down to hear it nor is it beyond the sea that you have to go get it.

Now 14 is where it gets GOOD !! ; )
14.....But thy word is very NIGH unto thee, In Thy Mouth, and in Thy Heart that thou mayest do it.
His word has been placed all around you. Media and books and churches and Bibles so there is no excuse not to know it.
This is telling us especially for today that His word needs to be in our minds, our hearts and mouth. Why mouth ? Because speaking Gods words bring God results...He is moved by His word and when He is moved by His word He see's to it that it is carried out. BUT it must be DONE IN FAITH !!

Here we go now
15.....SEE I HAVE SET BEFORE THEE THIS DAY LIFE AND GOOD AND DEATH AND EVIL.
16.....In that I COMMAND thee THIS DAY to LOVE the Lord thy God, TO WALK in His Ways, and to KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS and His STATUTES and His JUDGMENTS that THOU MAYEST LIVE And Multiply and thee Lord thy God Shall BLESS Thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

So in these two verses we see several key things.
1...God gives US the CHOICE TO CHOOSE Life and Blessing or Death and Cursing or evil. We choose....Not God BUT we choose...
2...Now in verse 16 we see that GOD is telling us Pick His Way. He says IF YOU CHOOSE TO WALK MY WAY FOLLOW MY COMMAND.....this good life will be yours....
3...So in this Good Life we find several things....First we must make the choice to choose this life....Second which is just as important.....We MUST Choose To Walk This Life His Way Every Single Day Of Our Life in Order to stay in The Good Life of Blessing and protection and every other good thing that is included in Thee Blessing Of Thee Lord.

17...Now here is the flip side...the disobedient side....the side where you do not follow His commands such as walking in Love and Forgiveness and Living by Faith 24-7-365. You Step out side of His blessing. Remember verse 14 told us His Word is in Our Mouth and Heart so this says SPEAKING His word By and In and Through FAITH is also a commandment......or REQUIREMENT .

17......But if thine heart turn away, so that thou will NOT Hear, but be drawn away and worship other gods and serve them.
......Now remember a few things here. Heart turn away.....resist doing His word. Not allowing His word to take root. Not hearing.....again not giving His word a second thought so as to give it time to root in your heart. Be drawn away and to worship other gods.....This is as simple as walking in the flesh.....doing things your way or the way of the world. Giving something else leadership in your actions or believe over God.

18 tells us if we do not choose His way then.........I denounce unto you this day that thee shall surely perish, (( SEE THIS PLEASE )) AND that ye shall NOT PROLONG YOUR DAYS UPON the land, wither thou passest over Jorden to go to posses it.
Seems we can shorten or lengthen our lives here on this earth.... When you violate how God said to walk, live, think, speak, act and feed the body, or soul or spirit man you can shorten your life. We can Live the 120 years allotted to man found in Gen, 6:3 BUT you have got to be walking in the Blessing of the Lord which means, living, talking, believing acting on Gods word 24-7-365.

19 tells us simply this WE ARE WITH OUT EXCUSE.......
I call Heaven and earth to record this day AGAINST YOU, That I HAVE SET BEFORE YOU, LIFE AND DEATH, BLESSING AND CURSING; THEREFORE Choose Life , that both thou and thy seed may live.......
.....again God not only has left this choice up to us....He called Heaven and earth to record this day.....so we have no excuse......God even goes a step further......if for some reason you are still not sure which is better...Blessing or cursing....He tells us MAN....CHOOSE LIFE.....CHOOSE BLESSING....

20.. tells us please pick life and blessing so we can have this.....
That thou mayest Love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey His voice , and that thou mayest cleave unto Him; For He Is Thy Life, and the length of thy days; that thou mayest dwell in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

Now then I had wanted to get further into the curses but this is getting long and some do not have the patience to read very much at one time so.
I suggest that you read chapter 28 of Deuteronomy and check out all the things mentioned in this curse. Every thing you see going on in this earth today you can find it recorded under the curse or UNDER THE CHOICE OF NOT CHOOSING GODS WAY.

We know that through Christ Jesus we have been redeemed from the curse of the law..... So as a born again Believer it once again falls on OUR CHOICE to live by Faith and according to His very word. When we as Christians fail to do so and step out side of the Blessing is when we find Christians walking a defeated life. Sickness ? We are redeemed from the curse of sickness and disease. Poverty ? We are redeemed from the curse of poverty. However it is up to us to activate this or release this in our own lives. How? By knowing His word and living each day by His word and using His word and doing His word. WE have to know who we are in Christ and what authority is ours and recognise when the devil is simply trying to kill, steal and destroy.

Also Psalm 115:16 KJV
The Heaven, even the Heavens, are the LORDS, BUT the earth hath He given to the children of men.
In Heaven God is in Total Control. That is why there is No Crime, Poverty, Sickness, or any other evil thing.
Now here on earth there is evil ruining rampant.........Remember God has Given Man The Choice.......Choose His way and Blessing and Life will follow OR do it your own way with out God and you will have cursing and death.

God decided to give man free will so when God decided to do this, well it became a good thing so man has Free Will. Man makes their own choice to follow God or Not to.....Now man is not sovereign unto himself. What does this mean ? It means man needs a spiritual overlord. What does that mean ?
It means that there is NO such thing as the devils thoughts and Gods thoughts and there are MY thoughts.. No this is simply not the way it works.

Man is getting his thoughts or influenced either by Godly thinking through a renewed mind and heart and the Holy spirit and so forth OR man is getting his thoughts influenced by the devil and when this is true the devil will lead you down the road of destruction, one thought at a time. When a Christian is not functioning with in the word of God he is carnal minded and a man who is not born again is simply a natural man. A carnal minded man can not truly operate in Faith. This limits his results and is NOT the fault of God.

Last thing.......Scripture tells us to take captive every thought......
Ever wonder why ? Now you know......
Scripture tells us Take No Thought Saying.....understand this......How do you take a thought ? You Say that thought....so that is speaking a thought and giving it words......Why would scripture tell us this ? Because Words are as a power activating force working either as a blessing or cursing or Positively or Negatively.

This is why the devil wants your words.....This is why the devil whispers or taunts you with thoughts and suggestions. He is haunting you, tormenting you into allowing him right to kill, steal and destroy. That is why the devil was trying so hard to get Job to curse God and die. The devil knew if Job did this then the blessing ( hedge) would be lifted and the devil could kill, steal and destroy this blessing and job...Now when scripture talks about how job did not sin and blameless ........it is referring to this one point...Job did not curse God....... However job through his worry and words or fear and doubt took his eyes off of God and unto the fear and worry that the devil had been haunting job with......

Job bit it, swallowed the lies, hook, line and sinker. Job began to operate in his fear for his children and worry and aloud his words to turn from Godly words full of blessing unto fearful words and doubting words and this removed him from the protection of the blessing (hedge). So job ended up giving the devil a way in and GOD only set a limit to satan and NEVER gave satan permission for anything......

People including Christians make bad choices and bad choices have bad results.

Thank You For taking the time to read this.
Have a very Blessed Week
Jim

Jim, thanks for sharing. It took me several days to read and absorb the wealth of info. I have been saved for over three decades so in a way I based my opinion on my personal experience in walking with Christ and what I observed around he world and people we know. There is no argument in " disobey God and do bad thing- you will fall ". There so much news that illustrate the consequence of lust and greed as written in the book of Proverbs. But regarding to the " Obey God and you are blessed", these I can not entirely agree. In general, faithful servants will be rewarded but may not be in this life. There are just too many sad stories of good people doing God's work got killed in the most hideous way possible. My explanation to myself is that their reward is not on this world. The next life will be so beautiful that whatever we endure in this life can not be compare to it. I would think a lot of God's servants read and trust Psalm 91 when they are in he frontline of spiritual battle or literally a physical battle in the war zones. I just can not reconcile Psalm 91's promise with those who meet the opposite fate.

God loves us on a one-to-one basis, He knows us better than we know ourselves. So many verses as in Luke 12:7, or Psalm 139. I have to believe this by not dwelling too much on the history of mankind when wholesale slaughter happened and is still happening everyday in such large scale - WWI 8.5 millions soldiers killed, WWII 15 millions soldiers & 45 millions civilians killed. So who am I in God's God when so many died for no apparent reason other than some politician's idea of greatness. Will my prayer make any difference ? It is as if God will go ahead to do what is in His plan anyway.

I do not know why these questions continue to bother me, may be I do not have as much faith as others. I pray to God to help me to understand. Or may be I do not need to understand just have to block this off in my brain. My way of dealing suffering is that God is just and fair and will not waste time in making us suffer. He is using adversity to train us to be a better solider. If I think otherwise, I will sink into deep despair.

I hear ya, wwjosh! However, don't you agree that he blessings of the Lord do not equate with reward? Having walked with the Lord Jesus Christ for over 52 years now, I have faced much hardship and rejection, of unbelievers, and even some of my own adult children, as well as kept from my precious little grandchildren, but in the midst of unspeakable sorrow and pain of being undeservedly poorly treated by man, there remains this still, deeply flowing river of faith, peace and joy---the blessing of the Lord that is my/our portion in Jesus Christ.

I have to avoid being stuck into these kind of queries to distant my relationship with God. But I do believe my logic and rationale of my thinking is credible. I resigned to the fact that I may never get a satisfactory answer and will leave it at that. When I heard such thread of sharing, it is hard not to express how I feel. The greatness of God is manifested every day, every minutes in nature. God answered Job's questions not with straight answers but responded with questions to show Job how limited his mind is. I Corinthian 13:12-13 is a good one for me.

Brother you have an identity crisis with God; Who He is and who you are. I know because I've been there and said the EXACT same thing you just did. The answer is easy, but hard to understand. Sin is the only cause for all of this, and yes, God is all powerful, except in one area: freewill. He gave us something most people don't understand: we are made in His image. He can do whatever He wants. That has been given to us. To go against that is to go against Himself. This is why He sent His Son to die for our sins because He had to judge us ALL to hell. No choice. We're ALL sinners. Whereas His justice is absolute, so equally is His love. So the only way to save us ALL was to pay for the freewill Himself.

Think about what you're saying about God: He uses evil to keep us in line so we'll be better people. Hmmm... that makes no sense because that would make God evil. See that's the Greek thinking, the Zeus thinking; that God is standing on a cloud just waiting for someone to mess up and *BAM* no more chances for you! I still struggle with this - I created a thread today on this very thing. Job sinned and this allowed the devil in to do his evil. God didn't allow it, Job did. Sin allows the devil into your live to mess with it. We must surrender to the Lord in great humility to allow Him to search our hearts and find it in us and then we push it out through surrender. Cease from sinning. Yes, it's possible. Jesus paved the way for us. It's a challenge, a race. But today all you hear in "church" is "That's impossible!" which is 100% contrary to the word of God.

What do all these verses have in common: (use the KJV - all the other muddle up the truth I'm pointing out) Genesis 11:6; Proverbs 23:7; Romans 7:25; Romans 12:2; 2 Corinthians 10:5-6; Philippians 4:8; Ephesians 4:22-24?

As like the rest of us, your problem is all in your mind! If you want God's blessings to have to cultivate a relationship, a very personal intimate relationship with God. To do that, you have to cease from sin, 2 Peter 2:14; Hebrews 6:1-2. Sin is already dealt with by Jesus on the cross, and we're dead to sin, so why continue in it, Romans 6:1? See Job admitted this by telling God, I've heard of you, but now I see you! We about God all the time, but VERY VERY VERY few experience God. YOU know you're in need of this experience, so I'm here to tell you, YOU CAN and WILL!! Glory to God brother! Call out and be filled with the Holy Spirit in Jesus' Name! :D

Thank you very much Jim and all the bro and sis in this great forum. May God continue to use you to strengthen others like me. To me this is a life line to hold on to the wagon. As negativity increases in life, these nagging spiritual questions sounds louder and require more determination to hold on to the wagon. I enjoy reading history, especially military history. I found these psalm 144: 1 posters very inspiring. God is training us to be strong with adversities. As soldiers, you follow order to march forward regardless of how you feel or think. In many ways, we are all fellow soldiers covering each other's back.

Jim

Some good words Jim. You have encouraged us all to read and grasp Deuteronomy 28 and the curses and blessings of God. In doing that I would however remind us all that it presents to us first the principle by which God dealt with the nation of Israel.

That principle, summed up in a very few words, is blessings based upon obedience. This is the manner in which God deals with the nation of Israel at this present hour. It is the manner in which God dealt with the nation of Israel when they prepared to cross over Jordan.

I need to make it clear however that this is not the principle upon which God deals with us today. God deals with us today on the principle of grace. Oh yes, there is obedience, but it is obedience accomplished by the discipline of grace.

As the Apostle Paul said in his letter to Titus in 1:15....................
“The grace of God that bringeth salvation to all men hath appeared, teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously and godly in this present evil world.”

If we say that obedience is legalistic then we are forgetting the principle of the discipline of grace. What you cannot do-- because the law is weak through the flesh, you can do because the Holy Spirit resides in your heart and will control your life if you will permit Him to do so.

Notice why I say that the principle on which God dealt with the nation of Israel is blessing through obedience, which is actually agreeing with your comment in chapter 28, verse 1, and we see...............

"And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

28:2
" And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. "

It will help us all to remember that Israel is an earthly people and the blessings of which God spoke are related primarily to the earth. They are not promised Heaven but the Promised LAND. The Church of which you and I are a part of as CHRISTIANS is a heavenly people, and God has guaranteed blessings of a heavenly nature to the Church. That however does not mean that this does not mean there are no earthly blessings. It is still true that God has said in His Word, “No good thing will I withhold from them who walk uprightly,” (Psalms 84:11) but primarily the blessings are spiritual and not material.

God bless you brother and thanks again.

Hi Major,

One question if i may.......given all that you said, what about the fact that we are grafted into the promise that God gave Abraham? We are fellow heirs with Abraham, the Bible says partakers. So if we are heirs, then we are able to receive the blessings of Abraham don't you agree?
Thanks and God bless you in all that you do!

According to Jeremiah 29:11-13, God has great plans for our lives. He loves us so much that He sent His Son just so that we could have a relationship with Him. God does hear your prayers, and He does answer them! You are a very important part of God's plan for this life.

Can i ask if you were in the military and if you saw any of your buddies not come home, thus wondering why you made it back and not them? Kind of feeling guilty for being alive, when they are not?
blessings of peace and joy be yours in abundance!

Major Greetings,
I agree we are under "Grace" However this does not in any way make the what our Creator said in Deuteronomy 30:10-20 null or void. The point of the OP was showing How God is NOT in control of everything that happens to ALL people here in this earth.
The fact that you claim this is not for us today and use grace as an example is very strange to say the least.

Not to mention when you say ((( I need to make it clear however that this is not the principle upon which God deals with us today. God deals with us today on the principle of grace. Oh yes, there is obedience, but it is obedience accomplished by the discipline of grace.)))

Discipline of Grace ? Are you kidding me ? As to your saying that Deuteronomy 30:10-20 was in the way that God dealt with ((Israel when they prepared to cross over Jordan.)) and NOT for us toady because of Grace........

Brother your entire take of this is different. Grace does not stop how God said to live and what to expect BUT it does help us do so.
This entire post was about God not being in total control of everything here on earth.
The examples given show just that. Now then how does your reply fit into that ?

Any way thank you for your view and opinion brother....
Have a blessed week

Well said brother,...with the possible exception of using the phrase "the discipline of Grace" Of course I know what you mean by that but there will be some who can not see it.
The whole problem boils down to if God is in control.
The answer is most emphatically 'YES".
Now consider this: I am not in control, so I am not in a position to promise anybody anything.
As James also taught under the guidance of the Holy Spirit
Jas 4:12 There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy. But who are you to judge your neighbor?
Jas 4:13 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit"—
Jas 4:14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.
Jas 4:15 Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that."
Jas 4:16 As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.

So it is manifestly true, that though we are given some freedom of choice, because the Lord is in absolute control at all times, He is able to instruct us on the consequences of our free choices.

Of course I should have known you would be the next to reply.
So How are things your way brother ?

Now then of course I am going to have to say no Brother this is simply not true for God is NOT in control of EVERYTHING down here on this earth. This is what the OP is about. Down here on this earth....So what have you to say about that ?
Blessings Brother
