spiritual warfare

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

ye old warfare we all experience it . we know paul wrote put on the whole armor of God and be strong in the Lord and power of his might.

this is not so much as how we combat this spiritual invisible war . i my self battle it every day opening a church up and taking of fairly Good . then a family just drops out of sight. sickness hits the church PTL no sickness ever came into the Church. just members got sick during the week. just some food for thought i do most of my battles praying my way through ! you say through what ? my anxiety my doubts my own thoughts hearing the evil voice muahhh look what's going on. i know the scripture and i remind my self of them..

dont be 7feet tall and bullet prof pretend you dont battle it. i watched music man post on his wife. i cant even begin to imagine the stuff he battles . so lets kick the can around for a while.. what are your thoughts on the warfare and how you battle it . {its ok to be honest } days i do good days i don't :)

I know some christians don't like to talk about it as if demons don't exist and prefer not to acknowledge them
But the battle is real.

Prayer is your best weapon.
And I think it pays to know the wiles of our enemy so that his tricks etc are exposed so people don't fall into a the same trap. They might not wanna hear it but you need to warn people.

For example, one of Satan's tricks can be he gets a believer to fall in love with an unbeliever (pretending to be a believer) and they get married and they don't find out until much later that their marriage was a lie. Much is the fallout and casualties from those types of marriages.

Now some people refuse to believe that Satan would be so underhand as to pretend like that but who said Satan ever played fair?

2 Cor. 11:14 warns us that the devil pretends to be a source of light, so it would be quite unsurprising that he would recruit people to pretend to be Christians in order to ensnare believers.

warfare is real the devil is real he knows what buttons to push .he knows our thoughts and as what was posted he is able to transform him self to appear like a angel of light ==deception .this why paul wrote we wrestle not against flesh and blood.. its a spiritual war.

i take this is not a popular discussion
not for me its not. its real, and its bone crushingly hard.

I struggle daily. but God picks me back up.

I wander off the path and He guides me back. He knows me as well as the enemy.
with repetition I survive the day after a fall. I then try to see where my armour was loose and try and fit it better.

One thing is not to give him an inch so he can take a mile.

I did at one stage get rid of all the stuff connected with the occult in my home, like objects associated with it, things like symbols, witchcraft, divination etc. I remember throwing out a lot of new age paraphenalia, and things like horoscope books etc.

Satan can be quite subtle. So we need to watch and pray always so that we can be ready. Through the Holy Spirit we can have discernment and know how to battle evil spirits. Thankfully God is our refuge and our strong help.

Some people do not like to talk about demonic. It is scary to some to talk about things that can be so real.

The problem is that the Occult is so intertwined in our society that most of us do not know it when it is in front of us.

Are you aware of how many so called Christians believe in the the Horoscope and fortune telling??????

Another.....The Harry Potter films and books are Santanic witchcraft and are being sold in Christian bookstores!!!!!

i am very familiar with the above . know spiritual warfare i deal with it every day. i have seen in church leaders they operate in the flesh.

this is very true .you seldom hear about discernment .

When ever Satan would raise his ugly head from the lake of fire, I do what I learned in a Pentecostal?Church that they might do:

"I bind you Satan. in the name of Jesus, get your hands off my family-----be gone! I loosen the blessings of the Lord upon my family!"
Cool right? It seems to work.

But lately small negative crap has been happening with the family. More than ever, I concentrate more on how powerful and great our God is, the less the enemy has any power. God provides, and lifts me up, and shows me once again, that we are conquers of problems.! Amen.

I'm reminded from Scripture that we're not supposed to grow weary in doing good, even when the burden does not seem light at all.

Gal.6:9
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Hello forgiven;

Thank you for this thread, Spiritual Warfare.

I just returned from a Pastors and Leaders retreat end of last week. It was wonderful to share our common ground with other men of God, get plenty of rest, the Keynote speaker was very straight up as he led the morning and evening messages, the food and the overall bonding was great!

But this didn't mean I was to come home and everything would be perfect. The first thing I did was spend time alone with my wife and told her how much I appreciate everything about her, her faith, our family, church family and community.

I felt more refreshed and strengthened while reconciling many issues, mostly people problems in these times.

The Lord gave me a Word.
Persevere!

Hello harriet;

Thank you for sharing your post about "the family," assuming this is your family and an encouraging Scripture from Galatians 6:9. You are in my prayers, sister.

Taking the time to rest in Him is also healthy which I am truly grateful.

Agreed.

"Discernment" is one of the gifts that many believers do not use.

Foe me......it is something like a light bulb that goes off when a situation pops up.
yes i call it red flags scripture reads

1 John 2:20

“But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.” i like forums but lordy mercy i see some junk that is so far out there . there out in left field singing put me in coach . not a clue . as the days get close more junk is going to drift in

Are there different types of discernment?
For example, doctrinal discernment as compared to character discernment or discernment of spirits?

its all the same ..the Holy spirit /spirit of truth imo

Hey crossnote;

You ask a really good question and I feel this would receive discussion of several answers in spiritual, doctrinal, God's will, one's character, etc...

In my personal relationship and walk with Christ my discernment in pastoral ministry has always been one of spiritual and decision according to God's will.

I’m not too sure about that, with my wife and I, she is very keen at picking out shyster like characters while I sit there like a dunce; yet she can sometimes fall easy prey to false teachings (not that I am pure in this matter) and usually have to help her out in that area.

I struggle with doctrinal discernment.
I just have not that gift. so naturally, anyone who is explaining a doctrine has to have my trust in his character other wise I would shy away from their teaching/ or explanation.. Their behaviour is always a guide to my trust.

most people on here I tend to trust as I have seen their interaction with others. and its by their interaction, but they sometimes differ in what they believe, so sometimes it dosent work so easily. huh.

is discernment of Spirits not the same as discerning someones character?
