Revival.

The thread is about REVIVAL. There was the Pentecostal revival in '06, and the Charismatic outpouring in '64 (or so) was a World Wide revival. so It appears I'm right ON topic. It's up to you to demonstrate WHY the two I mentioned (and possibly others weren't real revivals if you think they were false.
The Holy Spirit would NOT be involved in groups that gave forth to us very bad theology, at times even heretical, and who glossed over any and all important doctrines, based upon now having a common "tongue experience"

This thread is not about whether they were false revivals or not. It's about the framework laid out in post #1.

Yes......However YOU are "forcing" Pentecostal Denominational teaching onto those who do not accept it.

In precisely the way that "Pentehostiles Force" their interpretations on Full Gospel folks. Actually nobody's "FORCING" anything, of course. It's all just discussion.

Unless you pull of your "cessationist glasses", and see the Biblical evidence for it -
John 20:22 = the Holy Spirit INDWELLING, Acts 2:4 = the Holy Spirit UPON those who already were indwelled by Him.

Simple as that.

Word games. A Christian has the Holy Spirit indwelling their spirit. SInce we HAVE NO POWER in and of ourselves, the Power for ministry is an "Enduement" - not an infilling.

Hello Bob;

Then please keep this a peaceful discussion. "Word games" "cessationist glasses"and "Pentehostiles" does not add fruit to this topic.

We have been monitoring the other's posts and haven't seen any sort of cursing or throwing stones. If there is a feeling of being attacked then please address the staff.

Your testimony of 54 years in the Pentecostal church, well my receiving of that is, PRAISE GOD! Please use your many years of discipleship to be a light and seek a common ground in this discussion.

Let's all take a step back, pray and may the Lord bring back peaceful fellowship amongst us.

Thgere does seem to be right now a real revival in the sense of soul getting saved by the Lord in nations such as China and many Muslim nations, but the western form of it as defined under NAR and other groups are not in that real movement!

I was a teaching Elder in the AOG for a decade, so am not hostile to those holding to that theology, be am to those that go into heresy such as promoted by Word of faith and NAR!

Which begs the question, 'Why did you leave?' (If you don't mind me asking.)
I never accepted that there was a second act of grace evidenced by soeaking in other tongues, and see them confusing the refilling of the Holy Spirit with Baptism in the Holy Ghost! Also started to read into what Word of faith teaches, and needed to get totally out of Charismatic chaos of that type! final straw was one became persuaded to changing from being free will Gospel of the AOG to my current view of holding to Covenant Calvinist !
NOT against any still in pentacostal churches, just as long not into WoF, modern Apostle.prophets, or into one must speak in tongues!

Hello YeshuaFan;

You have done a lot in the church. Did you feel this is where God anointed you at the time you taught, and did you experience anointed revivals?

Where are you today?

God bless you, brother and your family.

I felt "called" and gifted to be a teacher, not as a pastor, and saw the "anointing" as just another way of saying that the Holy Spirit Himself will take the words of scriptures and apply them!

5.) I don't know, I've not seen a revival in my lifetime. Persecution will speed it along, and separate the goats from the sheep - always does. That is always when the true Church grows.

That covers exactly the other half of the world. And it is that half that is in extreme decline without any persecution or prevention or hardships, and it's in some serious decline. It's also accepting heresy and every evil without blinking an eye. The new morality, which is not Christian.

At the same time, there is a small measure of conversions to Christianity in places that have experienced some persecution in the middle east, among Muslims in specific. For whatever reason I think this has some meaning - not that I can point my finger on why, but it does.
I find it interesting, that in 8 pages on Revival only you brought up this highly important point. It reminds me of Israel of old, that when their hearts grew fat and complacent towards the things of the Lord, God would send persecution in the form of their enemies (see the Book of Judges) and voila!...revival, as they turned back to the Lord in earnest, crying out for help.
Many say they see a revival coming in America/West. Perhaps, but if so, persecution may very well be in store first, for the Church.

Excellent observation!

The connection between revival and persecution can be very eye opening. I think, IMHO that it is scary because we see in our own western Christian culture, there is strong aversion to persecution.

The Christian culture that is in view today seems to be more interested and embraces victories, miracles, and success above and beyound everything else.

Forget persecution – the Christian culture today in the West, finds it hard to even digest things that are offensive.

Today’s western church, the church that I come from, is increasingly finding the Bible offensive. Consider a year ago when President Trump stood in front of a Church with a Bible in his hands and what the press said about that act.
